- Continental Palace

This family-friendly hotel is situated in Psalidi, around 50 m from the closest pebble beach and quite close to the centre of Kos. The hotel area is surrounded by large verandas and beautiful gardens. The bus station, restaurants, shops and bars are within walking distance; the popular nightspots are just a few kilometres away.
Due to the surrounding area and the number of steps around the hotel, it may not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties.
Very good hotel breakfast and evening meal very poor
We had a wonderful two-week stay at Continental Palace. We booked a great-value package holiday from our regional airport (Exeter), and for what we paid, it exceeded our expectations.
I'll start with the negatives, as they're fairly minor. The beds weren't the most comfortable, but that's something we've experienced on pretty much every Greek holiday. The showers could also be a little variable in both water pressure and temperature, which again seems fairly typical in Greece rather than being unique to this hotel.
The positives far outweighed these small issues. The food was genuinely excellent, particularly at the beginning of our stay in late June when the hotel was slightly quieter. We knew we had booked half board, so drinks with the evening meal aren't included, but bottled water is reasonably priced and there are also some lovely wines if you want to treat yourself.
There was an excellent choice at both breakfast and dinner every day. I'm pescatarian and never struggled to find plenty of delicious options. Buffet meals are never going to be quite the same as dining in one of the fantastic local restaurants, but we were consistently impressed with the quality and variety.
The staff really made the holiday special. The reception team, waiting staff and housekeeping were all friendly, welcoming and incredibly hardworking. The grounds were also immaculate and beautiful. Nothing ever seemed too much trouble, and their service added so much to our stay.
We were fortunate enough to have a sea-view balcony, which was a lovely bonus. The beach is directly across the road and is beautiful. It attracts plenty of locals who come to swim every day, which says a lot about the quality of the beach. There's also a lovely beach café where you can hire sunbeds if you fancy spending the day by the sea.
The location was perfect for us. It's far enough from Kos Town to avoid the late-night noise, but close enough to enjoy an easy walk into town and to reach many of the island's boat trips, excursions and other activities.
The entertainment can be quite loud, but it's only on four evenings a week and finishes by around 10 or 11 pm. If entertainment isn't your thing, I'd recommend packing a pair of earplugs.
The pool area was excellent, and we never had any trouble finding sunbeds, even during busier periods. We also had a fantastic massage at the Serenity Spa within the hotel grounds, which we'd definitely recommend.
Overall, this isn't a luxury five-star resort, nor does it pretend to be. What it does offer is outstanding value for money, an excellent location, friendly staff, great food and everything you need for a relaxing holiday in Kos. We left feeling we'd had a fantastic holiday and wouldn't hesitate to recommend Continental Palace to anyone looking for a comfortable, welcoming base from which to explore the island.
We spent a week in this lovely hotel recently. We had stayed before but last year it was awful. However, we looked at the reviews and were delighted to see several changes.
There is a lovely lady, Mariana, now the director of the hotel. There is a new chef. And.....an entire wing of the hotel has been renovated to a very high standard.
We stayed in an executive room with a large wrap around balcony. Room was very tastefully furnished. Lovely walk in rainshower. Aircon that worked.
Food was excellent. Plentiful, varied and hot.
Bar is still being looked after by Annike and we sat out most nights in the courtyard with entertainment.
The gardens of this hotel are gorgeous. Lovely trees and shrubs surrounding the pool are and are very well maintained.
Only drawback was the lack of an indoor spa. Massages and beauty facilities are outside in the garden area.
Despite the stunning heat we had a lovely holiday and will definitely be back.
This is the first time I’ve stayed in this hotel, I thought we would be near Kos town but it’s only 800 metres away and to be honest I’m so pleased we stayed at the continental as it was lovely and quiet, just what we needed! The food we found to be fine and always refilled when needed, maybe a bit more choice, we love Greek food so we were more than happy with what we ate. The hotel is spotless inside and out and the housekeeping was on point. The staff are so friendly and welcoming, from Irene on reception to Vasillis at the pool bar. All members of staff we interacted with were brilliant. The only downside was the rooms need updating but apart from the beds being so squeaky there was nothing wrong, we enjoyed watching the night entertainment from our balcony and loved the sea view. I emailed the hotel before we got there to see if they could put my father close to our room and they emailed straight back to say they would do their best to accommodate us and did, we were one room away. I would definitely go back!
The hotel is located in a fine location , away from the town and has a small public beach and the sea across the road. As you ride up to the hotel , there is a very impressive swimming pool surrounded with grassy areas where you can sunbathe . Our room was spotlessly clean and well looked after for the duration of our holiday - To have a shower we had to stand in the bath and hold the flexible shower head , plus our tv did not have one English speaking programme and there were bunk beds that were slightly in front of the tv screen. Breakfast was good and any fruit, salad or cakes were most enjoyable but unfortunately the main meal in the evening was disappointing the "local" produce was excellent - but the cooked main meal was poor quality. The staff were excellent , especially Rene on the desk who was most knowledgeable about the hotel and the surrounding areas - plus in the dining room Michael was "flat out" working hard all the time.
