Atlantica Imperial Resort and Spa

Had a fabulous week at this great hotel. The staff are all cheerful and helpful. We didn’t get her name but the lady working in the Sky bar during the evening was exceptional. She went out of her way to chat to us, even gave my son a free beer if he won our game of cards! Good selection of cocktails available. Food in the restaurant was really tasty and varied. Never felt too crowded or rushed. The hotel is immaculate and clean. Lovely comfy rooms but as a few others have said-I cannot understand why there is no bathroom door. Also there is only slightly frosted glass doors over the toilet and shower and you can see everything, not ideal when you are sharing with your 2 adult children. To make matters worse my son was very unwell with a stomach bug which my daughter and myself had to listen too (as I said-no door on bathroom) and the smell in the whole room was not good either. Not pleasant for us or him. I wouldn’t be happy with this lack of privacy even if I was travelling as a couple.
Excellent position right on the beach where there are water sports available for extra charge. Also close to a good selection of bars and shops. Only other criticism is the standard subbed situation. If you want one by the pool you have to get your towel down by 8 am or they’re all gone despite signs saying not to do this before 9. If you can’t beat them you have to join them or have nowhere to sit. Don’t know what the answer is to this but seems to happen everywhere.

We had an enjoyable 2 weeks at this hotel as a couple staying half board stay. The location is excellent, our room (133) was a 30 second walk to the beach. The beach itself is sand/shingle and the sea is clean and clear. There are water sports (boats, jet skis etc) available and plenty of loungers that are free for guests. The hotel is immaculate as are the rooms. The waiting and cleaning staff are very polite and engaging. The food is varied and plentiful and we never got bored regarding choice. If you can stretch your budget I'd recommend a swim up room as it's a great alternative to the beach or communal pool. The walk to the town centre is about 10 minutes. There are a few bars and restaurants but nothing too rowdy or memorable. I can't think of too many negatives except the price of drinks at the hotel are expensive and not the biggest (I'm not even a drinker and thought the measures were small). I also had a couple of encounters with cockroaches (one in the hotel main lobby, one having a swim in the pool and a few dead ones). I have a phobia about these revolting creatures but unfortunately they seem to be prevalent in hot countries. On our last day we had a long wait for our connecting coach. I waited in reception from just before midday (when we had to leave our room) until the coach arrived at 18.40hrs. The reception is basically a giant greenhouse with no air conditioning. Despite seeing me 'melting' the numerous (9 of them) reception staff where more concerned about arriving guests and chatting to each other than offering me a drink or one of their 'frozen' flannels. It would have been a nice gesture after the fortune I'd spent staying here. All in all it was a good holiday in a beautiful place. If you've booked here I don't think you'll be disappointed but bring plenty of money or go all inclusive. Would I return? Probably not as there are numerous alternatives that are better and cheaper.
