Just left after a fabulous stay at this fantastic hotel in the heart of Benidorm!
The location is great, with the beach just around a 15-minute walk away. All the staff were so friendly and welcoming, especially Christina on reception, who was lovely!
The pool is huge and there were plenty of activities going on throughout the day, so there was always something to enjoy.
Breakfast was fantastic, with lots of choice, including made-to-order omelettes and fresh juices. Everything was delicious!
We were also really touched by the lovely dessert and cava provided to celebrate our anniversary and birthday. Such a thoughtful and special touch that we really appreciated.
Overall, we had a fabulous stay and would highly recommend this hotel. The only downside was that our stay was far too short!
We’re already looking forward to coming back!
We returned here in June after a couple of years as we loved it the last time we came. Very different experience this time. Had a nosy couple who kept poking their head round our balcony. To which we then complained to them directly and asked them not to and to respect our privacy to then later that evening have the hotel security come up to our room at 11pm asking us not to smoke in our room? And that something had set off the fire alarm downstairs (but not in our room - surely if there was a fire alarm we would have been alerted first?) the security had no idea what he was talking about. Then it clicked. A phone call must of been made. So I offered him in to ask if he could smell smoke. He didn’t want to come into the room. I said even if we were we would on the balcony that’s right there not in the room. I then had to make a complaint to reception who agreed it was madness. And agreed to move us rooms. I was just shocked to be honest. Should have been handled completely differently and properly checked for facts and after offering him to come into the room so he could see and smell for himself. But he knew as you would be able to smell smoke at the door if this was the case so he clearly knew but no apology. The food was awful this time. We had three lots of uncooked chicken to the point we stopped attempting to even get chicken and try it. We also heard other people complaining of uncooked chicken. Both rooms we stayed in were not that clean and things broken and just left. Shower would just flood into the bedroom and we supposedly had an upgraded room. After speaking to another family who had paid £13000 for their 2 week holiday for 8 of them - they seem to have had a really awful time too (they had previously stayed and loved it). The pool rules had changed so even the kids couldn’t have any fun round the pool. I don’t normally leave bad reviews neither do I moan about places (I much rather just stay quiet and never go back) however, I feel anyone who may have stayed here before should be aware of down hill this hotel has gone. So you don’t waste your money or expect it to be as good as the last time you went.
Hotel needs a revamp on walking in to reception very impressed but once in room it’s dated and dirty, other guests were very inconsiderate banging shouting and a lady screaming at 3am which terrified my 10 year old (I know the hotel can’t control the gusts but I would say pay a bit more and stay somewhere else)
Genuinely what a brilliant place. I’ve come to realise that reading reviews can be so mixed and you should go with what you want personally out of somewhere. So I will summarise the good and the bad below:
Good (more than good!)
Bad (really honestly not that bad)
I would return in an instant.
Meliá Benidorm has been the best hotel we have ever stayed in if I could rate higher I would the staff are absolutely fantastic nothing is too much trouble , Alexis on reception checked us in and out and was so friendly and helpful, the animation team are absolutely fantastic with the children , the atmosphere around the pool during the day was amazing , food was fantastic always something we liked and the location is perfect away from all the loud crowds but still close enough to everything we were up on the 12th floor and the view was amazing , thank you Meliá we will be back next year !
