As a couple visiting Malta for the first time, we spent 5 nights at this hotel and had a wonderful stay overall. Here is our detailed breakdown:
Location (10/10): Absolutely perfect. It is beachfront and incredibly close to shopping malls, restaurants, cafes, 24-hour grocery stores, and nightlife. There is also a bus station nearby with a direct line to the airport (bus TD2 takes less than 30 minutes). Despite being close to everything, the hotel remains peaceful and quiet because of its unique position at the tip of the bay.
Check-in & Out (7/10): A smooth and easy process, though we did have to wait until exactly 3:00 PM to access our room.
Staff (10/10): The team was incredibly kind, welcoming, and helpful throughout our entire stay.
Room - Superior Sea View Queen (8/10): The room and bed were very spacious. It features a great balcony, a modern TV with excellent streaming/connectivity options, quality slippers, basic amenities, and two complimentary bottles of water daily. The bathroom was large and spotless. On the downside, there is no minibar in the room (only a safe). The AC worked brilliantly during the hot days, but its performance at night was only average—we expected stronger cooling for sleeping. While the furniture and flooring are quite dated, everything is kept impeccably clean and functional. Soundproofing was satisfactory.
Common Spaces (8/10): The lobby, gym, pools, elevators, and dining areas are all in great shape. Even though the hotel is large and has a traditional, older aesthetic, it is very well-maintained. A huge plus is that you can also access the facilities of neighboring sister hotels. Wonderfull swimming opportunity with many shades and beach chairs.
Wi-Fi (7/10): Generally good in most areas, but the signal strength and connection speed definitely need improvement down by the beach.
Security (8/10): Feels very safe, with front desk staff available 24/7.
Breakfast (10/10): Outstanding! We thoroughly enjoyed the breakfast selection every morning.
Hygiene (8/10): Clean and tidy throughout the property.
Overall (8/10): We had a lovely experience and would definitely consider staying here again on our next trip to Malta!
Everything was perfect, everyone was so nice and we had a perfect week. The hotel ist amazing and I can only recommend it. Especially Ravi was such a nice person!
The hotel itself is stunning, aged but traditional so it still feels beautiful. It’s not the hotels fault that external road works are happening although this intense to walk through each morning, so we haven’t taken the rating down for this.
The loss of 2 points is purely from how rude and unwelcoming the staff were. We got placed into a mouldy room where the smell was enough to make you sick. We didn’t want to be rude so we opened the doors and ran the aircon and went for a walk. We came back 3 hours later and the smell was still unbearable. We called reception to let them know and they moved us to another room (no apology) and the room was on a lower floor with not enough towels, no water, no coffee, no body soap and no remote for the TV. The mould issue sounded like a regular problem as they were not at all shocked. We just thanked them for moving us and didn’t make a fuss.
Next we went and explored the pool, followed by the lobby overlooking the pool. I was sitting in an ankle length skirt, shoes and two toned nylon top looking out to the water with my mum. I was there for 20 minutes drinking a coffee (again that they had got the order wrong but I wasn’t going to say anything) and a man approached me who worked there and told me to cover up. I didn’t have anything else on me and was very embarrassed that he had asked this so I left and went back to the room.
Later in the night my mum and brother revisited the lobby area (I was feeling uncomfortable and unwelcome so stayed in the room). They were seated trying to enjoy the view when a man working there approached and again asked them to move as they were about to start internal works where they were sitting. Mum said she felt like we literally couldn’t sit anywhere.
Most times you’d walk into the hotel and no one would greet you. At one stage one man did, outside of that no one. Even small things you’d expect like luggage assistance didn’t happen.
At this price point, you expect a degree of service and all we experienced were unwelcoming, defensive and rude staff.
It’s such a shame as this trip was very special to us for personal reasons and we travelled almost 40 hours from Australia. We are generally easy going travellers and leave 5 star praise every where we go as all being in people facing roles we understand things can be tough. The service here though would honestly be a 1/5 (being generous).
I really hope this is reflected upon and other guests willing to spend what we did are treated much better.
Very Nice and confortable hôtel. Pleasant and very attentive staff. Many thanks Oumaina and colllegues.
