Grand Muthu Oura View Beach Club

Our experience at Grand Muthu Oura View Beach Club / Muthu Clube Praia da Oura was incredibly disappointing and fell far below the standard we expected from a hotel advertising itself as five-star.

One of the biggest issues was the attitude and professionalism of certain staff members, particularly at reception. We experienced poor communication, confusion regarding what was included in our stay, and promises about services and reservations that were not followed through on. When we tried to get issues resolved, we often felt ignored rather than helped. At times, staff made us feel as though our concerns were a joke, which was extremely disrespectful and unprofessional.

We were also shocked by the lack of consideration shown toward guests who do not drink alcohol and toward someone who is pregnant. Guests should never feel uncomfortable, judged, or disrespected because they choose not to drink, especially when there is a pregnancy involved. We expected basic understanding and courtesy, not to feel as though these circumstances were an inconvenience to staff.

Another frustrating experience was receiving calls to our room at 10 a.m. that were immediately hung up on, waking us when we were already dealing with jet lag. This was unnecessary and added to an overall feeling of disorganisation and poor communication throughout our stay.

Housekeeping was another issue. We had to repeatedly push to have our room cleaned, something that should not require a fight when staying at a resort of this supposed standard. We also found the overall service inconsistent, with requests and arrangements that had been discussed not being properly followed through on.

The food and dining experience also left much to be desired. The selection and variety were disappointing, and there was confusion surrounding which drinks, extras, and services were actually included. The overall experience did not match what we had anticipated when booking our holiday.

What should have been a relaxing holiday became a stressful experience in which we spent far too much time trying to resolve problems that should never have occurred in the first place.

A holiday resort should make guests feel welcome, comfortable, and respected. Unfortunately, that was not our experience. The lack of professionalism, poor communication, inconsistent service, and disregard for our concerns overshadowed our stay.

We chose this resort expecting a high standard of hospitality, but the experience did not live up to those expectations. I would strongly encourage management to review how guest complaints are handled, improve staff communication and professionalism, and ensure that all guests are treated with basic respect and consideration.

Based on our experience, I would not choose to stay here again.

My mother and I went here for a week in Sept 26. It was so great.

The staff were wonderful. Thank you so much to the entertainment team: (Rosmery, Leyamma and Edgar) for being so fun. Rosmery was especially wonderful during the day time activities and I recommend joining in!

The food was varied (especially as with all inclusive you can book the included specialty restaurants or go to the other buffets). I would recommend booking the restaurant for however long you are staying as soon as you can. Our favourites were the Italian (forgotten the name) and the Sea Moon for piri piri chicken. The Italian portions are rather large so don’t be like me and get too excited about the buffet starters. I will be recreating the carrots from the Sea moon starter.

The location was amazing. Easy to take the bus or tourist train into the city centre which was so fun for a night day out. Onsite, the spa was lovely and the pools were massive. If you are going to stay at one of the Grand Muthu Hotels in the area, I heavily recommend this one as the location, pool size were the best with access to the same food as well.
