An absolutely amazing hotel. Beautiful rooms, public spaces, inside and out, lovely terraces and bar area. Breakfast had the most amazing choices. Pool area brilliant and no fighting for sunbeds. We got one whatever time of day we went. Amazing sea vie from our room on the 10th floor. It was my birthday while we were there and they presented me with a lovely cake and sang happy birthday. Loved it so much we are going back in December! Highly recommend this hotel.
Table service from the bar is poor, to get a drink in a reasonable time be prepared to go and get it yourself.
We have just had a week at the Baia Azul Hotel and it was perfect. The location is fantastic with everything within walking distance including Funchal (3km). The hotel does offer a free bus into the centre which has to be pre booked but it is a nice walk in and only €10 for a taxi back. The rooms were very clean and spacious with uninterrupted views across the bay. The rest of the hotel public areas were also very clean. We went in October and the atmosphere was very calm, peaceful and quiet. The pool area had plenty of sun loungers, we only went there for two days as we wanted to explore the island. We booked B&B and the breakfast could not be faulted, plenty to choose from and no long ques. The service was great and all the staff were always polite and helpful. I would recommend B&B as that gives you a chance to try the local restaurants which helps the local economy. We will go back and are already looking at next May for the flower festival.
Stayed for two weeks on a B&B basis in September. It’s a lovely hotel, very clean with attentive and obliging staff. Breakfast is good with plenty of choice with lovely homemade bread that goes very quick. Try and eat in the garden area at breakfast where you can get out of the sun, that can be very hot even in the morning and become uncomfortable. Rooms are cleaned daily, often whilst you are having breakfast. The bars are good, but a little expensive. Pool area is lovely, plenty of beds although the beds can be uncomfortable. The pool is only shallow, but it does offer water aerobics 3 times per week. My wife took a massage whilst here, that was lovely and reasonable. I used the gym that had good modern facilities, but do remember the gym etiquette. There are 4 restaurants opposite, but if you are looking for more Madeira food go a little further towards Funchal or Funchal itself. We ate at Hemingways one night and that was a fantastic experience. Overall a great hotel and value for money
Very impressed with our stay. Great location for lots of local restaurants. Hotel very clean and impressive. Breakfast was vast and restocked regularly. Pools were lovely - both indoor and out. Nice selection of snacks at the pool bar. Would happily recommend and stay again.
