Some staff friendly, room very basic but overall tricky experience as we were there when they had the laundry room fire and we were put up in the Odcy hotel instead - the contrast was phenomenal compared to the Mayflower! Thankfully we were able to return to get our stuff from our room and no one was hurt in the fire but will not be returning - great sales lady in reception though - the tours she recommended were fabulous! Three cities coach and city walk in the evening and the three island full day boat tour including lunch was.amazing! - would recommend both of these!
Very disappointing experience
Unfortunately, my experience at the Mayflower Hotel was extremely disappointing. The rooms were not properly clean, and it feels as though almost everything comes with an additional charge. For what the hotel offers, I found the overall value for money very poor. The housekeeping staff themselves seem to work extremely hard and under considerable pressure. They were often visibly exhausted, sweating and looking overwhelmed, which gave me the impression that the problem is not necessarily the employees, but rather how the department is being managed.
The breakfast area is unattractive and overpriced for what is offered. Serving pastizzies as though they were some sort of elaborate breakfast dish certainly did not help justify the price. However, my biggest concern was management. The person who appeared to be the General Manager came across as arrogant, rude and completely lacking in basic hospitality skills. Even more concerning was the person who appeared to be responsible for housekeeping. Her attitude was unpleasant and unprofessional, but what concerned me most was the apparent lack of basic hygiene and sanitation standards. I personally witnessed employees being instructed to take water from the swimming pool to use for cleaning rooms and bathrooms while the hotel was without normal running water. For a hotel, this raises serious questions about hygiene, sanitation and management practices. Hard-working employees deserve better working conditions, and guests deserve much better standards. I would not recommend this hotel.
So much bad stuff to say about this hotel. We (a couple) booked a room months ahead and I selected one big bed. Upon arrival we get two separate beds, we ask them to change the room or help us. They refuse to change the room and blame us for booking the wrong room. They offer a double mattress but they will only change to it 3 days later, if we want it before that we need to pay 10 euro per night (30 euro). They refuse to change the sheets more often than every 3 days, and if you do want it changed you have to tell them otherwise they won't change. The mattress cover was dirty and covered in blood? See attached picture.
Breakfast was not pleasant at all, not much to choose from and everything was tasteless.
All the towels stunk vinegar which was disgusting and they had holes in them because they were so used/old. If you want to weigh your bagage in the hotel you have to pay 1 euro. If you check out early and want to leave the bags and use the pool you have to pay 10 euro per person to take a shower for 30 minutes. This hotel is SUPER greedy, the only thing left is to charge for breathing air. Staff is rude and never asked how our stay was and never greeted us. Rooms are super dirty and badly cleaned especially the bathrooms. The towels you borrow to use for the beach/pool area are children sized (super small).
Please save your money and book another hotel, this hotel is super stingy and does not care about their customers!
Stayed here for 10days Good location, hotel is card only no cash, we booked a superior room, not sure what the difference is to a standard room. Was cleaned every day but quite late in the day sometimes. We usually like to sit on the balcony, but it was a wall and you couldn’t see over it unless you stood up, but not all balconies were like that. Breakfast was okay not a great choice though, there was a lot of flies on the food, which they could have controlled as it was air conditioned but the doors were left open. Lovely lady sat in reception that you could ask any info and arrange tours through, which was very helpful. Loved Malta
Location was perfect & quite. Amazing views from the rooftop pool. The only downside of the pool was the cleanliness, not ideal finding other people's hair floating past you and layers of people's suncream. Im not sure how often the pool its cleaned but could be alot more cleaner due to the amount of people using it. Rooms were cleaned every day although our bathroom had a bad smell & found mold on the wall & balcony. Air-conditioning wasn't great, we had it on a setting of 16 & on high but found you was still sweating in the room, not powerful at all. Had a lovely stay but wouldn't come back to this hotel due to a few issues.
