Lovely hotel, let down by rude, inexperienced pool staff with bad attitude
Hotel itself is lovely. Pools great. Our room (588) was one of the Residences with fully equipped kitchen, lounge area, two balconies, very spacious. Toiletries in tiny bottles were impractical but other than that the room was great. Housekeeping staff fantastic.
Gazebo and L'Istorja were great, lovely food and very professional staff especially Sisko. Breakfast was nice enough but didn't live up to rave reviews on here. Staff seemed a bit disorganised at times.
Unfortunately, one member of the pool staff really lets this place down. She is rude and misinformed, and has a bad attitude. Yesterday she tried to charge my husband for use of the Bali beds. Those beds are free of charge for hotel guests. I respectfully challenged this, and she demanded "come with me". Not an appropriate way to talk to a guest who is trying to relax. I'm not sure where she wanted to take me; she never explained and I never heard further. This morning, the same person refused to get me some towels for the pool and told me to go and get them myself from the spa. She was suggesting that the pool doesn't open until 9. Meanwhile there was another guest in the pool, and my hotel documentation indicates the pool opens at 7. She then says she's an intern and I should clarify with a manager. As such, I asked to speak to a manager and she demanded I came to the spa with her. She then was unable to explain why she had brought me to the spa, as the person working there was not a manager. I asked her, and her response was that her English is not good - I know this to be a lie because I'd been speaking to her the day before. She then started giggling. All in all a totally inappropriate way to deal with guests - and trying to charge for items that are included is outrageous. This individual needs a lot more training.
The gym is too hot to be functional - good equipment but needs much better air con. I expect better from the Kempinsky brand, and have experienced better in other Kempinskys.

Nice hotel, but gym is shockingly hot
A nice hotel with friendly staff, if quite young and inexperienced. Hotel is a bit tired, lacking adequate aircon in the gym, making it mostly unusable because it’s so hot.
Overall, this hotel falls considerably short of Kempinski standards.

Luxurious retreat on Gozo
The hotel was a luxurious haven to retreat back to. Lived up to its 5 star status and was a pleasure to stay there for a week. The breakfast location, food quality and attentive service deserves a special mention although everything about the hotel was stand out in a classy yet understated way. Certainly one to return to when the opportunity arises, pure bliss.
Lovely holiday
Lovely hotel. We used the 2 great restaurants twice each . Food was exceptional. Great outdoor area and pools. Would have been good if the poolside bar stayed open a little longer, closed around 5.30pm . There was no entertainment which would have been nice on the nights we ate their. The hotel is close to 2 villages and we ate in restaurants there and in Victoria which is a short taxi ride. Breakfast at the hotel was excellent. The gym and spa facility were excellent. Gozo is a small island and it is easy to walk to the inland sea and take buses/ cabs to other villages and sights. Lovely cake and coffee shop at the end of the hotel drive in the craft village.

Exceptional Holidays
We had an absolutely amazing stay at Kempinski Hotel San Lawrenz, Gozo. From the moment we arrived until the day we checked out, everything exceeded our expectations.
A special thank you to the wonderful front desk team—Annabele, Goerkim, Samuel, and Eleanor. They were incredibly professional, welcoming, and always ready to help with a smile. Their exceptional service made our stay smooth and stress-free, and we didn't face a single issue throughout our visit.
The hotel itself is beautiful. The building, the swimming pools, the peaceful atmosphere, and the well-maintained surroundings were simply stunning. Our room was spotless, comfortable, and beautifully designed, making our stay even more enjoyable.
The breakfast was another highlight. The hosts and waiters were elegant, attentive, and very friendly. The food was delicious, with a great variety, and everything was perfectly organized.
This was truly one of the best hotel experiences we've ever had. Thank you to the entire team for making our stay so memorable. We will definitely be coming back again and again. Highly recommended!
