Elba Sara Beach and Golf Resort

We had a mixed experience at Hotel Sara Beach.

Check-in was quite long-winded and, unfortunately, our first impression wasn’t helped by the room. The room itself was clean, but the bathroom looked like it had been completely missed. There was poo on the toilet seat, hair all over the shower, and the shower drain was blocked. The cleaners sorted it quickly when we reported it, but it really shouldn’t have been like that in the first place. One of our friends also found a toenail in their room, which wasn’t great

Our air conditioning also broke during our stay, the floor became very slippery, but this was fixed quickly, so credit where it’s due. Towels in our room were changed daily and the beds were made every day.

The bar staff were definitely a highlight. They were fast, friendly and seemed happy to make pretty much anything you asked for. The lady working at the Toucan Bar during the day was especially good — really friendly and efficient. The only downside was that there was an unpleasant smell around the self-service bar area.

During our stay were we given a voucher so we could eat at either thier tex mex or at their Italian. We were hoping to eat at the Italian restaurant, but it was fully booked, so we went to the Tex-Mex instead. Unfortunately, we were disappointed, the toucan bar just lacked that evening feel, the starter was self serve (we were looking forward to being served our food) things were lacking such as there was no sour cream available and our drinks took a long while to come to us.

During the day during our pool days, the pool toilets could also have been cleaned more regularly. We got sun beds each day, although I was up and at a bed for 8 each day. I liked the quiet tho and was happy to sit and read my book.

Entertainment-wise, though, we thought it was brilliant. The outside stage was small but worked well, while the Broadway Bar inside was far too small and got very hot. One thing that did let the hotel down was the attitude of some of the staff at the reception desk. We found them unhelpful and a little rude at times, one of the times we were trying to order a taxi into town for a meal and a member of staff was extremely rude. Overall, there were definitely some positives, especially the brilliant entertainment and most of the bar staff, who were fantastic. However, the cleanliness issues with the bathroom and some of the communal areas, along with the customer service we experienced, stopped it from being a really good stay. Hopefully these things can be improved because there is plenty to like about the hotel.

Stayed at this hotel for 10 days and I’m not gonna lie not the best experience especially for what they charge you!

Location: Location is okay, next to the beach, a shopping centre, McDonald’s and a petrol station are available. And it’s 15 minute walk away from the the main centre. Nice walk along the beach.

Rooms: Stayed there for 10 nights had towels changed 4 times, floors never got cleaned. Bathroom never got cleaned. The bed sheets got changed only 3 times. I’m pretty sure this is not hygienic. I did ask and I got told that they don’t mop the floors and they only change the bed sheets only get changed if you request it.

Food: Every day there is a different type of world food, I’m not a picky eater but I struggled to find something that was delicious or warm. Most of the food was somewhat cold. Some meats were not fully cooked. But if you like rare burgers and cold chicken it’s not to bad.

Staff: Depends on the person you deal with. The lobby bar staff were brilliant, the reception did help but not always were keen to help. The restaurant staff some where decent some acted like it was a chore to help you. Entertainment staff were brilliant.

Pool: Pool is dirty! In 10 days I never saw it getting cleaned. I found multiple dirty old plasters in the pool.

Main reason for a bad review is that there were 6 of us. 3 of us got poorly, asked for some help, got told it’s not their problem. My mum and brother got ill, had a fever, asked to bring some food upstairs, reception refused to help. Told that we have to deal with it our self’s. My mum got very ill on the last day, asked for a late check out as our flight wasn’t until the evening. Just wanted somewhere for my mum to sleep it off. Got told a rude NO! Then we asked if it would be okay for here to sleep on the sofa at the lobby. And the lady at the reception told yes that’s absolutely fine. Brought here water kept checking in on us. Then a rude old man came over and in a very rude voice told us that she can’t sleep here as this is a lobby not a sleeping area and this looks very bad on the hotel. And when I started to explain to him the situation he told that he doesn’t care and it’s not his problem. And just walked off!

So unfortunately the staff do bring this hotel down. Lack of help from them just isn’t simply good enough. It’s definitely not a 4 star hotel. I would say 3 at push!

This is just my review and experience at this hotel and unfortunately it’s a very negative one!

I definitely would go back or recommend this hotel!
