Why does the hotel next door (views oasis), Have a better selection of spirits such as stoli vodka and Drambuie whisky in their all inclusive menu? They are also 4* hotel and cheaper too. It doesn’t make sense!?
This was our 3rd visit to this hotel and overall did not disappoint. Our only problem was my friends room. The room was lovely however the balcony over looked the bins and was the staff entrance. Whilst you can can not expect the staff to stop chatting , having to endure the bins being emptied very early everyday is not acceptable. On day 3 we went to reception and explained we were very disappointed and asked if it was possible to change rooms. Unfortunately there was nothing available for a few days as the hotel was full. True to their word a room became available however the receptionist told us that we had obviously just been lucky on our previous visits and we should read the paper work more carefully despite TUI’s website saying their rooms had a partial sea view. I found her comments insulting and we had been very polite in our request. I spent nearly 40 years in customer service and believe you should always offer an apology. At no time did she offer an apology . Despite these problems we were very happy with our holiday. The hotel is beautiful and I believe that the staff are the hotels biggest asset. They were all friendly and nothing was too much trouble. If you are looking for a nice peaceful break this hotel would be perfect. I would have given 5 stars but got the problems with the room.
We stayed 7 nights. The staff looked after us well. The place is spotless and the food is nice. We also used the shuttle bus to Funchal a couple of times. I would certainly go back.
I cannot praise Hotel Riu Madeira highly enough. Everything that we experienced from check in on day one to checking out on our last day was wonderful. The location was beautiful, set right on the sea, and the hotel itself was spotless. We stayed in a suite and this was gorgeous. The food was delicious and there was such a variety every day. Many of the days we decided to have our lunch in Pepe’s Grill and this was beautiful. The staff couldn’t have been friendlier and were always there to offer a smile and assist when needed. Whilst the hotel itself was big, there was a lovely community feel to it. There were always plenty of sunbeds available each day, even when going to the pool for the first time in the afternoon after a day trip. There was never any noise around any communal area and the whole setting was just so peaceful. Having multiple free shuttles available each day was brilliant and saved us the expense of a taxi. I honestly have nothing bad to say about the hotel whatsoever. Thank you for making this such a special trip and for all the happy memories which will last us a lifetime. We will definitely return! :)
We arrived here near the end of May for 10 night stay, but ended up staying for 14 nights due to our return easyjet flight being cancelled. The staff are all very professional, friendly & helpful. The cleanliness of the whole hotel & outside areas was outstanding We had booked with Tui & must thank our rep Gene who was brilliant in arranging our extended stay at the hotel after our flight was cancelled! The food options in the main restaurant were huge & very good (especially dessert) for an all inclusive. Thank you to all the chefs, it must be so hard catering for various ages & nationalities! There is a free bookable return bus to Funchal, which was very handy. We wanted to say a special thank you to the following ; Marilda, who often served us at breakfast & lunch; A big thank you to Edson, who mainly looked after us at dinner. He was exceptional! He was always so friendly & professional! One night we ate at the Kulinarium restaurant situated in the hotel. We both thoroughly enjoyed our food, again service fantastic! As for the entertainment, it is very hit & miss, however if you love Peter Kayes Phoenix Nights you'll enjoy for all the wrong reasons!
