A True Oasis in the Heart of Rethymno – One of the Best Hotels We’ve Stayed In
We have just returned from an incredible week at Minos Ambassador Suites & Spa, and we honestly couldn’t recommend it more. From the moment we arrived, everything exceeded our expectations.
Mother and son trip away for some shared time. We stayed in a Deluxe Junior Suite, which was absolutely beautiful. It was spacious, spotlessly clean, luxurious, and had every amenity we could have wanted. The beds were incredibly comfortable, and we loved waking up to the lovely view each morning. The thoughtful welcome touches, including a Nespresso machine, complimentary sparkling wine, and fresh fruit, made us feel special from the very start even from arrival at 3am.
The Sky Deck pool is simply stunning. It feels like a peaceful oasis in the middle of town, with plenty of comfortable loungers and a wonderfully relaxing atmosphere. We spent many afternoons there between exploring Rethymno and enjoyed every minute. There was never a rush for loungers at any time of day and it is such a relaxed space.
What really makes this hotel stand out, though, is the staff. Every single member of the team was warm, welcoming, and genuinely friendly—the friendliest hotel staff we’ve ever met. Nothing was ever too much trouble, whether it was arranging a late check-out, organising taxis, or helping us decide on trips and activities. A special thank you to Anastasia, who was fantastic throughout our stay, and to the wonderful spa team for making us feel so well looked after.
The spa itself is just as beautiful as the rest of the hotel—peaceful, cool, and incredibly relaxing. I had one of the best massages and facials I’ve experienced, and it was the perfect way to unwind after days of exploring. The spa staff spend time discussing treatments and offer trial massages to help with decisions.
The restaurant and bar were excellent, with high-quality food and attentive service. Breakfast was a real highlight, served over a generous three-hour window, making mornings feel wonderfully relaxed. We also loved dining on the rooftop terrace, where the sunset views were absolutely gorgeous—the perfect setting for dinner or evening drinks.
The hotel has a well-equipped gym, and it’s easy to hire bikes or e-scooters nearby if you want to explore. Taxis are readily available, and the staff are always happy to arrange one for you.
The location couldn’t have been better. The beach is literally a two-minute stroll away, with soft golden sand, crystal-clear water, and excellent watersports. Rethymno’s charming Old Town and Venetian Harbour are around a 15-minute walk, making it easy to explore in the evenings.
During our week we enjoyed a fantastic mix of relaxation and adventure. We spent plenty of time by the pool, enjoyed several beach days with jet skiing, took an unforgettable speedboat and snorkelling trip, explored Crete on a quad safari, treated ourselves to spa treatments, and wandered the beautiful Old Town and harbour on several evenings. We also visited the Venetian Fortress, which was fascinating, and enjoyed some wonderful meals, especially at Lissus and the restaurants around the old port.
By the end of the week, we genuinely felt refreshed and relaxed. Minos Ambassador Suites & Spa manages to combine a central location with immaculate facilities, luxurious accommodation, outstanding service, and a peaceful atmosphere. It’s the perfect base whether you want to relax, explore, or do a bit of both.
We wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone visiting
Georgia introduced me to the most luxurious Spa ever and on arrival I was greeted by Aggelici who provided me the effective, thorough back massage. The ambience within the surroundings was second to non, I left feeling completely relaxed and rejuvenated! My experience today was superb and easily deserves a 5/5 rating. Please don't miss out on this superb opportunity. I guarantee, you will not be disappointed! Fantastic Spa Team ever & wonderful staff throughout the entire child free hotel!!
This is a lovely hotel, main areas kept clean and maintained. Fresh lemon juice and cold face cloth on arrival. Room: Nice big bed, luckily had a room with a sort of sea view if you leant over the side of balcony. Prosecco in room with dried fruits. Seperate shower and toilet. It had a daily clean but not thoroughly, the underside of our white slippers were black after only a few days and we only wore our slippers in the room, so I think the mop heads might need a change or water needs changing more often. Fresh bottled water left daily, Raiki left as a souvenir on our last day. Staff: Are very attentive, I'd like to give Argyro a special mention, she was great at her job. Staff removed plates straight away from tables, always helpful and attentive with every aspect. Food: we went HB so breakfast & evening meal or you had the option to swap to have lunch instead, but had to let them know. I unfortunately was not that impressed with the food hence the 4/5 rating, for me, the food let the hotel down. Breakfast was luke warm as the lids to warmers were always left open. Although a lot of choice on offer for evening buffet I ended up eating salad and fruit mainly as the options just weren't to my taste. There is an option of a' la carte which rotated after 7 days, after 2 weeks it got quite "samey" so we opted to swap our meal to lunch time and went out to eat, lunches were nicer as they were cooked fresh to order, so came out hot. Pool/ pool arwa: Well maintained (apart from the steps which are loose) area cleaned daily, water checked daily. Out only real bugbear was that Minos (sister hotel) could come and use the beds/ pool at the ambassador, most mornings beds were already taken by them and towels left out all day on the beds even when they left for hours on end, main hotel guests were unable to find a bed. Staff clearly unwilling to take towels or belongings away so main guests could use them. We unfortunately ended up having to get up earlyy just to ensure we could secure 2 beds ourselves. "You'll see them, they have the yellow towels" Minos ambassador ones are orange. It does get frustrating, as guests pay more for this hotel yet the sister "cheaper hotel can use all facilities" Inside pool: Freezing. Gym: Small Holistic therapists: One in particular was very annoying, came to poolside 3 times on one day to try to get people sign up for massages, of which you had to pay for there and then, which I think is also wrong, surely a deposit would suffice.
Just had a lovely holiday at Minos Ambassador in Rethynmo. Great location, great hotel, lovely spacious and clean rooms, superb food and wonderful staff. Highly recommend.
We had an amazing one-week stay at Minos Ambassadors. From the moment we arrived until the day we left, the staff provided impeccable service and made us feel genuinely welcome. Everyone was friendly, attentive, and always willing to help.
The hotel was spotless throughout our stay, with beautifully maintained rooms and common areas. The food was absolutely delicious, with a great variety and excellent quality at every meal.
We truly enjoyed every moment of our stay and would highly recommend Minos Ambassadors to anyone looking for a relaxing and memorable holiday. We would be delighted to return in the future!
