Just two minutes from Funchal's largest beach, Formosa Beach, lies Pestana Royal, an All-Inclusive only hotel which offers amazing views of the Cabo Girao hillside, and is just 10 minutes from Funchal city centre. The hotel offers transportation to Funchal city, courtesy of the hotels (subject days and time table schedules as per units program, “first come, first served” basis).
During your stay, you can lounge by the two swimming pools that the hotel has to offer as well as a Solarium. The children can enjoy their time at the hotel's kids club or in the playground, whereas there are plenty of activities for the adults to partake in such as Pool, Mini Golf or Tennis. There are four restaurants to spend your evening meal, three being a set menu and one open buffet.

Each room is equipped with a television, safe, free Wi-Fi, a bath and hairdryer. For a small supplement will guarantee a balcony which offers panoramic views of the hotel's surroundings. Seaview rooms are also available at a supplement charge.

Fab girlie holiday
Wonderful experience completely, loved the pool area and staff incredibly helpful .. especially Karina who assisted us with our excursions and history about the surrounding area and hotel facilities.. she was always polite and cheerful whenever we bumped into her around the hotel. The food was delicious and pleased we took the all inclusive option. We were blessed to be upgraded on arrival . Couldn’t fault it.
Defiantly not 5 Stars
We arrived at this hotel with great expectations and were almost instantly let down by the poor checking In. There was only one person checking people in and only 4 couples to check in, We were 2nd and that took 20 mins to get to the front, The room we were given looked impressive at first but in the morning we notice badly stained carpets / curtains and the desk stool was broken (Which the cleaner knew) The fridge door did not close again the cleaners must have known about as there was a huge build up of ice. Only 2 small portions of milk were supplied and we had to keep asking for more. Food served in the main area was very repetitive and hardly ever hot at lunch and dinner. The 2 booked restaurants were first class and the manager of these was amazing. All the bar staff and dining staff were top and deserve praise. The Spa again was first class. In regard to the reception team they almost always looked as if they didnt really want to be there and did not give us any confidence things would happen. An example is the water in our room stopped (Emergency) but we had to call several times to find out ourselves.

I had a fantastic stay. The spacious room offered a superb view and the buffet was amazing. There were plenty of sun loungers by the pool and the staff was very welcoming. I’ll definitely return.

Good hotel but not five star
This is a pleasant and clean hotel with adequate facilities for a comfortable and relaxing break. Although not centrally located the views are stunning over the ocean. Staff were all helpful and friendly.
The room was dated and in need of refurbishment.
Restaurant staff were efficient and kept the environment clean and food options available. However the tables were very close together and the food and vibe was more like a canteen.
Pestana Royal lacked the additional detail and luxury that makes you feel you are in a five star hotel.

Lovey hotel
Amazing Hotel first visit to Maderia food and service excellent very very clean in hotel and grounds Animation team great fun for all very inclusive friendly staff , aqua dance and aqua gym worth a mention will be back.
