Nikos in Hub17 was such a nice person as soon as we came in he greeted us and we were already feeling like we were family. He helped us when we were confused on the games and he has so much energy it keeps the room alive. He said goodbye and his smile will be one to remember. On arrival, we were welcomed with drinks, which was a lovely start to our holiday. However, our room was situated next to the children’s area despite not having any children with us. My partner had also booked the anniversary package, which included Prosecco, a chocolate cake and a thoughtful congratulatory letter. This was a lovely gesture and much appreciated.

Unfortunately, the food was one of our biggest disappointments. The main buffet was repetitive, often cold and lacked flavour and variety. We also visited all the themed restaurants, but the food was frequently cold, and the three-course meals were served so quickly that we sometimes finished within 25 minutes. This made the dining experience feel rushed rather than relaxing. Drinks were also slow to arrive, and we often had to ask more than once for refills.

The steakhouse was particularly underwhelming. Although the steak itself was lovely, the starter was mediocre and the sides were disappointing. The crème brûlée was a highlight, however. On a more positive note, the Italian restaurant was our favourite, with delicious stone-baked pizzas served hot. The gyros from the BBQ corner and the crêpe station were also excellent additions.

Service throughout the stay was consistently disappointing. Waiting over 20 minutes at the main bar, only to be turned away when we approaching the bar ourselves, was frustrating. Some staff also appeared unapproachable and lacked enthusiasm, which affected the overall experience.

A couple of days into our stay, we experienced four power cuts within approximately an hour and a half. We understand that this was not necessarily the hotel’s fault, but it was another unexpected inconvenience.

Despite these issues, the hotel itself was beautiful, and the rooms and facilities were impressive. However, the location is worth considering, as there is little within walking distance and taxis can be expensive if you want to explore the surrounding area.

If you are visiting Hersonissos, we would highly recommend Med Cafe. The views are stunning, the food is excellent, and the steak was particularly good.

Overall, although we enjoyed aspects of our holiday, the food quality, lack of variety, rushed dining experience and consistently poor service meant the hotel fell short of our expectations. Improvements in these areas are essential. Unfortunately, despite the hotel’s beauty and some positive experiences, we would not choose to stay here again. We do not believe it is a five-star hotel.
