Wonderful
We first visited this beautiful hotel a few days ago to enjoy the spa, and we were so impressed by the setting and the welcome that we decided to change our plans and return for our final night in Crete.
We were delighted to find Ms. Despina at reception again. She is exceptionally professional, warm, kind, efficient and always smiling.
It is quite remarkable when a member of a team can actually make travellers change their plans but that is exactly what happened with us!
The Cretan Resort & Spa can be very proud of having such wonderful staff. A heartfelt thank you to Ms. Despina for helping us end our trip on such a beautiful note. We highly recommend this hotel!
Only just a 4 star review but could be a 5
Great location at the quieter end of the resort. Clean rooms and sleep quality brilliant with comfortable bed. Staff friendly and accommodating. Breakfast plenty of choices. The one thing that really disappointed us was that the in room facilities. For us to give this a higher rating there should be coffee and tea products replenished every day and not have to purchase them in the gift shop. This is normal practice that you would expect from this star rating hotel.

Not the best
Firstly the staff are lovely so no complaints there. This hotel as soon as I walked into my room made me think of Butlins 20 years ago…really old fashioned with the cream and brown yuk !! The bed very comfortable even with the pancake flat pillows…the bathroom ! Let’s not even go there having locked myself out several times to the flood when you take a shower, the view from the room nice well as nice as it can be in the current climate with the awful weather we have been having. Pool yet to experience but does look nice. Food well…breakfast was not good either. Maybe I’m just getting to fussy as I get older but I definitely wouldn’t come back to this Hotel. I know some have said how lovely it is but really it’s not that great in MY view :)

Nice resort away from downtown
The resort is pretty decent in terms of its upkeep. Breakfast spread is good and they have certain special theme nites for dinner. A special shout-out to Spiros who was very patient with us and took pains to explain where everything is located.

An OK hotel
I stayed on a bed and breakfast holiday with Jet2 as the provider. This is a review of the hotel and its surroundings not a review of Jet2.
This hotel is about 15 mins outside Chania, it has some positives and some negatives. Let me review the hotel, and then I’ll review other things that may be relevant.
I stayed here in October and this is my personal opinion.
The positives, the hotel is clean, well maintained and the employees are extremely helpful, a happy place. The hotel shop is well stocked with drinks, and you can buy bus tickets here (more on that later). The pool bar is well stocked as well. The WiFi is good (I had to reboot the rooms router to make it so). You can pay by CC for anything.
The middle ground, the breakfast buffet is nothing special, no fresh juices just sugary concentrates, the bacon seems to have been boiled not fried. A basic cheap breakfast buffet. This seems now normal for package holidays. I long for table service at breakfast but this seems to have vanished.
The food in the restaurant was average.
The poor. The water temperature in the mornings. The shower was very tepid. No excuse for not having piping hot water 24/7. The WiFi didn’t work when I first arrived, I had to reboot the router in my room (a white flying saucer of a thing behind the telly), the hotel didn’t help.
The location. Everything is in Chania. There is nothing near the hotel other than a few basic supermarkets. The way to get to Chania is either by bus or taxi. By bus it’s a 15 minute ride and there is a bus stop right outside the hotel. However busses are often full (they won’t stop) or crammed, standing room only. And there seems no identification of what is a bus! You just stick your hand out and if it stops it’s a bus not a tourist coach. The internet tells you there are various bus routes with numbers and timetables, this is not the case, there are no numbered bus routes. The bus Wild West.
A taxi will cost you 15€.
