As the title, this hotel is a very strong 3.9* or a weak 4*, I think to hit the 4* they tick the boxes such as food quality/kitchen hygiene, services offered, 3 pools, gym, free Wi-Fi, maid service daily, laundry, very large bedrooms with fridge, safe, tv, tea/coffee, evening entertainment
Good bits, the food is truly lovely, massive selection, breakfast obviously the same every day, very fresh and tasty, lunch is big enough to have something different every day without being sick of it, and dinners are awesome, we were luck that they opened the downstairs restaurant on a Thursday (normally just weekends) probably the best food I’ve had in a 4* ever, we had budgeted for 2 nights to eat out as we expected it to be bland and samey, we ate out once due to how nice it was in the hotel, on that note the reason we only ate out was due to the hotel only showing the World Cup semi finals on the tiny bar TVs, they refused to use the projector for some reason even tho Spain was playing 1st .??? Would of been great but what a shame 60 people crowded round a 40”tv we watched it round the corner in a burger bar, the hotel staff are fantastic, bar staff are not shy with the spirits, we had to tell them to stop pouring at one point 😂
Nothing to do with the hotel but the area is so safe, great location, lots of couples, families and small groups of girls. A real safe chilled vibe along the shops/strip to the bars and restaurants 30 second walk to the strip of shops from the hotel and roughly 15/20 min walk to the music square
What knocks it down is that the rooms are tired (revamp this nov) the pool guys test and treat the water every day but ignore the tiled area, if a drink is spilt one day the area is not hosed down the next or even swept daily I saw it washed twice all week, so pool area feels a bit manky, on top of that grout falling out and broken tiles here and there, the “quiet” pool is very chill vibe, plenty on sun beds to go round just not enough umbrellas, no need to get up early with your towels unless you need a umbrella which is a shame, female lifeguard is very strict on keeping this area by the rules, no floaties/toys, keep quiet, no diving. Bit OTT but hey ho, also no poolside toilets or bar up at the quiet pool so it’s a walk to the main area for that, main pool and kids pool is the complete opposite with banging music and games going on, toilets and drinks close by, can’t comment too much on that area as we only used the bar for drinks, the gym always had people in it but we never used it so can’t comment on quality
All in all it is a great chilled hotel, TOP TIP bring your own plastic cups, it’s 1 euro to use Theirs, but they are very small so you will keep needing a refill very quickly, my wife took a stainless steel goblet which held 1/2 bottle of Prosecco at a time 🫣 I had a pint plastic cup, the staff loved the idea
Would I recommend to stay here ..YES ✅
We stayed here as a family of 3, all inclusive. Firstly I’d say this hotel and service would be more suited to a good 3 star hotel.
Service is quite basic. Most things are self service apart from the pool bar where you pay a small deposit for plastic cups to reuse and staff get the alcohol but you get your own soft drinks. You seat yourself at breakfast, lunch and dinner with all meals bar one at the same restaurant which is a casual atmosphere. All you can eat buffet can be quite limited and usually most of it is repeated (pizza, salad, rice dishes) with one main changed each day. Lunch and dinner has very little difference. Soft drinks, wine and larger is self service. There is a nicer restaurant downstairs but only opened once which is more ‘smart casual’ in atmosphere and a nicer setting for dinner but unfortunately it is not utilised. There isn’t the usual ‘vibrant/interactive’ staff interaction that you often see at 4*+ hotels.
The pool opens at 9 and it usually quite easy to get a sunbed at this time as they do have signs up about not ‘reserving’ beds before 10am. However, it is a battle to get a sunbed with a parasol as these are the ones that people reserve early morning and then leave the beds until 10am. Often the life guard will help with moving a parasol from a bed not being used. There are only approx 1 parasol to every 15 beds with very limited shade options. And it gets very hot mid afternoon!
The pool is clean and big enough, can’t complain with this one.
On an evening, there is an seperate bar with bar service. All inclusive ends at approx 11pm. Evening entertainment is very basic and usually quite late on. Games night included 1 game of bingo done via your phone with very little commentary to make it enjoyable.
Rooms are spacious and clean except for a few squished bugs on the ceilings. Quite dated with scruffy paint work and ‘worn’ out looking features. Beds were hard but manageable. They had everything you needed in it so wasn’t something to complain about.
Location was good. Shops all within a couple minutes walk. Beach was a 10 minute walk away. There are sunbeds with parasols on the beach but they charge €10pp for this. Sea and sand were lovely. Highly recommend snorkels to see the fish!
Overall, it was an okay hotel. Wouldn’t rate 4* but definitely 3*
Location is excellent very close to shops bars entertainment etc short walk to the beach..rooms were spotless and when we asked to change rooms because of steps it was done immediately.staff were lovely very friendly and helpful ..pool areas were also lovely great bar staff ..couldn't fault it will go again
Perfect location, close to the shops on the main street, we got our rooms for a great price (from booking .com) rooms are very spacious, clean and comfortable, there was plenty of sunbeds to choose from, staff were friendly and helpful, there was a nice calm atmosphere in the restaurants and bars. Food was also good and plenty of choice
Just returned from a 7 night all inclusive stay at the Bahia de Lobos. Had the best time with my family. The hotel is located in close proximity to the strip full of shops, cafes, bars and restaurants.
The hotel is immaculate, the grounds and rooms are all kept extremely clean. Although a few external areas looked slightly dated, no problems were experienced because of it so had no impact on our stay whatsoever. I understand the hotel is closing for refurbishment in November 26 so I'm sure those issues will be addressed.
The room itself was modern and really spacious with a TV, twin bed, sofa, wardrobe and sofa. Everything was so clean and towels were changed daily and our bedding was also changed during our stay. Aircon was fantastic and the balcony was huge!
Unfortunately our mini fridge was not working and we have to keep medicine refrigerated so it was really important to sort, within 2 hours of explaining to reception how urgent it was , the fridge was replaced with a new one and also the safe was repaired too. Appreciated the free WiFi which was really good and the safe which is usually an additional charge at most hotels. Really impressed with the customer service 👏 👌 thank you.
Drinks were lovely, San Miguel, red/white and rose wine on tap and soft drinks all available on a self serve basis. Local spirits were also available and really good too.
Breakfasts were very enjoyable and consisted of freshly made pancakes, fried eggs and omelette made to order as well as the nicest pastries and chocolate spread !!😋 Cereals, yogurts and toast making facilities are available as well as wonderful fresh baguettes .
They also do sausages, Spanish style bacon, scrambled egg , beans and the most wonderful roasted tomatoes. Would have been really nice to have had hash browns along with the breakfast but that's me being selfish and they have to cater for many different nationalities, all of which I think they have accomplished very well. Everything was warm and well replenished often.
Lunch always had pasta and sauces, pizza chips etc and the best salad bar too. Meals changed daily but the chicken kebabs, fajitas and burgers were always welcomed and enjoyed. The pork loin steaks were always really succulent and the beef stew was also lovely. There will always be something to eat so you will never go hungry ! The same type of meals were available on an evening too.
Puddings were all lovely, ice cream, jelly, little cakes, big cakes and chocolate fountain and sweets- couldn't be better!!
The snack bar available from 3.30 til 6 consisted of hot dogs, sandwiches, fresh salad and fruit bowls, nachos, cheese and doughnuts/cakes these were always nice although we were usually still full from breakfast and lunch 🤣
All chefs waiters/waitresses were so organised and kept the busy restaurants flowing smoothly.
You do have to pay £1 for a plastic cup or take your own and staff are happy to fill these at the bar or you can refill yourselves. Either way, you get your £1 when you return your cup and it also means there aren't hundreds of empty plastic cups rolling around the outside areas.
There is day and evening entertainment, which was always busy. The bar staff worked their bottoms off keeping the queues down- Emelio was always so happy and was as quick as lightening serving. All bar staff were fantastic!
All of the staff are so friendly walking around with the biggest smiles on their faces saying good morning to us -the hotel could not be any more welcoming ❤️
The staff collectively make the Bahia de Lobos hotel very unique and special and are a credit to the Blue Sea Hotel Chain. I really hope they get the recognition and thanks they deserve and return after the planned refurbishment works.
Looking forward to returning in the near future and seeing what works have been carried out, please don't change too much as this hotel is already very special the way it is!
thank you for the most enjoyable stay
