Very underwhelming
I’ve visited many all‑inclusive resorts across different countries—both adults‑only and family‑friendly—and this was unfortunately the most underwhelming experience I’ve had. While the room itself was clean and comfortable, the food throughout the resort was consistently bland and disappointing. Whether at the reservation‑only restaurants or the main buffet, nothing stood out, and after my first day I chose to eat off‑property for the remainder of my stay.
I traveled with my spouse, and we spent most of our time in the adults‑only section. The atmosphere there lacked energy and felt dull. The bar setup was especially underwhelming, offering mostly wine with very limited drink options, which made the experience feel even less enjoyable.
Overall, I did not enjoy my stay at this resort and do not plan to return. However, Portugal itself was absolutely beautiful, and I loved all the sightseeing and exploring I was able to do off the resort.
5th time staying
This was our 5th stay at Tivoli Alvor, and once again we had a fantastic holiday. It was just me and my two children (aged 10 and 11), and it’s become one of our favourite places to return to each year.
Since our first visit, we’ve noticed some really positive improvements, especially to the food and the evening entertainment. The buffet offers a much better variety than before, and we never had any trouble finding a table for dinner, even during busy times.
This year, the Shore Bar, where the evening entertainment is usually held, has been temporarily moved into a large tent in front of reception while it appears the original venue is being renovated. It worked surprisingly well! The larger stage gave the entertainment team plenty of space, and they really made the most of it. Our favourite evening was the Tropical Night, which had incredible dancehall energy and got everyone involved. We also really enjoyed the traditional Portuguese folklore show, which added a lovely local touch.
The tent has become a great social hub. Alongside the evening entertainment, there is a small shop selling swimwear, a lady creating colourful tererés (hair braids), plus the coffee and pastry station, ice cream stand, and popcorn stand. It creates a really relaxed atmosphere where families can sit and unwind throughout the evening.
We chose the Premium option again, mainly because of the breakfast, and for us it was absolutely worth it. It’s a lovely way to start the day.
One small change we noticed is that the ground-floor rooms no longer have two sun loungers on the terrace. Instead, they now have a table and two chairs, with the loungers moved onto the grass around the pools. Although we initially missed having loungers on our terrace, it wasn’t really an issue as we never struggled to find available loungers by the pools.
If you’re hoping for good seats for the evening shows, arriving about an hour before the entertainment starts (around 9:00 pm) gives you plenty of choice. We’d bring a deck of Uno cards and happily pass the time while waiting.
Overall, Tivoli Alvor continues to improve year after year. The friendly staff, excellent entertainment, improved dining experience, and relaxed family atmosphere are exactly why we keep coming back. We’re already looking forward to visit number six!

Could be so much better
We stayed here as a family of 3 in early July. The standard rooms are clean and comfortable but a bit on the small side. The grounds of the hotel are well maintained and generally tidy, however most mornings I would walk past empty glasses that had been left from the night before. The pools were clean and not overcrowded. Plenty of sun beds available round all of the pools. Animation team were good, not pushy but lots of different activities running throughout each day. 99% of the staff were friendly and helpful and were great with kids. Minimal queues at the bars. My main gripe and the reason i could only rate this hotel as 3 stars was the food. The main buffet restaurant that is used for breakfast, lunch and evening meal had lots of choice but the food was regularly cold and bland. However the other restaurants on the complex were very good. Overall a nice weeks break but could be so much better if they can sort out the cold bland food in the main restaurant.

Great value all inclusive in a really nice hotel.
We had a lovely week here at the start of July, the hotel is on a vast site with plenty of things to do with pools and sports facilities, gym & spa. The room we had was a good size, clean and we had a balcony. It was quiet and we did not get disturbed by other guests. There are many dining options and the main buffet restaurant is better than most we have had when doing all inclusive before. The à la carte restaurants that we ate at were decent, Carosello being the best. There is also a bakery, ice cream stall, bbq and snack bar. Breakfast was the highlight for us, absolutely excellent every day with loads of choice, great tasting food and freshly cooked options. We did pay to upgrade to premium all inclusive and it was worth it in our opinion. There was evening entertainment every night, but this isn’t really our thing so we avoided it and had a few drinks in the bar instead. Staff were always friendly and helpful and also arranged a hire car for us to go to slide and splash (also worth the trip). The beach is only a short walk away and there are some great drinking and dining options in Alvor if you feel like venturing out.

Further out from the airport around 45-50 mins taxi journey, trust me it’s worth the journey!
The atmosphere of the hotel is incredible, rooms were very modern. I’d say that they have a bit of an ant problem in the rooms on the lower floors, however, if you inform the staff when you arrive they will sort out the issue for you!
Definitely worth the money you spend as the food choices are great not just at the buffet restaurant but in the other restaurants too! I’d recommend booking the restaurants when you arrive however bear in mind you can only book 2 days in advance!
I never used the kids club so can’t really comment on that even though I travelled with a 3 year old but they had 5 different pools and only one of them were adult only! My 3 year old absolutely enjoyed himself and will be booking my next family holiday at this hotel in 2027! Staff were just amazing!
Cleanliness was great at the hotel.
Noise level depending on where you stay can vary. My room was close to the kids playground where they played football however, once doors are shut you can barely hear anything.
The best thing too is there’s a bridge which takes you directly to the beach approximately 15 mins walk probably just under and there’s a little shuttle train which takes you to the beach and back!
Honestly if you’re considering Portugal and want to escape the super touristy Albufeira you Should consider this hotel. Even if you do half board there are fantastic restaurants nearby too!
