Excellent hotel and staff
Been to this hotel several times and always relaxed and happy. The staff are excellent mainly. One of the reception staff is a bit abrupt but the rest are great.
Room good with his and hers wardrobes. Kitchen ok but apart from fridge no food storage cupboard.
Pools great if a little cool outdoors. The indoor ones are fine. No need to reserve loungers at all. It's great that there's no mad dash every day.
Happy hour daily 5-6. Marco and Pedro are excellent barmen/waiters at the Oceana bar. Evening entertainment at both venues is good.
Only do b&b so can't comment on evening meals. Breakfast ok. Enough to choose from but no porridge. So many restaurants to choose from nearby. You must try them.

Liked everything about all 3 Hotels, only downside was the bar seervive in the portofino bar was pretty slow.

Enjoyable holiday at Eden Mar
Returned from a lovely 2 week holiday at the Eden Mar, part of the Porto Mare complex. Everything was excellent, could not fault anything. Excellent food including presentation, high standard cleanliness, beautiful gardens, lovely cl,ean pools, lovely room, friendly staff.

An excellent base for a holiday in Madeira
My Superior Studio had everything that I needed for an enjoyable stay. The facilities at Eden Mar were excellent and the buildings and grounds were beautifully maintained. Staff were very friendly and only too keen to please. There was a supermarket in the complex and a variety of restaurants too. Close to the seafront promenade for walks and a bus stop for trips into the centre of Funchal just minutes away, so an ideal situation in all respects.

Already booked for next year
We’ve been before and have already booked for next year. We’ve visited the Eden Mar a few times, only stopping when we took out a timeshare at its sister hotel, the Residence. We’re now back at the Eden Mar and will continue returning for as long as we’re able. The hotel is lovely, picturesque and quiet. Food is great, location is ideal for us, staff are super friendly, rooms are comfy and spotlessly clean. The Alfama does a great evening meal and we’ve visited Il Basilico a number of times. Around the hotel there are many excellent restaurants. The cost is reasonable, obviously you can find cheaper but not as good.
