- The Phoenicia Malta

The finest hotels around the world – like the The Phoenicia Malta near Valetta – have all earned their reputation over time. Indeed, the Phoenicia Hotel tends to make such an impression on its guests that they keep coming back.
As soon as you arrive at the impressive entranceway with its pillared entrance and portico, you'll see just how special the Phoenicia Hotel is. Absolutely in keeping with the traditional grandeur of the capital city, Valetta, it is a wonderful venue from which to really come to appreciate the very best that Malta has to offer.
The Phoenicia Malta's 1920's design aesthetic is a welcome breath of fresh air – richly and comfortably furnished and full of beautiful details. It's grand but very accessible – the thickly upholstered plush chairs are there to be sat on, for example.
Working in such a grand interior, the Phoenicia Malta staff have to work hard to ensure that the service they offer matches up. That the level of service here is consistently impeccable is a testament to them – and a big factor in bringing so many people back here year after year.
Classic twin/double air-conditioned or heated rooms are well-equipped with satellite TV, free Wi-Fi, radio, phone, safe, tea and coffee making facilities, complimentary non-alcoholic mini-bar, and hairdryer. Superior Rooms, Executive Rooms and Deluxe Harbour View Rooms are available at a supplement.
There are beautiful swimming pools, there are wonderful choices to be made in the hotel's two à la carte restaurants; there is even a hotel jewellery shop. (And of course, there's an excellent gym.) To top it all off, the Phoenicia Hotel is set in seven acres of landscaped gardens.
The happy combination of its distinctive design and exceptional service means that the Phoenicia Malta richly deserves every one of its five stars. That it's a convenient gateway for Valetta almost makes you wish you could give it a sixth star!

The Phoenicia still retains its reputation as one of Malta's leading hotels and it has a devoted following of guests who return year after year. Reflecting the grand style of the 1920's with elegant rooms and furnishings, it exudes an air of quiet luxury and efficient service. The hotel enjoys a prime position just outside the main gateway to Valletta. The historical three cities or fashionable Sliema are located just across the harbour, which can be reached by car, boat or bus.
My wife and I visited Malta at the conclusion of an 18 day trip beginning in France with several intermediate stops and then a cruise ending in Malta. We were tired and needed a place that was comfortable and restorative. The Phoenecia was absolutely perfect. It is a true 5 star hotel. We have stayed in many - in the States and abroad. Not one single request was denied or was even reason for a pause. Excellent stay.
We booked the Phoenicia Hotel for a small wedding, and were extremely pleased with the whole process from booking to the wedding day. The Events team supported us throughout the process and made the bride and groom feel very special.
My second visit - a very relaxing four night break which was even better than the first. The Phoenicia is a beautiful hotel, stunning gardens, well maintained and very importantly during a particularly hot August perfect air con neither too hot nor too cold and it’s airy and spacious too. A five minute walk into Valletta but to be honest in that heat all you wanted to do was crash by the pool. Hotel is very well maintained from the building, the gardens and the rooms which have everything one can wish for. Staff are very helpful and obliging and nothing is too much effort. Spa is very good not cheap by a long way but the treatments and facilities are good. Listen to the reception staff when they say you don’t need to get to the airport too early! The bar staff are lovely and their off menu dry martini and manhattans are delicious, the 1919 Marsovin rose on the wine list puts Chateau Mirabeau and Whispering Angel to shame . The pool staff are lovely and helpful and they do an amazing spritz with a Maltese liqueur divine. Breakfasts are good and plentiful. Downsides it is expensive, a minor mistake with the bill was immediately rectified and I wouldn’t have the poolside barbecue again but I will return. Thank you to all for a special trip
A memorable visit in every way! Everything was just perfect!
Luxurious hotel. Felt like royalty staying her. Staff so helpful and courteous we came for our 50 th wedding anniversary. Was wonderful. Dinner in the Contessa Restaurant was sublime.
