spent the last 3 days sick from the aircon out of 5 nights, spent £700 on this hotel just to be sick for most of it. some guy came in the room when we were sleeping without even knocking for housekeeping
A lot of money for no sleep
We stayed here for just under a week, and whilst the hotel lobby and pool areas are nice, our room was quite tired and small. There aren't any mod-cons like USB plugs, etc. but the hairdryer and iron were good. It wasn't as fancy/big as the pictures of the other rooms, but was really clean, and the shower was great. The reception and pool bar workers were really friendly, as were the cleaners we encountered, so we definitely can't fault the staff.
We wish we had looked into the bad reviews more before booking, as the area is really not what we thought "lively" meant. We thought this meant that it wasn't as quiet as Valletta and had some nice restaurant and bar options that might stay open a little bit later than normal. What "lively" means here is that there are a lot of tacky, Ibiza/Benidorm-ish bars and clubs. The noise could be heard in our 2nd floor room until about 3am and then the patrons come back to the hotel screaming, shouting, and banging until 4 or 5am. Then the next morning, the amount of litter on the streets is unbelievable. I would NOT recommend you stay in this area if you aren't the partying type/on a stag or hen do.
The hotel is also surrounded by construction work, though I understand that can't be solved by the hotel themselves. Just be warned that the area is seemingly under constant construction everywhere, and it was a struggle leaving the hotel as there wasn't a functioning pavement next to it and it's on a very narrow road with a lot of traffic. The construction noise did stop at weekends and evenings, but if you want a nap in the day, or to sleep past 9am, you'd struggle.
We paid almost £900 for a very basic hotel room where we couldn't get much sleep. If we ever do decide to return to Malta, we'll be heading somewhere much quieter

Good for the price
Friendly staff. Clean and nicely designed hotel. Rooms are a good size but dont allow for much privacy in the toilet and bathroom. Pool area is a good layout but the music was a bit random/loud. Reasonably priced cocktails. Good location, close to all bays with a shop nearby.

Blah, wouldn't reccomend
Ok so its 3 stars overall. The rooms are equal to la quinta in the states but more $$. The lobby is nice, the pool is ok but im just not happy about the location. I rushed as this stop was last minute. The view is non existent. There was construction across the street and i had to keep my balcony closed to muffle the sound. They dont have room service except for a basic breakfast ( that in a motel would be called continental and free). There was a bit of am issue as a female solo traveler (On October 19, shortly after 9 PM, an unidentified male knocked on my hotel room door with a muffled voice. As a solo female traveler, I felt unsafe and called the front desk requesting security. After some hesitation, I was told it was an employee delivering complimentary wine. Sending an unidentified male to my room late at night without prior notice was alarming, inappropriate, and unprofessional. I expect management to address this serious lapse in guest safety) There was a hair in my bedsheets, the shower had debris that washed away agter the girst hose of the shower. I personally would NOT recommend this property.
Side note: if it was cheaper and you're younger and like a party, this place might be for you. The uber driver said st julian is a party and lively area. I contest as at night i heard lively activities. That didn't bother me in this case. More so cleanliness, safety comcerns, and atmosphere (my fault)
Good and bad points
Positives - room was spotless, modern and spacious. Great staff. Pool area clean and nice . Lovely lobby area. Handy for shops and restaurants. Negatives - really noisy area. Lots of outside noise with construction and in a very busy bar area. The pool has really random loud music when you're trying to relax . Lots of banging in the hotel as everyone's coming back from their nights out .
