DON’T DO IT – unless your happy with ANTS in your belongings

Booked for a week as a family of 4 with 2 young children in a Jacuzzi room and our stay was disrupted by ants every single day. We didnt know we needed to build a case as we would have taken more pictures from the very start. Day 1 ants in bathroom and in room and we were put on the 7th floor out the way with no lift. We changed to the 5th floor of the same block but ants soon took over here as well. I wouldn’t let my family eat or drink in the room to prevent any issues, or so I thought. We had ants flock to my partner’s Listerine mouthwash of all things! They were in the shower, around the sink, in some of our clothes and eventually they got into my 3 month olds Formula! That was the last straw we wanted to leave but the TUI reps dragged their heels in making any hotel change happen. We moved rooms 3 times within a week and only saw peace on the last night with an upgrade for one night only. I viewed 6-8 rooms (started to lose count) only 3 of them were ant free on inspection. 2 of which we stayed in (2nd and last room) the other had a large birds nest outside. Also when we changed rooms they gave us a travel cot that we had seen a cat sleeping in the night before! Hotel washed our affected clothes for free because it was that bad. Hotel staff and reps just told us about their ants in their homes. To be honest the reactions from the hotel staff were mixed when we called to report it, some showed urgency and others were very blasé. I got the vibe they thought we should just live with it but I didn’t pay for that. I also suggested that if they thought it was so acceptable they should put that on their website and make it clear there is an ant infestation. I really wish we just left on the second day when we discovered ants in the new room 7509 which we thought was ant free. It is worth noting we were only shown 2 rooms that were different from ours i.e. family rooms and one of them had ants in. when room changes were discussed I asked for an ant free room and the manager stated she couldn’t guarantee it. I’m in part surprised by the good reviews however the resort is huge and there are clearly some rooms that aren’t infested however we weren’t given that luxury. Some of the ants were so small or on dark surfaces so I would think those with poor eyesight or intoxicated wouldn’t see them. The resort is in the middle of nowhere, the food is ok, the mainly Filipino staff are very friendly, the Greek staff were a bit hit and miss. Water park was nice for the kids and when were able to get to the shows they were good and my eldest really enjoyed the shows and the one day we were able to get to the kids club. I spent my time inspecting alternative rooms, most of which had ants, showing the hotel manager and handyman separately the entry points, moving rooms, washing out our things that had been violated by ants, looking for new hotels and flight (a new holiday) when on holiday. I tried to work with, the whole thing was exhausting, we had late dinners, late breakfast and missed entertainment on most days. It got so bad, I got the night team who had come out to deal with some surprise ants on the dark counter, to put ant powder inside our room, so I could attempt to sleep and not wake up covered in ants. I have been fortunate enough to travel the world and have never had an experience like this even in tropical climates. The manager I dealt with Eva was nice. The resort and Tui should be ashamed. Tui reps got bored and one tried to argue with us despite seeing then ants in my child’s milk and in our belongings.  An abomination of a holiday. Just don’t go, don’t waste your money, energy or time!

Our Holiday & Wedding Review

We are honoured to be the BLVs 1st lesbian wedding 👰🏼👰‍♀

Me and my now wife Emma have just got back from 10 days at the blue lagoon village kos (4th to 14th July 2026) and we got married on the beach there on the 10th July 2026.

This hotel is amazing. If your are in 2 minds. Do it. We had the best time from start to finish and so did our families. Some was with us the whole 10 days some for just a few. But all said we should of booked longer.

The village is absolutely stunning. It is so clean everywhere and there is so much to do. From entertainment with the animation team, chill pools water sports at their private beach and there are so many places to eat you will not go hungry nor does your glass get empty.

The staff. ALL of the staff are just so attentive, friendly and will do all they can to help. Jesus kept my coffee topped up every morning at 7am. He was so friendly.

The animation team are fantastic with the little ones and the adults that are more like children. They work so hard at keeping us entertained and chatting with us. Miguel, Zoe, Shakira, Laronzo, Toto (I see you) and Boris were all amazing.

The rooms are beautifully cleaned as are the grounds and even the cleaning staff are friendly and polite.

Our wedding day was perfectly planned out and all we could ask for and more. The wedding events team Effie & Ms Franziska could not of done more for us. They was with us every step of the way and there are not enough words to express our gratitude for them. Franziska was the very 1st person I had contact with via email direct to the hotel. Trying to find a destination wedding in Greece was difficult when we 1st started planning as it was illegal to marry in Greece as a lesbian couple. However Franziska was gracious to us and said we can be blessed there with no issues. 2 months later the law changed, and she was just as excited as us. She was there for every email, every question. And then when we arrived she meet with us to finalise the details and was even there for our big day. Effie - is utterly amazing. She meet with us several times before the wedding and was there for the whole of the day. Checking on me in my room and my wife in hers whilst we was getting ready. Calming our nervous and wiping away our tears. She even dressed in our colour theme too. We really can not thank them enough for all they did. The make up artist and the hairdresser where also outstanding. 2 brides, 2 mother of the bride and 2 bridesmaids. Absolutely amazing work. This holiday was 10/10 and we will definitely be back.

Thank you to all the staff at the Blue Lagoon Village Kos, now 1 of my most favourite places on the planet. ♥️

Wouldn’t stay again

We recently stayed at Blue Lagoon Village in Kos, and while there were some positives, overall we wouldn’t return.

The room itself was nice, clean, and well maintained. The hotel grounds were also generally very clean, and there are plenty of swimming pools to choose from, so it never felt overcrowded. The beds were a little too firm for my liking, although I appreciate that’s down to personal preference.

Unfortunately, the negatives outweighed the positives for us. The hotel is extremely remote, so if you want to explore the island you’ll need to hire a car or quad, or pay very expensive taxi fares. We ended up hiring both a car and a quad just to avoid feeling stuck at the resort.

There is only one small shop nearby, and the prices are heavily inflated. For example, a can of Red Bull was being sold for €3, despite the original €1.59 price still being visible underneath a sticker. It gave the impression that guests are expected to pay extra at every opportunity after already spending a significant amount on the holiday.

What really disappointed us was the lack of flexibility regarding a late checkout. Our transfer wasn’t until 6:30pm, and with two young boys, one of whom had been unwell the night before after something he ate or drank, we asked if a late checkout was possible. We were quoted €130, with no consideration given to our circumstances. That left a poor impression.

The standout feature of this hotel is without doubt the entertainment team. They are absolutely fantastic, work incredibly hard from morning until night, and genuinely care about ensuring guests have a great time. They were the highlight of our stay and deserve recognition for the effort they put in every single day.

Overall, while the facilities and cleanliness are good, the hotel’s remote location, constant additional costs, and lack of customer care mean we won’t be returning.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ A True 5-Star Family Holiday – Already Planning to Return

Before travelling, I spent weeks reading TripAdvisor reviews and, like many people, I was slightly concerned by comments questioning whether Blue Lagoon Village deserved its 5-star rating.

Having just spent a fantastic week here with our two daughters (aged 6 and 4), If you’re looking for an exceptional all-inclusive family resort with fantastic facilities, great food, friendly staff and excellent value for money, then it absolutely delivered a 5-star experience for us.

We booked a Quiet Swim-Up Sea View Room and it was the highlight of our stay. Having our own swim-up pool meant we could enjoy relaxed mornings before exploring the resort each afternoon, and the peaceful location was perfect for our young family.

The resort itself is beautifully maintained, with staff constantly working to keep everything spotless. The pools are excellent, especially Adventure Land and the children’s splash areas, which our girls absolutely loved.

The food exceeded our expectations. The buffet offered plenty of variety each day with freshly cooked meat, fish, pasta, pizza, salads, desserts and lots of choice for children. Breakfast was particularly impressive, and the speciality restaurants were a great addition that broke up the week nicely. One touch that really elevated the experience was the table service for drinks in the restaurants. Rather than queuing at a bar, the staff came to your table throughout the meal, which made dining feel much more relaxed and added to the premium feel of the all-inclusive experience.

The evening entertainment was another highlight. The mini disco was a huge hit with our daughters, while the live shows and music created a great atmosphere without feeling overwhelming. Throughout the resort, the staff were friendly, welcoming and worked incredibly hard.

When you consider everything that’s included—accommodation, food, drinks, entertainment, children’s facilities and the overall quality of the resort—we genuinely felt this offered outstanding value for money.

The biggest compliment I can give Blue Lagoon Village is that before we’d even flown home, we were already talking about booking again for next year.

Thank you to everyone who made our family holiday so memorable. We can’t wait to return!

TripAdvisor Review
Exceeded our expectations

We stayed for 11 nights from 20th June, travelling as a family of four with a toddler and a five-month-old, staying in a family swim-up (8511).

We booked based on feedback from family who had visited, so had realistic expectations for the price of the holiday (I think this is only recently classified as 5-star by TUI).

The room was very spacious and centrally located, but very quiet. We had full sun from 10 am on the decking, a great angled room for the sun, a large patio, and we found the swim-up pool a good temperature (read my other reviews and for other hotels and you’ll know I don’t like cold pools).

The resort is very big and we were still finding new places on our last few days. We missed the cocktail bar until near the end of the holiday near the Italian.

So where did it exceed our expectations?

  • The resort is very picturesque, with some beautiful views and good photo opportunities.
  • Loads of pools to choose from and all with a different vibe. The pools by the water park worked really well for us as they had a shaded section and another bigger pool a few metres away. The poolside bar there served drinks, ice cream, pizza, and toasties!
  • À la carte’s are good and a welcome change to the buffet.
  • Cleanliness - we found the entire hotel very clean and our room was cleaned to a high standard daily.
  • The staff were great and very attentive - never waited long before being asked for a drink and barely ever had an empty glass and finished plates taken away promptly.
  • We found fellow guests friendly and respectful too, making it a nice atmosphere.

Side note for previous Sensatori guests We’ve visited many Sensatori hotels, Fethiye, Rhodes, Crete, etc.

What we missed in comparison to the Sensatori’s and we felt would add to the resort:

  • Daily replenished mini fridge with cans and water
  • Wider drinks selection, such as Mojito and iced coffees as part of the all inclusive
  • Wider variety in buffet (very similar menu every day but good quality)

I’m summary, despite missing a few things we’re used to holiday, we found this a great hotel and really enjoyed our stay!
