Lovely hotel. Do your research for dinners if staying as a family and not all inclusive.

Lovely hotel, lovely staff and lovely facilities.

We stayed on the 10th floor in a sharing room. We are 2 adults and 2 teenagers but we had 2 double beds, so we had to ask for a "camp" bed for one teenager as I cant imagine expecting my two near adult children sleeping in one bed for 2 weeks. The manager was very efficient in sorting the problem so was very happy with how this was dealt with

Our bedroom was lovely but I did find the bathroom quite tired. The shower tray looked like it was not washed from muddy footprints but it was how it was. Found that quite odd. And also first world problem, I found the toilet paper to be very thin.
Towels were supplied along with body wash, shampoo and conditioner. Lovely sized bath.

Housekeeping did a great job every day even with our extra bed.

Balcony was a lovely size but did feel it was quite close to our neighbours, but you ignore and get on. I brought a washing line for swimwear and towels etc.

Breakfast was busy but never felt too confined. Cooked eggs and pancake station was great along with the usual wide variety of foods available in the buffet. We didnt eat lunch or dinner here. We did have lunch at the pool on the 10th floor which was grand. When its windy, there is no shade as the umbrellas would have flown away.

The pool is lovely. We just visited the 19th floor pool but as we had under 18s we stayed at the 10th floor pool. The pool as expected can get busy and it is restricted in depth so nice to cool off but certainly no proper swimming opportunities. Its "first come" for sunbeds and umbrellas which I found manageable, no setting alarms at 7am. Problem was when it was windy and you cant use the umbrella's, its gets hot...so position yourself right next to the building with the greenery on it and eventually you'll get shade. You get towel cards so good to have towels each day supplied rather than bringing your own.

The hotel itself is a lovely size and great space. It certainly is a world away from Paceville, the next door nightlife. We never heard anything and the only way you would know that it was a party area, was the morning after the night before. It does get busy with people early ish evening but once you know where to go and not go, it can be avoided. Amazing locality for 20 year olds who want a good time. Neon lights, black steps and plenty of screens and music!

The hotel has its own private beach. You can use your towel tokens here rather than having to carry them. Also wait staff for drinks and food or you can sit at table and chairs. Its gritty "sand" but there are walk ways down to the sea. I didnt like the idea of swimming in a harbour but it actually was okay as the boats are stationery and no fuel spillage. The salt content must be large as its very easy float !

There is a back door to the hotel on level 8. Walk out the door, straight up the road and a little turn and you'll see Wellbees. A great supermarket. I signed up for their loyalty app and got some discounts off sun cream. Handy for large water bottles to bring back to your room. And snacks There is also a Spar across the road from the front of the hotel, it has good lunch ideas at a deli and you can eat in. We were told that we couldn't bring food to beside the pool from outside but you can bring back to your room.

We walked to Portomaso to a few restaurants. Also walked to Spinola Bay region for more eating out.

We did the Camino Blue Lagoon Gozo trip and I would recommend this as a break away from routine.

Perfect

Just checked out after a 7 night stay and honestly I cannot fault this hotel. The room was spacious and clean and hotel itself is very well kept. We didn’t bother getting passes for the sky beach/bar because the outdoor pool and private beach pretty much covered what you need. It’s in a very central location and while there is a very young crowd around from a nightlife perspective, if you got past all of the clubs there are some very trendy and comfortable bars and cafes. Like many of the reviews here the biggest plus for this hotel are its staff. A big shout out to Raluca on reception, Sonu in the Brass Bar who is a master bartender, Adil, Lucia, Victoria and Pramila at the private beach were very attentive, and Kumar and Donatas who served us very eloquently in the Waterbuiscuit restaurant. We would definitely stay here again.

We will be back - 5 huge stars!

Amazing stay at InterContinental Malta!

We were a family of six and decided to splurge on the 3-bedroom Duplex Suite – and it was absolutely worth it. The suite is enormous (around 230 m²) with very high ceilings, making it feel even more spacious. If your budget allows, I highly recommend booking one of the Highline Suites (I believe they're all located on floors 17–19).

One of the biggest advantages is that Highline guests enjoy access to the Executive Lounge and the adults-only Skybeach pool on the 19th floor. The Executive Lounge was outstanding. Breakfast and the evening cocktail service were exceptional, while afternoon tea was also very good, even if not quite at the same level as the other offerings. The combination of the lounge, the views, and the attentive service really elevates the entire stay.

As with so many great hotels, what truly makes the difference is the people. The team at InterContinental Malta delivered some of the best hospitality we've experienced.

Unfortunately, I didn't catch everyone's names, but a few deserve special recognition. Njabarti, Kumar and Joniel in the Executive Lounge were incredibly friendly, welcoming and attentive. They remembered our preferences, anticipated our needs, and always greeted us with genuine smiles.

A special thank you also goes to Manoj from Housekeeping. Our suite was immaculate throughout the entire stay. He ensured everything was perfectly maintained, provided thoughtful evening turndown service, kept us well stocked with water and amenities, and somehow managed to do it all without ever interrupting us—even though we were constantly coming and going. Every time we met him in the hallway, he greeted us warmly and always asked if there was anything else he could do for us. That level of care and genuine hospitality meant a lot to our family.

We also spent several afternoons at the Skybeach pool, where the team consistently found us great sun loungers, even on busy days. (A small tip: arrive early on Saturdays and Sundays, or ask the team if they can reserve loungers for you.)

Finally, Paranga, the hotel's beachfront restaurant, was excellent. The seafood was fresh, beautifully prepared and definitely worth a visit.

If you're visiting Malta—especially St. Julian's—I can't recommend InterContinental Malta highly enough. And if you can stretch to one of the Highline Suites, it transforms an already excellent hotel into a truly memorable luxury experience.

Do NOT stay here if you have children.

Do NOT stay here with children. Location is awful. Currently on our annual summer family holiday with 2 children (14 & 12 years old). First full day we took the children to the outdoor pool and found that the pool is small, only slightly deeper than 1 metre throughout, thus meaning that the water only comes up to the children’s chest level, so they can’t do handstands or play underwater games like in pools in other hotels. Told off by lifeguards for using a soft mini pool ball as you aren’t allowed to throw in this pool. Children bored in 5 minutes as the pool is too small to swim much so we took them to the indoor pool. The indoor pool was packed with young adults too - found out that the hotel shares their pools with the next door Holiday Inn guests so both the indoor and outdoor pools are packed with young adults who are all using inappropriate language and here to get drunk! We were told the indoor pool was full so decided to go to the private beach. Big mistake. Several couples frolicking and practically having s*x in the water and on the sand by the water’s edge on the shoreline! The children giggling and pointing just encouraged the young adults to put on more of a show. The private beach is small so we couldn’t move further away as we had moved as far to the side as possible and the couples are still right there! Wouldn’t think twice if this occurred on a public beach but with our children and on a private beach with other children, maybe the hotel staff could have told them to maybe not be ontop of each other humping for the 2 hours we were there for! The only other option is to pay €80/person/day (€70 is then redeemable against food) to use the sky beach pool. The photos look good (but so did the outdoor pool and beach and they were misleading - shallow, small pool etc) but to be honest that isn’t in our budget - we paid a lot to come to a good 5 star hotel and were not expecting to pay more to use a good pool for the children. In the evening we went out of the hotel for dinner and found that we are situated right in the middle of party central! All the bars and clubs are right outside! Had a lit cigarette butt flicked onto me - thank goodness not onto my child. It was 9pm and everyone was already drunk/high - streets heaving - music blaring - vomit all over the streets etc. excellent if you are around 20 years old and here for that kind of holiday but we thought this was a respectable hotel so would be in a respectable area. Went to another part of Malta for dinner and the taxi driver told us that the place our hotel is in is awful and later in the evening the roads will be lined with sleeping drunk people. He said in all his years alive he will never go out in this area because it is so bad and we shouldn’t be staying here with children. How were we to know - the hotel was advertised as a family ‘resort-style hotel’. I have never written a review before but this is only day 3 of our stay and I’m beyond upset. Please do not stay here if you have children - the children have already asked if we can go to a normal place next year and it breaks my heart as we save up for one holiday a year and the children look forward to 2 weeks of fun in a pool a year, but this year is starting off as a disaster and exposing them to this raucous behaviour is upsetting.

Standard western chain hotel.

Everything you would expect from a major international chain hotel. Located in a busy area of St. Julians with some dubious businesses right around the corner up the steps. Staff very nice, food was good at the outlets I tried but Paranga can be avoided (it is outside of the hotel on the bay). Club Intercontinental put on a good evening spread with lots of drink choices. A bit hard to get away from the noise at night, higher room the better. Gym is provided by a separate company but is accessible from inside the hotel. Has indoor and outdoor (seasonal) pools.
