When you really want to get away from it all, the Ramla Bay Resort is an ideal destination. With its own 350 metre stretch of coastline, it occupies a secluded spot on the northern coast. It all feels very exclusive and when you're sipping a long, cool drink on the private sandy beach you'll appreciate just what a special resort this is.
Exclusivity doesn't mean being cut off from the rest of the island though. Not a bit of it. Mellieha is nearby– a charming hilltop village – and a popular destination for sightseers. Further along the coast, you'll find more fantastic beaches and places to explore.

There's a moment in every good holiday when you really start to relax. Sometimes it only happens a day or two before you're going home. At the Ramla Bay Hotel, it usually comes very quickly. With its superb facilities, enviable location and out-of-the-way exclusivity it's easy to give in to the feeling and relax completely.
So it's a good thing the accommodation is so conducive to relaxing. It's fair to say that the rooms are larger than average. All rooms feature a balcony/terrace. Rooms at the Ramla Bay Resort are complete with en-suite bathroom, hairdryer, air conditioning, flat-screen TV, tea and coffee making facilities, telephone and free Wi-Fi. Your room also includes a complimentary safe, ironing facilities, pool towels, and a mini bar stocked once upon arrival. Seaview rooms are available at a supplement.
As well as the splendour of its own private beach (May to October), the Ramla Bay Hotel features three outdoor pools and an indoor pool; they also run outings to the local watersports centre. In addition, you can play a quick game of tennis, tone up in the gym, followed by a spa treatment or a visit to the snack bar.
A choice of two light, airy hotel restaurants maintain the same levels of quality, ensuring your relaxation and your contentment levels stay topped up for the duration of your stay.

Fantastic holiday
Have had a weeks stay at his resort and enjoyed the hotel. A special mention to Shoriful in The Brigantine bar, always happy, smiling and helpful .
A mixed review
Having read all the great reviews about this hotel, we had no hesitation in booking a stay here. To be honest, not impressed but first the positives. Most of the staff are amazing the cleaning team, rooms are spotlessly clean, the team who work in the restaurants friendly and helpful, the pool staff and reception team also great, especially Nicole on reception who was incredibly helpful escalating our issue to her manager and getting it sorted really quickly. One of the reasons we booked this hotel was the food. The hotel advertises itself as having a good range of vegan and vegetarian dishes. One of our group is a vegetarian and often struggles to get a good choice of food in holiday hotels. The salad bar was fantastic, but the main courses for vegans/vegetarians are poor, bland pasta most days. Meat eaters also found the food underwhelming, although the desserts were lovely😊so we mainly had salad and dessert. Our rooms had amazing views of Gozo and Comino, but they were tired, we had to ask for the mattresses in our rooms to be changed as they were old and saggy and when we showed the maintenance guy them, we discovered they were all bady stained, one with blood and black mould. Thanks to Nicole for getting these changed for us. The rooms did not have irons or kettles, you have to request these at reception. TV’s are old and basic, very few English channels and we could not find any English news channel at all. During our stay they was some sort of women’s football event and the nicest restaurant for dinner was taken over by numerous teams, leaving very few tables available for other guests. Most nights it resembled a school dining room, so noisy. We often struggled to find a table and we could not easily converse because of the nouse. Quite a few people including ourselves left without finishing our food. We paid half board plus which meant we got drinks and water with our evening meal, however the entrance was policed by restaurant staff and when we attempted to take a half bottle of water out it was taken off us, what were they going to do with an open bottle of water? Throw it away when water is so precious on the island, very bizarre. We were only taking what we had paid for, really strange for a 4 star hotel. Also during our stay there was building working going on by the pool areas, a restaurant being rebuilt, 7 in the morning is not acceptable for girders to be banged into place, granted this did not go on all day, but this was sold as a quiet and peaceful location! The hotel could be wonderful, but it needs money spending on it with a good maintenance\lifecycle programme, guests should not have to complain about dirty stained mattresses. The seating in the dining rooms is filthy and badly stained. We were unfortunate enough to have to deal with guest services, who initially appeared helpful, but actually turned out to be the total opposite, rude and clearly in need of some customer service training, we felt we were “punished” for raising legitimate issues, not a great experience. I could go on and on, but will not, just to say really disappointed and will not be returning.

A Wonderful Stay at Ramla Bay Resort
We had a wonderful stay at this hotel and were genuinely impressed by the quality of the facilities and the level of service.
The hotel itself is beautiful, and our room was spacious, very clean and extremely comfortable, with a spectacular view.
The swimming pools are truly outstanding. They are filled with salt water, exceptionally clean and, honestly, among the best pools I have ever experienced in a hotel.
The food was also very good, with a wide selection of both international and Italian dishes, many of which were really excellent.
The private beach reserved for hotel guests is another great advantage. It is beautiful, convenient and makes the stay even more enjoyable.
We also really appreciated the SPA, which was very clean and well maintained.
A special thank you to the managers, who handled an unexpected situation quickly and professionally. Their response was greatly appreciated and showed a high level of attention to their guests.
A special thank you also to the waiters at Solaris and Terramar, especially Ramesh, Kristina Kadariya and Sumaut, for their kindness and helpfulness throughout our stay.
Last but certainly not least, a heartfelt thank you to Carlo, the Head Receptionist, for his kindness, helpfulness and genuine warmth. His friendly and welcoming attitude made a real difference to our experience and was truly appreciated.
Overall, we had a truly enjoyable experience and would be very happy to return.

Exceptional Stay at Ramla Bay Resort
Pre-Arrival & Arrival Prior to our stay, the reservation team at Ramla Bay Resort was incredibly helpful. They confirmed several points we raised and provided fantastic recommendations for traveling around and exploring Malta. As first-time visitors to Malta, we weren't entirely sure what to expect. Airport transfers were quick and easy. As the hotel is located at the northern tip of the island, it initially felt a bit isolated; however, we quickly grew to love the sense of space and tranquility compared to the busier parts of the island. Check-in was seamless and took a few minutes. We were granted early check-in for one of our rooms while the other was being finalized. The reception staff were incredibly helpful, offering excellent tips and advice for navigating the hotel and its extensive facilities. The Rooms We booked two rooms. The first was a panoramic sea-view room with breathtaking views of the sunset each evening. The second was a partial sea and garden panoramic room, which was equally amazing and offered beautiful morning sunrises. Both rooms featured a spacious two-room layout. The large living room area included a pull-out double bed, a single armchair, and a dining table with four chairs. Attached to the living room was a spacious, separate bathroom equipped with a shower/bathtub combination, toilet, sink, and well-stocked complimentary toiletries (soaps, shower gel, shampoo, and shower caps). The main bedroom featured a comfortable king-size bed and its own spacious, well-stocked en-suite bathroom. There was plenty of cupboard space alongside the standard room amenities. Tip for future guests: The hotel only stocks the room fridge once for free, and any refills after that are payable. I highly recommend buying still water elsewhere to stay hydrated. We assumed bottled water would be complimentary but quickly found out it wasn't. While the hotel has an on-site shop, you are much better off heading to a nearby Spar or Lidl for better value. Dining Experiences
- Solaris & Teramar (Buffet Restaurants): Both venues serve the same menu, but Teramar is slightly smaller and offers a quieter atmosphere. Breakfast was excellent with an extensive selection: a variety of breads, cold cuts, cheeses, salads, and fresh fruits. The hot section included sausages, bacon, eggs cooked every way and an omelette station. For those with a sweet tooth, there were pastries, bread pudding, apple crumble, pancakes, and waffles with self-serve toppings like honey, maple syrup, Chantilly cream, and Nutella. The tea, coffee, and juice machines ensured you won't go hungry! My only minor critique is that the hot counter was sometimes lukewarm—which, as a baked beans lover, wasn't ideal! Overall, both buffets were very good and offered plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. (Note: We did not eat at the evening buffet).
- Kofi & Kale: This lovely little health bar near the spa offers great choices, including fresh salads. We ordered two fresh juices and a tea. The juices were incredibly flavorful, and the tea was the first truly decent cup we’d had in a while. The use of pasta straws was a nice, eco-friendly touch.
- Piatto Nero: This was the standout restaurant of the hotel and is highly rated in the local area for good reason. The food selection was excellent. We, along with many other guests, opted for the pizzas. The dough was light and crispy on the edges, without being weighed down by too much sauce or toppings. We thoroughly enjoyed the Margherita, Calabrese, and the vegetarian pizza with fried aubergine—all were delicious, and we managed to finish them despite their generous ~12-inch size. On another evening, we tried the pasta ragu and the porchetta; both were rich and flavorful. We finished the meal with a fresh, visually stunning, and delicious tiramisu. It is well worth a visit.
- Mojitos Tapas: Unfortunately, this meal was a major miss and one I would avoid, especially given the price. While the drinks were good and the croquetas were tasty, the rest of the experience fell short. The "sharing platter for two" consisted of a slice of chorizo cut into quarters, two very average chicken wings, some olives, and calamari so chewy we couldn’t bite through it.
The hotel features multiple pools, a private beach area with plenty of space for swimming, a spa/therapy area, and a fully equipped gym. What truly made our stay memorable was the incredible staff. The Brigantine Bar was our absolute favorite place to hang out, thanks to the friendly and welcoming team. A special shout-out to Azel (keep singing, and don't forget the two-and-a-half ice cubes!) and Raihan (Malta truly cried when we left!). Both were incredibly helpful and turned a challenging trip into a wonderful, memorable experience. They are a massive asset to the hotel. Thank you also to Neil and the rest of the bar staff, whose drinks were always spot-on. Finally, thank you (and apologies for any spelling mistakes) to Isham, Carlo and a very special thank you to Lucy (Jambo Lucy, Asante sana!) and Elena, you are all a credit to the hotel and truly do the absolute best for your guests.
