Mitsis Alila Resort and Spa

We had a fantastic stay at Mitsis Selection Alila and would definitely love to come back!

We were lucky enough to receive an upgrade to a room with a private pool, which made our holiday extra special. The room was beautiful, always clean, and having our own pool was absolutely amazing.

My partner was pregnant during our stay, so we wanted a relaxing holiday, and Alila was perfect for us. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, the food was excellent with lots of different restaurants to choose from, and the whole hotel had a wonderful atmosphere.

This was a very special trip for us before becoming parents, and we will always have great memories from our stay here. Thank you to all the staff for making our holiday so wonderful. We would definitely recommend Mitsis Alila and hope to return one day!

This is the second time I have been to this resort. I can honestly say I don’t write reviews. But the staff are so lovely all there to make your stay special. A massive thank you to the lady who books the restaurants (whose name I have forgotten !) also Nana & Franco. I think it says a lot when the staff in hospitality are the same year in year out. Great food very clean it was just what we needed. Highly recommend 5*

We had high expectations for Mitsis Selection Alila after seeing the photos and reading the reviews. The hotel has a beautiful location, attractive outdoor areas and many positive qualities, but the overall experience was somewhat different from what we had expected.

The most noticeable aspect for us was the noise level. Music is played almost continuously from morning until evening, and entertainment continue until around 11 pm. What made this particularly challenging was that music frequently came from several different areas at the same time – one type of music by the pool, different music from a bar and additional sound from activities or entertainment. The different sound sources often competed with each other, making it difficult to find a quiet area within the resort. Guests looking for a more relaxing atmosphere should be aware of this.

The rooms were probably very impressive when the hotel first opened, but they now feel somewhat worn and are not particularly practical for families with children. Several design choices look attractive in photos but work less well in everyday use. During our stay, we noticed a number of maintenance issues, including moisture damage on the walls, stains on the floors and ants in our room. In general, the hotelrooms does not seem especially adapted for families who need more storage space and practical room layouts.

One of the reasons we chose this hotel was the expectation of having several à la carte dining options. However, all of the restaurants were already fully booked upon arrival, which meant that dining options were more limited than we had anticipated.

The buffet food itself was, in our opinion, of good quality, with a wide variety of tasty dishes. Our challenge was not the food quality, but rather the buffet concept itself, as we personally prefer quieter dining experiences and more opportunities for à la carte dining.

Some details regarding service and dining did not fully match our expectations for a hotel in this price category. Used coffee cups were often left on the table even when fresh coffee was served, hand sanitizer was not available inside the restaurant area (only one outside), and on several occasions we observed children handling food at the buffet with their hands without staff intervention. The water served at the table was often lukewarm and had a noticeable chlorine taste.

Mitsis Selection Alila will likely appeal to guests looking for a lively all-inclusive resort with plenty of activities, entertainment and an energetic atmosphere throughout the day. Guests seeking a quieter environment, more extensive à la carte dining options and a stronger sense of “quiet luxury” may wish to consider the hotel’s concept and atmosphere carefully before booking.
