Sirios Village

Sirios Village is a really great hotel. It's very clean, the staff are lovely, the hotel grounds are beautiful, and the buffet is good and varied. A huge bonus is the freshly made gyros and pizza at the snack bar.

Overall, there's really nothing missing. The only thing to be aware of is that it's very much a family hotel, with lots of children. We traveled as a couple in our late 20s without kids, and it didn't bother.

The only minor downside is that the two main pools could occasionally get quite crowded, especially with children (both over and under the age of 12) and their inflatable water toy. Again, it wasn't an issue for us, but it's worth keeping in mind if you're traveling without children.

I'm not sure we'd return to this hotel ourselves, but if we ever have children and travel to Crete, I'm certain this would be the hotel we'd choose.

We spent 10 days here as a family of 4. As soon as we arrived the, we were welcomed by Kiki at the reception desk. She was lovely and very helpful. We asked about any upgrades, as we booked a family suite in the older part of the hotel and were pleasantly surprised with an option to upgrade to a room with a private pool at a discounted price for most of our stay.

We spent the first few days in the original room we booked - it was spacious (living room and a bedroom + a small hallway made of cupboards - very handy), a spacious bathroom and a balcony. Each room was very clean and had air conditioning which worked very well. We enjoyed our first few days, but LOVED the rest of stay when we moved to the room with a private pool. It was luxurious, also very clean, extra bathroom, but the winner was obviously the outdoor space with the private pool and multiple tables, huge double sun bed, umbrella etc. It made our stay just that much more relaxing, because whenever we fancied a break from the main pool, sightseeing etc, we could just retrieve to our private paradise. The pool never felt crowded, somehow you could always find somewhere to sit, too.

The food was very tasty. We missed out on gyros at the snack bar - we didn't realise you could order it! Make sure you ask for it - it looked delicious. Also cretan vegetables - so flavoursome. It was a delight to try traditional dishes, but there was something for everyone and each night was themed. I will add the puddings were lovely. There was a variety of drinks too, including some alcoholic beverages. 3 cocktails to choose from every day (they change daily), which might be great if you are a big fan of cocktails (for all inclusive).

We didn't take parts in the mini disco and music games in the evenings but enjoyed the entertainment put on some of the nights - especially the Magic Circus and Cretan dancing. There was a kids club, too - again, no experience there.

It was easy to walk to the local beaches with lovely sand, some rocks here and there, delightful water and lovely bars and restaurants. Travelling to Chania was also easy - either by bus or taxi. We discovered that on a beach not far from us there was going to be a public excavation of a turtle nest - it was the most amazing experience. We got to watch some baby turtles racing to the sea!

Some of the days it was too windy to go on the Agios Apostoli beach, but then we went on the Iguana beach which is sheltered enough to be safely swimmable (lifeguards present).

All in all - we had a wonderful stay and would change nothing (apart from the gyros missing out). Thank you to all the staff and we hope to be back sone day.

Very nice service and a super nice facility. Had a wonderful week here. Highly recommend! I think it is even better for familys and kids!
