Due to the surrounding area and the number of steps around the hotel, it may not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties.
I wanted to find a full review for this place when booking and I couldn’t. So felt I better write my own in the hope this helps someone.
I am currently staying at the resort, and I have to start of by saying we have had a great holiday and recommend the hotel, it’s very clean, well looked after and the pool is great.
Now onto some detail.
Location - our first time in Ferragudo, we liked the area, the town is small, but not too small, we did think choices of restaurants would be limited for us if staying longer than a week but let me explain that this is because we travelled with two small children and a teenager (fussy) and I did feel kid menus on the whole seemed to be limited. If you are a couple you will have endless choices. The food was delicious and didn’t have a bad meal once. But certainly was slightly difficult for us. Also in season, you need to book the popular restraunts. The resort itself is a 10 minute walk, downhill to the town, if you want an Uber it’s like 5euro, but we walked it fine. There is two routes down and one is much easier on the way home. It’s not as bad as the other comments say if you go the flatter route. The resort is 3 minutes drive away from the nearest big shop - continente. 20 mins drive to carveiro and 10 to Portimão. No real complaints from us, the town is a little quiet but that is a personal preference.
Hotel - Check in was seamless and staff were friendly and very helpful, you can drop them a WhatsApp and get a quick reply. The resort is one main “hotel” building surrounded by blocks of accommodation. Pool in the middle. The hotel reception is next to the restaurant (we never used but looked lovely) a bar with outside patio, and also connected is a small shop and laundry. The shop has most things you need for snacking and lunch, also swimming accessories, all reasonable prices. Top tip, buy the beer there 1.40 a can rather than 6e a pint at the bar. The bar does lunches and a snack menu, all looked nice although never used, we like a break from the sun and made our own.
The accommodation we had was 2 bed apartments. One double room (two singles) and one room with large double bed. There is also a large sofa bed in living room. The appartment we had “peralta” was superb, small kitchenette, living room, two bedrooms two patios and toilet. My only issue in room was the fridge in my opinion is too small for a family of 5 self catering- but saying that, we got by. Just. Perhaps I had too many beers in it. The appartment was very clean and modern, it was serviced most days. Pleased.
The whole property is clean, it’s very well presented and the staff all helpful.
The major selling point for this place is the pool, wow it’s brilliant. Very large main pool with a small baby pool and also 2nd (quieter)pool. Plenty sun loungers and shade and again the whole area is spotless. The pool is pretty shallow for the majority of it, which was perfect for us with the kids. But don’t let that put you off, it’s plenty deep enough to swim Legnths etc and there is a deep end. But no massive “drop off” like other pools. The pool area really is great. It’s open 930 to 9 and is gated.
They run a courtesy bus a few times a day, but I never used it. I’ve
All in all I recommend vitors. The hotel is great. There is no entertainment as such except for some live bar music on some nights but nothing for kids, if your after kids clubs then this isn’t it. But we didn’t want that, the kids made friends and had a ball, we eat out in ferragudo every night or Ubered to near towns. A lovely hotel, a lovely town and a lovely holiday, if you’re considering this place then hope this review helps you.
In summary -
No real bad points to talk about, I do think the 2 bedroom apartments that sleep 6 could do with a bigger fridge tho!
good points - loads. But pool and cleanliness are a standout.
Well done vitors.
Literally staying at your property and the front desk customer service was beyond disgusting. So rude - not only tried to place me in 1 but 2 rooms with active mold and damages in it. Had I not brought along your employee to the space god knows what I would be sitting in. Im being told the standard here is mold and I have to deal with this !!! This is insane and no adjustment can be made and your employees are not helpful at all. Not one substitution or solution has been placed!!! This is insane !
Min you in every magnitude tried everything for me to sits and stay in that moldy room
Omg what a place absolutely fantastic, rooms cleaned every day, towels changed every other day and sheets change twice a week, the appartments superb can not fault the pools are brilliant ,quite and relaxing, the staff are so polite and professional , and a ten min walk to ferragudo the maintenance is right on the button nothing looked shabby go and experience yourself.
Had an amazing relaxing stay at vitors village the hotel is so well maintained rooms are very spacious and clean. All of the staff are so friendly and helpful nothing was to much trouble for them . There is a courtesy shuttle to the beach but you can easy walk there in 15mins if your ok with a steep hill . Ferragudo is a beautiful unspoilt fishing village walking along the harbour you can see all the boats and a guy who cooks your fresh fish to order. There are lots of lovely restaurants to choose from in the square and also off the little side streets. There is a taxi boat at the harbour we chose to go to porta Rocha which was absolutely stunning it cost 5euro . If you want a traditional unspoilt Portuguese holiday then I would highly recommend Ferragudo the beaches stretch for miles with beautiful natural rock and also a privately owned castle is there. Plenty of little beach bars and not over crowded. Vitors Village thankyou so much for your hospitality your simply the best.
Firstly location is good although there is a steep walk back up to these apartments. Rooms are well equipped and in good condition. Pool area is decent with plenty of beds. Now for the bad bit. On arrival at the airport for our flight home my wife realised she had left her purse in the apartment with cards and cash inside. We contacted Vitors reception from the airport who told us they would get one of their staff to check the room. A few minutes later they rang to say they had the purse and would arrange to have it returned to our home address. My wife paid £38 euros to have it returned as it had £100 sterling and £80 euros left in the purse. If it had no cash my wife would simply have cancelled the cards and reordered from her bank. After a couple of weeks the purse arrived but all of the cash had gone. When we contacted Vitors they said they trusted all the staff and didn't take it any further. Obviously the cash went missing from being collected from the room to Reception ? This has left a sour taste with us after a lovely holiday and we certainly would not return to Vitors because of this.
