This beautiful hotel, built in a traditional Cycladic style, is located just 50 m from the beach of Kamari, a bustling and touristic area full of bars, restaurants and shops suitable to all tastes. It is approximately 9 km from Fira and Athinios harbour is about 11 km from the hotel. The airport can be found less than 4 km away.
Due to the surrounding area and the number of steps around the hotel, it may not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties.
The hotel is very clean and our room was large and comfortable. Most of the staff were pleasant and friendly especially Grace who always greeted us with a friendly smile and was welcoming and helpful. The location of the hotel is perfect for visiting the restaurants and bars along the front of the resort. Sadly our first impression was not good! We arrived late around 2150 in the evening, as it was our first visit we had paid the additional cost to upgrade to half board the man who checked us in was not very pleasant at all and interestingly enough he never wore a name badge! We asked about food as we had two children ages 4 and 6 with us to be told “the kitchen is closed “ as you can imagine this caused us an upset as we didn’t want to walk out in the dark when we hadn’t got our bearings. We tried to speed up check in so we could find a restaurant that was still open and able to feed us but he was more interested in selling us a catamaran trip. The only porter on duty was busy so after waiting around we asked to be given directions to our rooms so we could make our own way there. Once in our rooms my daughter got a call to say they would make us something to eat and Arthur who was most unpleasant brought us a bit of something to eat. This whole experience could have been avoided if they made some sort of provision for late arrivals on half board!
Really nice atmosphere, really nice people and great food. Definitely recommend it
I would have given a 5 star rating if it wasn't for the 'towel wars' every morning! Towels were put on sun loungers at night - time to reserve for the following day, and they were put on in the early hours of the morning! One day all the loungers by the pool near the breakfast room were all gone by 5.30am in the morning. The hotel have got to come up with a strategy, because it just isn't fair. In the Radisson Blu in Gran Canaria they have a fantastic system: You have a towel card given to you at check-in, and you hand it in to the lifeguard in return for a hotel towel(s) No personal towels are permitted on beds. You get a towel card back when you return your towel (s) The lifeguard monitors the beds as well and removes any sunbeds that are vacant. This is a fair system. You get a sunbed when you're ready to sunbathe. You shouldn't have to wake up early on your holiday in order to secure a bed! Such a shame, because it's a cracking hotel otherwise!
We booked to stay here for 1 week in August, the hotel setting was very beautiful and very clean. We had a basic room, which was comfortable. Very good location a minutes walk down to the main strip.
However I would not stay again, we purposely booked this hotel due to the amount of pools thinking we wouldn't struggle for a sunbed. By 7am all the beds were reserved, most sitting with towels on until lunch time. We did speak with a member of staff who said they would remove towels if people didnt appear but this never happened. We had to sunbathe at the beach everyday, which was costly as you have to pay for sunbeds.
However my biggest issue was with the unpleasant behaviour from staff towards a group of young kittens, quite clearly starving we were feeding them behind a bush out of sight away from the rooms along with other tourists, the maids would chase them away and get rid of the food. I understand people may not like cats but they werent causing any harm. Maybe a suggestion if they are not liked, put a donation pot at reception to get them neutered to help with the out of control breeding.
Over all a nice set up but not for us.
Hotel is clean and well situated. The sunbed situation. There is a sign saying belonging left for 30 minutes will be removed. Didn’t see this happening once - managed to get a sunbed on the first day and that was it! All beds are reserved by 7am. In our room we Had two beds pushed together as a double that kept separating - would wake up in the morning and there would be a foot gap. Saw a few maids being unkind to a group of very timid kittens. Maybe if the hotel has an issue with the kittens (which I never saw leaving a corner which was very out of the way so they were not a nuisance) they should put a pot on the front desk so guests can contribute to their neutering. Otherwise the problem will continue - I would have gladly contributed to a worthy cause.
