Enotel Lido

A delightful hotel with exceptional staff. The Madeiran and Italian restaurants were excellent with a 5 course taster menu served each night. The infinity outside pool overlooked the crashing Atlantic waves making a lovely experience and there were always lots of vacant loungers.

The poolside bar and buffet restaurants were both very pleasant to eat at and the breakfast buffet in particular was wonderful.

Rooms are large with spacious balconies. Unfortunately ours overlooked construction work and the car park and were too noisy to use. Recommend asking for a room on the other side

The staff were unfriendly; the premises were untidy in places, and the old carpets in the hallways smelled terrible. There wasn't a single person in the Jacuzzi, yet we—along with our children—were told to leave, even though we weren't making any noise and there was no sign prohibiting children. Dirty glasses sat in the hallway for four days straight, and no one ever removed them; there was also a dirty rag lying in a corner. The staff were very unfriendly toward families. On one occasion, the housekeeper did a very poor job cleaning the room—they didn't even replace the towels; they simply folded the ones that were already in the corner and put them back there. In the room, while taking a shower, the shower head fell off, leaving only the hose; there were two shampoo dispensers, but one was broken off and the other was attached with adhesive tape-and there was no hair conditioner, In some places, the wallpaper has peeled off.

Good location. It's about 20-30 minutes walk to the main town. There are souvenir shops along the way, if you want to do some shopping The area is very clean, although sometimes along the walk there could be smell of sewage. The atmosphere in the hotel is good. The staff are friendly, always happy to help. We had a double double bedroom, which I believe is a family room. The room was clean, and housekeeping was done every day. One slight issue with the shower. The seal on the shower door allowed the water to seep through onto the floor. Luckily the floor towel soaked most of it up. The food was very nice. Service in the restaurants and bars were excellent. The staff were always attentive and always had q smile. We thoroughly enjoyed all the specialised restaurants, Japanese, Madeiran and Italian They all had a set menu, and service was fairly quick. Service at the Japanese restaurant took a little bit longer which was understandable as it's the type of food that had to he cooked on the go. Once cooked, everyone was served straight away. The portions were fairly big. The taste, very, very nice. All the cooks were excellent, in each of the restaurants. I would thoroughly recommend trying all the restaurants.
