Olympic Palace Resort Hotel and Convention Center

On arrival first impression is wow!! The drive in and the main entrance is all very nice to the hotel. I had read that most people had said it wasn’t a 5 star hotel and I definitely must agree, our room was more like a 3 star, the bathroom was cleanish but very very dated and the bedroom was very basic, we knew we’d got a Mountain View and that’s what we got. However what made up for this was the friendliest of the staff ( well except for one man that works in the outside pool bar mainly, he is just so miserable and abrupt when ordering a drink ) The area the hotel is in is IXIA and if I’m honest it’s all a little run down, the shops restaurant walking along the sea front ( although the views out across the sea are stunning) it’s all very grubby looking and the road is just so busy, there’s a constant hum of traffic, which when you go to the beach you hear constantly. The subbed on the hotels private beach are very comfortable. The food at the hotel was ok, quite repetitive, but was nice to be able to eat in two of the other restaurants highly recommended the Italian and The Mediterranean one and in the day time have lunch in oregano Greek restaurant the Slovika and gyros are lovely!!! The entertainment programme wasn’t the best, we did water aerobics on our first morning and thought this is great fun, the guy running it was so full of energy and humour and then we never saw anyone again that day. We did play volleyball on two occasions but that was us trying to find them to ask. The evening entertainment again the first night was crazy fun and then it just seem to go hill from there, it would have been nice to have a disco one night. Overall it’s a nice hotel in not a very nice area and felt it was very overpriced. Lastly I’ve only stayed in one other 5 star holiday all inclusive and it was definitely 5 star, no restrictions on anything , mini fridge full of drink , room service free. We arrived to a bottle of water and a sandwich and piece of fruit and then trying to get another bottle of water of the cleaners was like asking them for something you aren’t allowed.

Highlight was touring around the island and going to Rhodes old town, absolutely amazing and visiting Lindos to see the Acropolis. Overall I wouldn’t return.

Had a great week, was a bit of an issue with the room on day 3 was resolved almost instantly, food was Devine but we were all inclusive gold band free gyros for the stay was the best! Prime location 10 min drive from Rhodes old town. Beach literally steps away and your own area designated for hotel guests. Will be back!

Just arrived back from 6 days at Olympic Palace Resort. This hotel is really nice and well maintained. We booked through Tui and when booking advised our wee boy had severe dairy and soya allergies. Tui said it was a really good hotel that could deal with all sorts of allergies and would message them once booked to let them know. On arrival we informed staff again on our information form at reception. Before heading to our room for the night.

The following morning at breakfast my wife was almost in tears as nothing was labelled with what was in each dish luckily we had brought cereal from home for him and he loves fruit so he was happy. I made a point of going back to reception and speaking to a manager who promised me that going forward there would be things for him to have and to ask for the chefs on arrival to the restaurant.

That evening we did just that and met the evening chef Sofoklis, he went round and told us what he could and couldn't have and said if you want i can cook fresh and bring to your table. My wee boy wanted chicken so it was cooked and brought to us. Breakfast was the same but with Kris and every morning made fresh dairy free pancakes and had cereal that he could have. It was such a relief for us that they had made it so easy for us to have food available for him. Our wee boy one evening said the chefs have been so good to me making stuff that i wouldn't react too.

We made sure we thanked both chefs on our final day for all their help.

Now to the things i picked up on whilst staying at the hotel. On arrival we had missed evening meals, Reception did say we could have a lunch instead one day but we were all hungry so went to the roof top bar for food that we paid for. Surely they could have covered two pizzas and a bowl of chips for us. Both myself and my wife felt the hotel would be better suited as a adults only hotel. There is not much for kids to do. They have a mini disco every evening for 20 minutes in a small room near the pool, there is no water games for the kids i believe the ice creams are not included in AI. There is a kids club but never found where it was and believe there is a park aswell but not very well sign posted. The kids pool is a small 4' x 4' glass area next to the bar. The only other things we didn't agree with was we were half board and for breakfast we were served coffee and fresh juice but evening meal you had to pay for even a bottle of water at €4.50!!! They will happily put a bottle of water in the room but charge you at dinner.

The breakfast was the same dishes every morning. Nothing was different. We spoke to a couple who were there a few years back and they said it wasn't the same hardly any choices of dishes both morning and night and water was free with ur evening meal.

Even with the negatives i wouldn't rule this hotel out for the future as we did have a nice relaxing time there and chefs were very understanding with our son allergies.
