Had a wonderful few days at this hotel. I wouldn't rate it a 5* but would definitely stay here again. The hospitality were all very polite and welcoming. Our room was cleaned every morning by Lizlin and her artistry with the different towel designs were amazing. The Greek folks I encountered were very polite and welcoming

A beautiful hotel. The smell when you arrive is definately like stepping into a Spa.
The rooms where very spacious, and we had the basic premium room. The maid service -every day was excellent. Rizlyn, our maid was so lovley, making lovely creations with the towels every day. Thankyou! It as peaceful - as the hotel is located just at the end of the main strip - tho still had taverna's and bars and shops very close by. Its an adults only hotel so the noise level was low key with soft music playing during the day. Sunbeds where plentiful - but we did travel mid September so it might be busier in the summer months. Breakfast was much the same each morning but we only ate in twice during our 10 days for dinner. Wasnt really impressed with the dinner options.
We went to Kalamaki for a wedding (which was lovely) but I loved Kalamaki and I'd definately return.
A fabulous holiday.
Positives
Immaculate modern hotel Excellent location Friendly and helpful staff Spacious room ( we upgraded in booking to grand suite) Good powerful shower Excellent air-conditioning Excellent housekeeping 2 large balconies Beautiful pool and plenty of sunloungers Poolside food is really nice
Constructive criticism
Very little wardrobe space, and not 1 drawer for storage! Meals were "just" ok. Food was luke warm and the selection was not impressive. I need to clarify that we are not picky eaters, but we struggled on the 5 nights we dined in so chose to eat out for the remaining 6 nights. To be honest, the food at the poolside snack bar is of a much higher standard than the evening meals which we found extraordinary. As a gesture, it would be nice to have a bottle of water included in the evening meal rather than be charged the measly 1€ we found this extreme, especially on HB
NB* Anything in the room fridge, including water, is to be paid for.....and its not cheap!
The shower is good but the whole bathroom gets soaked. The water leaked out at the bottom of the glass panel, which then ran out of the bathroom.
Sunloungers are plentiful, but people are still putting towels out and reserving at silly o clock. This has to be looked into.
All told a really lovely hotel in a good location and I would return but only on B&B basis. There are so many beautiful restaurants on the doorstep. Our room was perfect but we heard other complaints of small dark cramped rooms facing the pool, so check before booking! The reports of barking dogs on previous reviews was not heard from our room, just the noise from neighbouring evening entertainment, but its a holiday resort so to be expected!
What a fantastic hotel good clean rooms fantastic location beautiful grounds loved this place comfortable friendly staff nice pool very relaxing to be here did not want to leave
Unfortunately, our stay at Hotel Meandros was far from what we expected. In my opinion, this is more like a 3-star hotel, not a 5-star property.
The first and probably most unpleasant thing was the attitude at reception. Many reviews mention that one of the female receptionists is rude, and unfortunately, we had the same experience with the receptionist with brownish-red hair. The way she spoke to us made us feel as if we were asking for a personal favour in her own house, rather than asking for reasonable help from a hotel.
During checkout, we asked if we could keep a small 200 g package of cheese that we had bought from a shop in the hotel fridge for a short time. The response was: “This is the reception.” Yes, exactly — this is the reception of a hotel, where guests should be helped when possible. After I insisted, they eventually found a small space for the cheese. It was a very unnecessary and unpleasant interaction.
The hotel does have an indoor swimming pool, but using it is not included in the stay. Guests have to pay €10 for just 1.5 hours. This was very disappointing, especially for a hotel presenting itself as a 5-star property.
In fact, it seemed that guests had to pay extra for almost everything. Even using the fridge in the room or the safe required an additional payment. These are basic facilities that I would expect to be included in the room price.
The room itself was large, which was a positive, but the bathroom/shower is poorly designed. After taking a shower, water gets everywhere in the bathroom.
The staff working in cleaning and the kitchen are mostly Filipino and generally very nice and friendly, so I want to give them credit for that.
However, the cleaning was not at the standard you would expect from a 5-star hotel. The room was supposedly cleaned every day, but our bedroom floor was dirty throughout the entire 7-day stay, and dust remained on the furniture.
There was also an incident that was particularly disappointing. After cleaning, my pyjamas were left on top of my hairdryer, while my husband’s pyjamas had been dropped onto the dirty wheels of our luggage.
We complained at reception, and they did offer to clean the pyjamas.
The dining room for dinner and breakfast is extremely small. If you are unlucky, you may have to wait outside until the staff call you when a table becomes available. It is difficult to know how long you might have to wait, especially when guests come for dinner, order drinks and take their time enjoying the evening.
The breakfast arrangement is also poorly designed. Omelettes are prepared in the same room where guests sit and eat. As a result, the entire room becomes filled with cooking smells, and afterwards our clothes smelled strongly of food. The air in the breakfast room was also very unpleasant and heavily affected by these smells.
The food was very average. We had two dinners that were actually good, but on the other days the food was disappointing — often tasteless and repetitive. Breakfast and dinner felt very similar from day to day.
The desserts were especially disappointing. They felt like something from the 1980s, extremely sweet, mostly sugar or something resembling whipped cream, and in many cases simply not enjoyable to eat.
Overall, the service attitude, additional charges for basic facilities, cleanliness, dining-room size, unpleasant food smells, food quality and general standard do not match a 5-star hotel.
Hotel Meandros is a 3-star experience than a 5-star one. I do not recommend it at all.
