Our rooms were clean and spacious. The pool was wonderful and the perfect, quiet and friendly atmosphere. The best part was how Federico & Alejandro handled a passport that was left behind. They went out of their way to make sure it was returned in a timely manner. I commend them for their work ethic and commitment to their guests. Obrigada!
Amazing experience ... I will advise everyone to visit once and see the magic.
I actually stayed at the Muthu Balaia Sol so got dinner at the 'Golden Buffet' at this hotel as part of my all inclusive package. I only meant to go to the buffet once but ended up going all 4 nights of my stay! Gabriel and the other restaurant staff looked after me brilliantly as a solo female traveller, and the concierge at reception was lovely too. The food was also great! Would highly recommend and am hoping to go back next year.
There was black mold in the bathroom on the ceiling. The top shower holder had broken so we had to hold the shower hose every time we showered as it was by our waist. No bathroom hand soap. You had to get a shuttle to different hotels to have lunch and dinner which sometimes took 50 minutes. Most staff were lovely which was an upside and the breakfast was really nice. You had to pay for the good drinks at the bar, but the bar man was lovely which made our experience better. We were given no room sign to indicate whether or not we wanted our room cleaned, we told the cleaners outside to NOT clean our room one day (as we had valuables inside) they said ok, and they proceeded to clean our room and leave the front door unlocked.
I have just finished 10 days at the Muthu Balaia Sol - I visit Portugal a few times each year and this was my first time staying here.
Overall, a very good experience, in that the hotel is in a generally quiet spot, everything is really clean, rooms aren't particularly out of date, etc.
The accommodation is basic, lacking in certain basic bits of kitchenware which would have been useful such as colander, grater, mugs, etc. but everything else required was generally present. There was a dog located in a nearby villa which whined loudly most of the time I was there and was still audible with shutters and balcony doors closed at night, which was exceedingly annoying but out of the control of the Muthu staff.
Slight issues at night as the main dual carriageway was about 100ft away and seemed to be the gathering place for evening speed trials and drifting competitions! However, this was only for about 10 minutes each evening 🤣 Walls/doors don't stop sound transmission so I had the pleasure of listening the the Scottish bloke stating opposite side.of the corridor toe.auffering with his COPD, coughing and wheezing lots, hacking up who knows what - I empathise with him and his suffering but the building set up is such that I heard said suffering as tgough I was in the room with him.
Overall a pleasant place to be, excellent pool and loads of sun-loungers, on-site bar, lovely staff, close to everything but still far enough away to be a bit rural.
