Kipriotis Hippocrates

Decent hotel is the best way to describe it. This was our first time on an all inclusive holiday and we enjoyed certain aspects. The food is ok nothing special. I enjoyed the lunch options such as salads and rice. However, we only ate dinner once as it was quite disappointing. Very little meat and just strange options even though I am not a picky eater, I found some of the food quite weird tasting. Slightly stale at times. However the bar was fantastic, great service and entertainment. The beer is lovely. The pool was nice and we never found difficultly getting sunbeds. The area is quiet with not much around but the shuttle bus makes up for that. The rooms are ok, nothing fancy and the beds are quite hard. We also had a bottom floor room which comes with chickens and roosters outside your balcony every morning at 5am. The bathroom was good and the shower was quite powerful for a hotel shower. Overall it is good value for money and is a good way to see Kos on a budget. We probably didn’t use the all inclusive to its full potential as we just prefer to eat better food when abroad. As far as accommodation in Greece goes I thought it was pretty good.

We booked Kipriotis Hippocrates Hotel specifically because we wanted a smaller, quieter 4-star hotel for a relaxing holiday in Kos. Unfortunately, on arrival at the hotel we were informed there was a "technical issue" and were moved to the sister property, Kipriotis Village Resort.

We later discovered through our tour operator that the issue was actually due to overbooking. Whether others consider that a "technical issue" is up to them, I personally see it as greed!

Kipriotis Village Resort is a very different experience. It is a huge complex with more than 700 rooms, whereas we had deliberately chosen a smaller and more relaxed hotel. The change significantly altered the type of holiday we expected to have.

When I explained at reception that we did not want to be moved, I was simply told there was nothing they could do. We were offered wristbands to use the facilities at the hotel we had originally booked, but this did not compensate for the inconvenience, disappointment and disruption caused by being relocated and more importantly, access to some facilities did not provide us with the accommodation and overall hotel experience we had booked.

We are pursuing the matter through our tour operator, but I wanted to warn other travellers. If you are booking Kipriotis Hippocrates Hotel, be aware that your reservation may not guarantee that you will actually stay in the hotel you booked and paid for. We booked one hotel and were given another, which for us, was completely unacceptable.

A good hotel , with atmosphere. Every part of the hotel was spotless .Easy to get into Kos town, the bus stop just outside the hotel . The beach is an easy walk away . The food was excellent. Just remember that Greek food isn’t served piping hot . Lots of variety.
