⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Our Third Year at the Marelen Hotel – And We’ll Be Back!
We have now stayed at the Marelen Hotel for three years running, and it has become a very special place for us and our family! Our first visit was just the two of us as a couple. The second year, we returned with our adult children, their partners and our granddaughter. This year, we came back with the family again, along with their best friends! I think that says it all about how much we love this hotel and the wonderful holidays we’ve enjoyed here.
The location is fantastic. Kalamaki Beach is literally a five minute walk away and is beautifully clean. The main strip is around a 10–15-minute walk, which is perfect for getting a little exercise in before heading out for dinner, and burning off a few calories on the way back!
We always choose bed & breakfast as we love exploring the local restaurants and trying different places to eat. Breakfast at the Marelen is lovely, with a wide variety of choices and something to suit everyone.
The hotel has four swimming pools and a jacuzzi, so there really is something for everyone. There’s a dedicated pool for babies and toddlers, a splash pool for toddlers and older children, a general pool for everyone to enjoy, and an adults-only pool at the rear of the hotel for those wanting a little peace and quiet. All the pool areas are kept lovely and clean, making it a great choice for families and couples alike.
The hotel itself is scrupulously clean, modern and beautifully maintained. The rooms have everything you need, with air conditioning included in the price (no extra charges!) and a safe for your valuables. Rooms are cleaned daily as needed, towels are changed every day, and pool towels are included too. It’s those little things that make a holiday comfortable and hassle-free.
When we heard that the hotel had changed ownership last year, we were a little apprehensive, as we had come to love the Marelen and hoped it would retain the same feel and high standards. There were lots of new faces this year, and it was clear there had been a significant staff changeover, although it was lovely to recognise a few familiar faces too. All the staff we encountered were friendly, and we were delighted to see that the cleanliness, care and overall standards we have come to expect from the Marelen have been maintained.
It really is a lovely, well-kept establishment, where everything is clean, tidy and looked after. We’ve made some wonderful family memories here, and it’s lovely to have a hotel that we all enjoy returning to.
Thank you, Marelen, for another fantastic holiday. We’ll continue to return year after year, and we’re already looking forward to our next visit!

Nice and friendly
Very nice place to stay, clean and friendly. Staff are very friendly and welcoming. Rooms are nice and are cleaned every day, always getting fresh shower and pool towels. Quick 2 minute walk to the beach and about a 10 minute stroll in to the bars and restaurants. The cocktail bar is cute. The pool bar is good. Hotel food and drink is more expensive than Kalamaki strip but to be expected as onsite.
We would return to hotel as overall experience was very good.

Lovely holiday
WOW what a lovely clean hotel. Staff friendly and work so hard. Hotel in a good location for the beach the strip where all the shops and bars are You are near the airport but we loved watching the planes fly in so for us not a problem, and there sre flight time restrictions. Rooms are clean and well equipped. Pools are clean and well looked after. Food was excellent lots of choices , flavours and good quality. The hotel was quite when we went ( end of season) which suits us but still a top service was given by all. My only negative is you need more mocktails 🍹Would I'd go again absolutely 💯 we would. Thanks for a lovely relaxing stay.

Lots of change and not for the better
have stayed at the marelen for the last 23 years and always loved it and reccomended it to friends , we always returned for the friendly staff lovely rooms good food (we only have b&b) and locality of beach and bars, however this year we founf new owners who didnt say a word to you, snack bar staff more interested in theor phones than customers,(although polite enough) breakfast was still good but gone was the fresh orange juice and omlettes (more like squash) the tables not being cleaned like before I witness a few times where people sat down when the cuttlery not bee changed or table cleaned and didnt even know somone else had sat there , maides very friendly and rooms spotless as always . .and last but not least the best barman ever! Niko was there friendly and chatty as always. LIke I said weve stayed here about 20 times would I go back again im not sure this time ....the hotel is stil a lovely hotel but its not the same as previous years and not for the better im sad to say.but we stil had a nice holiday !
An Excellent Family Holiday – Everything Was Perfect!
We stayed at Marelen Hotel with our family in October 2026, and we had a truly wonderful experience.
From the moment we arrived, we were impressed by the outstanding service and the friendliness of the staff. Everyone was welcoming, attentive and always ready to help, making us feel genuinely well looked after throughout our stay.
Our room was lovely, comfortable and very well maintained, and the cleanliness throughout the hotel was excellent. A special mention must go to the buffet, which was simply outstanding. The food was delicious, with a great variety of dishes and something to suit everyone in the family. The quality and presentation exceeded our expectations.
What really makes Marelen Hotel special is the combination of excellent service, comfortable accommodation, exceptional cleanliness and fantastic food, all delivered with a genuine smile.
We thoroughly enjoyed our family holiday and would happily return. We highly recommend Marelen Hotel to anyone looking for a relaxing and memorable stay in Zakynthos.
