Senator Banus Spa

Not a 5 star or even 4 star in any standard! Totally deceiving pictures as the property is 3 star at its best. Very disturbing and noisy rooms as walls are thin. All rooms and furnitures are dated and old. Shower was loose. No technology update, not even a usb in rooms. Extremely rude manager at the reception as we asked for cancelation and refund of the next night to leave the hotel. Instead of apologizing and acknowledging no response to the loud music being blasted at 5 am he said you only have stayed one night so I won’t cancel the second night. It’s a below average 3 star property in the middle of freeway. Value your money and stay at a decent place instead of this scam.

Wouldn’t class it as 5*, it’s 4* at best. They gave me undercooked chicken on the first night which thankfully I spotted before eating any, sent it back and didn’t pay for it but it put me off wanting to eat there for the rest of the holiday. The hotel is adults recommended rather than strict adults only so they do allow children which we didn’t realise. The pool restaurant staff were incredibly rude. The Legends bar staff, reception staff, cleaners and bellhop were all lovely. The WiFi was poor throughout. No English TV channels in the room apart from radio and news. We had a deluxe room which was huge and well equipped with everything you need, 2 wardrobes with lots of space, 2 huge beds, 2 sinks in the bathroom and stocked with L’Occitane products which was a nice touch. The room walls are very thin, you can hear entire conversations of the people in the room next to you, hear them opening their curtains, moving furniture etc. They fully stock the fridge with drinks which can’t be removed without paying for them so you don’t have any fridge space for your own items. Food and cocktails are pretty poor in the hotel, very expensive for what it is, frozen oven pizzas with no flavour to them and cocktails made poorly. The pool area and pool itself is lovely and the beds are really comfortable with a variety of choices of beds with fresh towels ready, there was no beds in the sun available most days and that was mid-October so I imagine it’s a lot worse in the height of summer. The pool is surrounded by mosquitoes so make sure you take repellent and bite relief. The hotel is in the middle of nowhere, there’s one Indian restaurant on this side of the motorway but all the other restaurants (of which there aren’t many - another 2/3 Indians, 2 Chinese and 2 Italian) are a bit of a walk away and you have to cross the motorway bridge to get there. No shops nearby either so you either have to pay the hotels expensive prices for e.g. soft drinks or order supermarket deliveries which we had to do about 4 times. It’s great if you want to just completely switch off for a few days but if you want to go anywhere or do anything you’d need a taxi or a car. Central Estepona is about 20 minutes away by car and Puerto Banus is about 15 minutes away. It’s a very nice hotel, just in the wrong location and not up to a 5* standard so wouldn’t stay again.
