- R2 Rio Calma Hotel
This modern hotel awaits its guests at just 350m from the nearest beach along the fabulous Costa Calma in the southern part of the Fuerteventura Island. Various shopping venues, restaurants and bars are located within 2 km, while the closest bus stop is just a 5-minute walk away. The venue itself provides everything needed for that long awaited vacation. Set amidst its beautiful gardens are 2 swimming pools that take care of that much needed respite in the warm summer months or a spot for a good morning swim, when the ocean waters are just a tad too chilly. For some extra pampering guests can give the spa and wellness centre a chance, while the in-house gym is perfect for those who want to maintain the workout routine. The onsite restaurants offer plenty of dining options that range from Canarian flavours, through traditional Spanish dishes to an international buffet.

Raul from the restourant is very Helpful And a very good Person
First want to start by saying please don’t be put off booking this hotel by reading bad reviews, as I first hand did not experience anything of what I had read before going and was apprehensive about booking but i am thrilled we did!
Location is very isolated not much around in terms of night life , small shopping mall less than 5 mins by car with restaurants and bars ( quiet location) but still enough to browse or buy any essentials you need
Food was great Plenty of options , meats of many varieties over the 5 days we were there and all cooked in front of you. Waiters serve you drinks and clean constantly which I thought was really good as nothing worse than left over mess all around when you are dining. Only beer wine water or soft drinks in restaurant served by staff which was never a issue for us
Pools incredibly clean pool areas and beds which were always monitored by staff for litter, plenty of beds to go around although I’m guessing in the peak summer months this might change. A kids pool, a busier middle pool with beautiful see view and then a really relaxing peaceful adult pool with grass surrounding so calming.
Our room was beautiful with an amazing view of hotel grounds , pools and sea , cleaned regularly. No complaints
Entertainment is kids disco early evening followed by a different act at 9.30 each night , many reviews mentioned this being too late but we found it ideal as dinner shut at 9pm and was directly opposite entertainment centre so it was perfect to not have to rush after a pool day to get to dinner and show. All acts were great,
Lobby bar serving 10am-11pm all inclusive with branded spirits, beers soft drinks , lovely selection of coffees made on request
Pool bar serves snacks from 12.30-6pm and drinks. All inclusive snacks are toastie, hot dog or burger with fries which you have to eat at pool bar dining area which was lovely with views of sea. It is waiter service for food
All staff at this hotel were so lovely pleasant friendly and helpful and so hardworking , honestly credit to them.
If you are looking for a busy party holiday this is not the hotel or location but if you want relaxation and luxury then this is the one.
We will definitely return and will recommend to friends

What an absolute find this place is. Lovely approach very impressive view from the road. We were first drop off too which has always been on one of the things I wanted to achieve in life. First drop off last pick up. What's not to love. The atmosphere on entering the hotel was very welcoming. What a breath taking receiption it is. Its an absolute wow, my jaw literally dropped. There was entertainment on and the acoustics were incredible. The staff were very friendly and showed us to our room as we initially got lost in the vast corridoors. We were shown to our room, we had upgraded to a Royal Suite on the 5th floor. The surprises just kept coming. Fancy wrist bands to inlock your front door with. So much easier than having to carry a key around with you. All your drinks are charged to your band. We were half board so we paid for all of our drinks with our wrist band. Anyway back to our room. We opened the front door which lead into a beautiful reception area, turning left into a long corridoor with hsi and hers huge wardrobes. The huge balcony had very comfy, cushioned wicker chairs and this made it perfect to relax in after a hard day at the pool. We arnt late birds by any means but enjoyed the quiet nights which made it easy to wind down and sleep effortlessly. The hotel rooms were spotlessly clean and our beds were made up daily with a chocolate on the corner of the pillow, fresh towels and a robe and slippers was the icing on the cake. We had a lounge with a TV, fridge and coffee machine. Our bedroom also had a huge TV with amazing views of the pools and a front row sea view. The entertainment was ample and finished early enough so as not to keep you out late. We had only been there 3 days and we booked to go back next October. What more can I say. You have to experience it for yourself. I promise you, you will not be dissappointed.
I booked a week in late September and found the hotel clean, pleasant and comfortable. Pools good, spa lovely and costs 15euro to enter for a session. The staff there were absolutely lovely- Magdelena, Victoria and Francisco (who also does a great massage- especially the head). We had some good chats and they really do everything they can to make you relax and enjoy the facilities (which are nicer than they look in the photos!). Food for all meals very good, plenty of choice and fresh salad, veg and fish as well as local cuisine. If you're vegetarian or vegan, there is also enough to choose from, not just basics. Gardens are very well-kept and throughout the site. The site itself is well-designed, not just 4star 'boxes'. There is quite a bit going on so no good if you are wanting complete quiet, equally it's not a 'party hotel' and not suitable for those looking for that. Instead, there are activities round the pool or at night in the open air areas which are needlessly loud. I really wouldn't have been bothered by them if they had turned the volume down but, as with most hotels in most places, ear-splitting volume is the norm- annoying when you have a room facing out so you can still hear it even with the balcony doors shut. However , that is everywhere now so worth mentioning this isn't a totally quiet hotel so you're prepared. Final note is special mentions for service and care in Reception from Luca, William and Sabrina and the excellent response provided by the Sub Director Senora de Santiago who fielded some feedback and helped me during my stay. I would return 😊
Raul is perfect, lovely, amazing, funny waiter, best service!!!
