Overall, I expected a buffet breakfast for the price I paid. I was also disappointed that items such as cheese and cold cuts were left out instead of being kept refrigerated. Unfortunately, we also found cockroaches in our room, which was very unpleasant and made our stay uncomfortable. Because of these issues, I was not satisfied with the overall experience.
Im on the fence about this hotel as some parts were excellent and others not so much. Firstly we had a suite with a hot tub over looking the bay, the room was lovely albeit a bit dated in places such as the red velvet around the bed being grubby, the cream fur rug was dirty and there was wallpaper peeling off in places too. Our patio door out to the hot tub and bathroom didnt shut fully either, it wasnt a huge problem just meant outside noises were louder at night as the window next to the hot tub is permanently open too.
We had two showers, both didnt have much pressure unfortunately and the shower cubicle leaked as its didnt sit flush to the wall so had to use a towel to mop up all the water after each shower.
The hotel itself is situated on the side of a very busy road which meant this made sleeping very difficult due to the heavy noisey traffic at all hours. Whilst this isnt the hotels fault it does make it a nuisance and would put me off booking again.
All the staff in the hotel are so incredibly friendly and kind, could not fault any one of them.
The restaurant is lovely, over looking the bay and they were always able to accommodate us even without a reservation. There is fair choice of dishes on the menu and a special menu to choose from also (although this remained the same throughout the course of the week that we stayed)
The rooftop pool and bar was excellent, the views are amazing, we was always able to get a sunbed although if you wanted a bed next to the infinity pool you would have to be there early to secure one. The bar man that worked the pool bar is so kind and helpful too. Cant fault any of it.
The indoor pool is beautiful too although its so hot and humid in there we just couldn't use it.
Sadly I do have some gripes about certain aspects of the cleanliness of the hotel. The hallway carpets were not hoovered at all during the week we stayed, I know this as there are bits all over it and on the 1st day of our stay on route to the indoor pool, we noticed a dead cockroah outside a bedroom door and sadly this was still there on our last day too. Also the stairs leading up to the pool bar were also grubby, there were wire cuttings on the stairs, plaster dust and general dirt. The ceiling above the stairs was shabby where water has obviously leaked through and brought flakes of the ceiling down and this has never been cleaned up. And whilst these matters didnt affect our stay in the hotel, we paid a lot of money to stay there and our expectation is that the hotel is clean and tidy. I think thats a basic expectation.
The loaction whilst it's a beautiful view of the bay, there is nothing much to do in the area especially in the way of bars or restaurants so due to this we ended up having to get taxis out to other towns to find different places to eat and drink which becomes costly as taxis in malta are not cheap.
On our last day we wre not being picked up until 5pm but had to be out the room by 11am. We asked for a late check out and was told they couldn't agree this until the morning of checkout. However on the morning of checkout they were not able to give a late checkout later than 12pm but tried to smooth this over by saying we could shower in the rooftop shower which offers no privacy and would mean doing so in full view of if the customers up there and next to the bar or we could shower in the indoor pool shower which also meant no privacy as its again all open to the customers and in full view and especially as there are cameras in there too. We had no where to change into dry clothing and I had to straighten my hair in the lobby of the hotel, again in view of staff and customers as there were no plug sockets anywhere for me to do this. We found this poor as again had paid alot of money to stay here and the fact they didnt have a private room with shower for us to use was extremely poor.
We stayed here for the first half of our honeymoon and the hotel is fabulous. We were able to get in our room before check in time, rooms absolutely beautiful, perfect for couples. We had a room with a hot tub with an incredible view. The pools are beautiful, food is impeccable and lovely cocktails. Anything we needed the staff were so quick to help, friendly and can’t do enough for you. In particular I’d like to mention Manju, he was constantly smiley, helpful and couldn’t do enough for us continuously throughout our stay. Amazing stay and we will definitely return!
