⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (but experience felt closer to ⭐)
I’m glad we’re heading home in the morning. The hotel itself is beautiful, the staff have been excellent, and the setting is lovely, but the atmosphere around the pools has been a real let‑down.
A large group of British children have been behaving completely feral, running wild with no control, while their parents actively encourage the chaos. Constant shouting, diving, splashing, and no awareness of anyone trying to relax. It’s felt far more like Benidorm energy than the Algarve.
None of this is the hotel’s fault, but it has made the stay far less peaceful than expected.
Five stars for the hotel and staff. One star for the behaviour of certain guests. Very ready to go home.
Auf Wiedersehen
The entire team was great, helpful and very much customer-oriented. We would like to mention especially the Breakfast-Team, the Whenever-Whatever-Team (especially Eli, Bea and Steven) and last, but not least especially the Pool-Team with Bruna, Gustavo, Sam and all other members: Well done as we enjoyed every day when we were at the pool with an outstanding service and with lot of laughs and especially the debriefing. Food at paper moon was excellent and the entire team there really nice.
My experience was truly magical as soon as I arrived two cold sparkling waters. Then taken up to my room with my wife. My room 4038 was amazing a view of the ocean and the Pool. The dinner with stars above us at AIR was amazing. The pool was fun and relaxing. Thank you W for a five star stay. I look forward to coming back.
Just got back and will say the whole experience was perfect. The location is perfect for local access. The atmosphere is quiet and relaxed. We had a ground floor garden room that was spotless and cleaned twice a day. The whole hotel area was very clean and well maintained. The pool area was very nice but sadly the towels are out early. The staff through out were fantastic and some of the most polite and attentive I have ever met, they genuinely take an interest and are very helpful. Our safe did not work the first day and they swapped out immediately. The food was very good, only criticism is they should have a live cooking station at breakfast as had to order eggs and took time and usually cold. As for the surrounding area plenty of bars. Especially the New Dubliner, very good breakfast and you have to go to Jompra
We stayed at W Algarve for 8 nights and paid a premium price, but unfortunately it didn’t deliver the luxury experience we’d expected.
The service was friendly enough, but there were several disappointing moments. On our first night we ordered drinks that never arrived. The hotel was practically empty, so we decided to let it slide. However, the biggest issue came on our second night when housekeeping forgot to close our room door properly. We returned after dinner to find our door left ajar with all of our valuables still inside. We reported this to reception, but the response was simply that they would “make a note” for the housekeeping team, which felt underwhelming given the seriousness of the situation.
Breakfast was decent, but the selection was surprisingly limited. Compared with other luxury resorts at a similar price point, the spread was easily half of what we’d normally expect.
The gym is excellent, well equipped and offering fantastic views, but charging hotel guests extra to use the sauna and ice rooms feels unreasonable considering the already premium room rates. It’s not what you’d expect from a luxury resort.
The rooms are undoubtedly the highlight. They’re spacious, beautifully designed, and finished with stylish furniture and thoughtful touches throughout. The décor feels modern yet tasteful, and details such as the quality crockery and elegant tableware add to the sense of luxury.
Overall, while the property itself is beautiful, too many service shortcomings prevented the experience from matching the premium price tag.
