Skala

Surrounded by lush gardens and shaped in a perfect amphitheatric form, this complex allows its guests to wake-up to the marvellous views of the Ionian Sea. Its architecture is reminiscent of that traditional Greek villages, with slightly sloped roofs, brightly painted walls and the typical furnished terraces to which all of the cosy rooms open. The accommodation units are simply decorated, but come with all the necessities required for a relaxed vacation. For dining onsite restaurant can treat to traditional local dishes, chilled beverages and a large selection of desserts. After the delightful meal guests should simply try to reach the two pebbled beaches in front of the venue and spend their afternoon lazing around and working on that perfect tan. Porto Skala Hotel - Village is a spacious complex set in attractive gardens and quiet surroundings. It is perfectly placed in an amphitheatr

Avoid at all costs

We had a very disappointing experience at this hotel. Unfortunately, the room we were given was in a very shabby and neglected condition, which was particularly surprising for a four-star hotel.

The light fixtures were old-fashioned and rusty, while the paintwork was patchy and poorly finished. Several fittings, including the fire detector and doors, were yellowed and visibly aged. There was also a rusty door stopper protruding from the balcony floor, which we felt was a clear health and safety concern.

The TV was partially blocking the air-conditioning unit, making it difficult to operate. Although we had booked a sea-view room, the view immediately in front of the sea was spoiled by a very neglected patch of plants mixed with old rubbish apparently left by previous guests. Unfortunately, this area was not cleaned or cleared during the entire six days of our stay.

We were also disappointed with the breakfast buffet. The fried eggs were dried out, many of the fried items tasted cheap, and the coffee was not particularly good. The coffee machine was also broken on most of the days we were there.

Overall, the hotel appeared poorly maintained. Several plants clearly needed attention, and various areas around the property needed cleaning and clearing.

What made the experience even more disappointing was our reaction when we first arrived. We were genuinely shocked by the condition of the room and immediately asked whether we could be moved to another one. We were told that all the rooms were the same. Later, the Customer Relations Manager, Evelin, told us that room 104 was actually the best room they had. We found this extremely difficult to believe given its condition.

Despite the hotel being aware that we were unhappy with the room, no alternative solution, compensation, or even a goodwill gesture was offered during our stay.

Considering this is a four-star hotel with generally positive reviews, we were very disappointed and honestly cannot understand how our experience could have been so different. We are leaving this review to make other travellers aware of our experience so they can make an informed decision before booking.

Amazing relaxing holiday

Just got home from a 2 week holiday staying at Skala village. The hotel was very welcoming and clean. We just totally relaxed. The pool was fantastic and the space surrounding it was spacious. Never any need to put towels out as there was always plenty of beds. The staff were fantastic and very helpful. Evelyn was always at hand to help and support with anything. she booked all of our trips and was very knowledgable. Rodi on reception was delightful and went above and beyond. Another shout out to stefan the minivan driver always greeted you with a smile.. a couple of times we were visited by the goats which was amazing πŸ˜ƒ. Would definitely go back, totally chilled. Thankyou Tracey and Mark

Could be amazing

Could be amazing but it’s showing its age.

Pool area very quiet so no need to fight over a sun bed but no atmosphere whatsoever. Could really do with servicing small draught beer instead of charging for a small can at 1 euro less than a large draught!

The rooms are old and dated although our shower was recently done but the head board was fall off the wall, towels regularly cleaned but no thought as sometimes we had two towels and one hand towel, mugs not changed creamer for coffee on day one but non after that.

The staff are all amazing and couldn’t fault them. Chris, Frank and Evelyn were fabulous.

The food on other hands was slightly interesting. Breakfast was normally luke warm not much on the fresh fruit f or cereal options. We eat dinner on our first night there and so glad we didn’t book all inclusive, bland and again luke warm

The bay across the road was small and brilliant if you love snorkelling.

If it wasn’t for the staff I would have struggled to enjoy my holiday

An older but lovely small village perfect for a stay for two weeks. A car would be recommended to see the many great beaches wit

We had a very nice stay in the hotel and enjoyed it absolutely. Everybody was so friendly and Evelyn made everything possible. Even a longer stay in the room before leaving was no problem. Would come again.
