Princess Sun Hotel

One week stay - arrived at hotel 3am Sunday morning after 4 hour flight and 2 hour transfer. Check in was good - sandwiches were made available for us in restaurant if needed. Room was clean and modern with comfy bed, good shower, good ac, and tv. Safe available in room and fridge. Good view over pool and sea. Pools were good although a bit cold due to time of year (23c). Snack bar at pool serving snacks and drinks. Quality of food was not great - lots to choose from but lacked taste and ingredient quality poor. Red and white wine served at lunch and dinner was terrible. In fact quality of drinks in general was poor - local beer and spirits - you can tell the difference. Shuttle to beach every half hour - 5 minute ride. Beach was good with plenty of beds and umbrella. Shingle beach into clear water - water temp was 26c (warmer than pool). Food at snack bar at beach was much better. Bar B Q dinner for 20 euro each was very good - but need to book. Hotel advertises itself as a spa resort - but lacks spa facilities - jacuzzi, sauna and steam room (not working). Very disappointing. Wife had massage with Shayne which was very good - extra charge of corse. Entertainment in the evening was sparse - bar and lobby brightly lit and people resorting to playing cards. Long and steep walk down to main road from hotel to shops and local bus service. Staff were generally good and friendly - April, Michelle & Christine in restaurant and Elton on concierge were especially good. Value for money was ok but would not book again.

We spent two weeks at the Princess Sun and Spa at the beginning of October and had a fantastic holiday. We enjoyed every minute of our stay and genuinely felt that the hotel delivered a five-star experience.

The staff were outstanding. The restaurant team were incredibly efficient, friendly and welcoming, always greeting us with a smile. They were all wonderful, but a special shout-out to Valantino and Jose, who consistently went the extra mile to make our experience even more enjoyable.

The reception team were equally friendly and efficient, always happy to have a chat, answer questions or offer advice on places to visit.

The food was delicious, with an excellent variety. Breakfast, lunch and dinner all featured freshly cooked food prepared in front of you, and there was plenty of choice. We were particularly impressed by the range of milk available, with around ten different varieties to cater for different tastes and intolerances.

The hotel was spotlessly clean throughout. Our room was cleaned and our towels changed every day, and the pools were equally well maintained and lovely to swim in. The gym was well equipped, and the jacuzzi was a wonderful place to relax while enjoying the lovely views.

The animation team were excellent. We particularly enjoyed starting each morning with yoga, stretching or Pilates with Caty and Manon. The evening entertainment was also exceptional — far better than we have experienced at other hotels. From Greek dancing to shows featuring some amazing choreography, there was always something enjoyable to watch.

We also loved the walk down to the beach, although we sometimes took advantage of the convenient minibus. The bay is beautiful and wonderfully calm for swimming, and being able to use the sunbeds and enjoy the excellent beach restaurant made our beach days even more special.

All in all, we had a wonderful, relaxing and memorable holiday. Although the Princess Sun and Spa is a four-star hotel, we felt the experience was every bit five-star! We would happily return and highly recommend it.

Overall we had an excellent time & the hotel was lovely. There were a few negatives but some are beyond the hotel's control & maybe not everyone will agree with me.

Positives - Hotel is beautifully kept & you can tell that a lot of hard work goes into keeping on top of things. Rooms are nice, WiFi is good & I appreciated things such as having a free safe. Staff are generally very good & whilst the food is pretty average, I thought the drinks were decent. The atmosphere was nice, whilst the clientele was generally friendly, civilised & middle-class. Sometimes posh places like this can be boring, but if you just want to relax then it's perfect. The beach bar was lovely & it felt very sophisticated, definitely a nice bonus to have this on offer.

Negatives - It's a long transfer time to the hotel, and there's really not much in Kiotari other than a few generic shops & some hotels. Certain members of the entertainment team never smiled and didn't tell guests what was going on. I watched them walking round the pool before activities, but not interacting with anyone to tell them what was happening. You have to check yourself what's going on as their half-hearted walk around the sunbeds is clearly just a pointless tick-box exercise.

The entertainment at night wasn't great from what we saw, but I can't comment too much. All I can say is that the shop sold packs of Uno by the bucketload as most people preferred to make their own entertainment.

Overall - For all the important issues, this hotel does really well and it was excellent value for money. The negatives are either subject to opinion or not the fault of the hotel. If you want to relax in luxurious surroundings in a nice atmosphere, then this is the perfect place. This isn't suited for people looking for a lively holiday in the middle of the action, but I was very happy with my stay here.
