Friendly staff, great facilities and close proximity to all that Benalmadena has to offer are three great reasons you should stay at Hotel Club Palia La Roca.
Due to the surrounding area and the number of steps around the hotel, it may not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties.
Really enjoyed the food here. Laid back atmosphere and always found a table . Breakfast was pleasant outside , we really enjoyed this space. Staff were friendly and very helpful, particularly reception who even gave me advice on places to visit and a detailed map. Thank you. Rooms were clean and modern but did feel small. Had a lovely view of the sea and surrounding area which made up for the tight space. We did struggle to get a sun lounger. I found some holiday makers very rude, reserving sunbeds and leaving. I felt so sorry for the life guard who faced backlash from some people who were angry their towels had been moved. Spent most of our week at the beach because of this. The beach was nice with a great walkway all the way up to main town and beyond. You can walk safely for miles here. There's also a lovely park named Parc de Paloma a short walk away. Lots of parrots and even turtles in the water. A really nice stroll. Went to Siwo Marina which is at the far end of the park. Worth a visit if interested in wildlife. Caught the public bus into Málaga and walked to the Alcazabar. Stunning views. The area felt very British. I would return to Spain but think we would prefer a more authentic experience. However, being so close to Málaga Airport, the resort is a good strategic option for multi destination holidays. If we do return, I would consider hotel if sun lounger situation improves and the price is right. Overall, excellent value option and 10/10 for staff.
We have just returned from a 10 night stay at this hotel which which was too long, a week would have been enough!
Staff - all staff are really hard working, the animation team work so hard & do a great job. There is plenty of activities to get involved with if that's your thing but no pressure to join in.
The reception team were helpful and we had a quick check in.
The bar staff are great but sometimes 2 members of staff are needed at busy times.
The Restaurant staff are constantly clearing and relaying tables, again more staff at times required. Chefs/cooks seems a little slow putting out new food or cooking at the "show cooking".
pool area - Clean & always sunbeds spare at any time of day. Seems odd that no balls are allowed in the pool, however animation team play ball games at times.
on the last day we were there, we were told no food from the snack bar or afternoon creps to be eaten around the pool, although haven't been a problem before the last day, not sure why this rule suddenly came into play.
Rooms - We had a great view of the pool & the sea n the distance, but are very tired & in need a refresh, just simple things like new toilet seats or some new grout around the bath/shower area. A fresh coat of paint needed inside & on the balcony.
There are NO hairdryers in the rooms either and aircon very dated, worked when it felt like it!
The rooms were clean with beds & towels changed regularly, although balcony was never cleaned or swept the time we were there.
Public toilets in reception & pool area, again new toilet seats would not go amiss & more often than not never had toilet paper or paper towels in them.
Restaurant - what you would expect for all inclusive & generally tasty and plenty of choice, never a struggle to find something to eat, however, they are very slow at replenishing empty trays of food and on a few occasions there was no meat or fish in the "show cook" area and no cook to be seen. I had to ask the waiters where the cooks were as there was no freshly cooked meat or fish, on 2 occasions we waited 20 mins for a cook to come out and start cooking & then we had to ask the waiter to get someone, I also witnessed this another night with other people.
The drinks are again what you would except, wine not great but found it hard to get a nice class of wine anywhere.
Location - The hotel is in an excellent location for the beach, walk along the beach, bars, restaurant's & the marina a 10 min walk along the front, the lovely park & the centre. The buses are excellent and cheap for visiting nearby other resorts.
Also if you come out he hotel and turn left up the hill, you will come to a lovely square with lovely restaurants & bars 7 keep walking and there is a lovely shopping centre.
So The big question: Would we go back to this hotel? Unfortunately not, there was more negatives than positives for us, but with a little TLC & maybe some management in the restaurant we would come back for a long weekend.
Excellent hotel! When we arrived Maria head housekeeper checked us in. What a lovely welcome! She was a delight! friendly, funny and gave us lots of information about hotel. What a fantastic start to our holiday. We must have been lucky because we had a lovely room overlooking the pool and we were next door to rest of our family. Rooms were lovely, so clean and lovely large walk in shower. We hired a fridge as it didn't cost much so we were happy! Rooms were kept lovely and clean and the ladies who clean the rooms spoke excellent English and were very friendly. The food was good with plenty choice, it was a very well run dining room. The Hotel Manager was present daily which makes a huge difference to how a hotel runs. I have never been to a hotel where ALL the staff are so friendly and can't do enough for you they are a credit to the Manager and the hotel. The animation team ( Kobe, Julia, Romane, and Valou, were fantastic so friendly, never pushy they just wanted everyone to have the best holiday. My grandson thought they were great they kept calling him Eminem and he loved to join in because they were so lovely. Lots of activities for children and adults, and you could just join in when/if you wanted. Never saw any long queues at the sun loungers? Sometimes a little queue would be at the outside bar for drinks but the staff at the bar were friendly, efficient, and to be honest Iv'e never been in that much of a hurry for a drink can't wait 5-10 minutes. We will definitely be back we all had the best time! Thank you all so much.
This is our third visit to Palia La Roca, and we already can’t wait to return. Although some rooms in the hotel are a little dated, they are very clean. Reception, housekeeping, restaurant staff all work so so hard. The bar staff are super efficient and friendly. Laura is the queen of multi tasking! The animation team - what can I say - these guys are exceptional 🤩 Julia, Kobi and Valou are absolute superstars, friendly, encouraging, entertaining. They made us laugh every single day. The location is perfect for pool days, beach days (2/3 mins walk to the beach) and it’s only 10/15mins walk to the marina. The food selection is great, plenty of options for everyone.
Location: Great to get to the beach very short walk get to the underpass, so don't have to cross the road, so a few minutes to the beach. The hotel is up a steep, but short hill. And it's about a 20minute walk to the marina, which is lovely. Was ideal to go to the beach and go back to the hotel for dinner as we were all inclusive. But we would sometimes eat out. A nice Italian nearby, Casa Alberto, worth a visit, and coast to coast is also worth a visit.
Atmosphere: Okay. The bar staff were amazing and the cleaning crew were lovely. The entertainment team had their favourite guests in the hotel and would often ignore some people. But if people spent a lot of time in the hotel and pool areas they would make of an effort with those people. Not a huge issue for us.
Hotel amenities: Pool was fine. It was clean, and ideal to cool off in. It wasn't too busy in June. There was water polo some evenings, which often ended in arguments and people going too far. Think the entertainment staff should have controlled this better, it was uncomfortable to watch.
The room was old and tired, apart from the bathroom that had been modernised, and had a great power shower. There was no cover / flap on the air con.
The drinks were typical what you'd expect for AI package. Cheap imitation, but could buy the better stuff. However the always had to be in plastic glasses, even on a night.
The twin beds were soooo uncomfortable and the sheets were like sandpaper. The pillows were too low with one pillow and too high with two pillows. We didn't get much sleep on a night.
The food was okay. Very similar food each day. Coffee / tea machine only on in the dining room on a morning. If you wanted one during the day it was in a paper cup from the bar area.
Overall the hotel was okay. Would I rebook to go here? No.
Wasn't awful, but wasn't great.
