- Mitsis Messonghi Beach

The family-friendly hotel enjoys an ideal situation frontline to the pebbly beach of Messonghi on the eastern coast of Corfu Island, between the unspoilt greenery and lush mountains on one side and the eternal blue of the Ionian Sea on the other side. It is located between the villages of Messonghi and Moraitika. Corfu Town is about 22km away and can get reached within 45minutes by public bus.
The hotel offers classically decorated rooms, amenities include wireless internet access and a furnished balcony or terrace with unobstructed views of the landscaped garden or the sea. Children will love the various children's pools, the playground, the playland, the mini-club as well as other activities. There are 2 outdoor pools (2 adult pools and 1 mini aquapark), a wide range of sports facilities, a spa, restaurants and bars. A great hotel for couples and families with children
Due to the surrounding area and the number of steps around the hotel, it may not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties.

I have returned home from an 11 night stay. Overall we had a lovely stay, however I wouldn't say this is 4 star in comparison to other 4 star resorts around Greece.
Food - there are lots of choices which are flavourful and appealing however in the buffet restaurants flies are a major issue and very off putting. In the UK a restaurant definitely wouldn't achieve quality food hygiene ratings with the sheer amount of flies that the buffet has here. There doesn't appear to be any preventative measures in place to stop these either. They are resting on the food, chairs, tables, cutlery and plates.
Pools - it's nice to have a selection of pools to choose from, from quiet to more noisy/active with entertainment. However, the pools don't look very appealing. The water is cloudy/grubby looking with bits floating all of the time and tiles coming loose in places. I may have easily missed this but never saw anyone doing water checks during the day. The 'main pool" where the activities/entertainment I don't believe should be where the water slides are, a small section is separated however it is definitely not big enough for what it is used for. I feel the water slides pool should be for that use only and it would definitely benefit from a separate larger pool for the entertainment/activities. At the children's splash pool Infront of the beach there is definitely a lack of shaded areas, especially as this pool is aimed at younger children. More umbrellas are definitely needed.
Bars/drinks- queuing during the day at bars can be up to 20 minutes. Understaffed, most of the time it is only 1 staff member working their way through long queues. Cocktails - made fresh however it seems like cocktail roulette. You are lucky if you are served the same tasting cocktail twice. Even my 5 year old has noticed a strawberry slice (non alcoholic cocktail) or the pineapple juice never tastes the same. Sometimes the non alcoholic cocktail is served more orange, sometimes more red and sometimes even fizzy/carbonated. The intentions are all there with the cocktails but the delivery of them is too inconsistent.
The lack of fresh cold water stations is very inconsistent. Either they aren't replenished and the large bottles on top of the stations are empty for long periods or there aren't clean cups available to access this so you have to wait for the opportunity amongst the lengthy queues to ask for cups. When accessing the water filling stations at the beach bars it is unpleasant, as it is warm therefore needing to queue for ice cubes adds to the already lengthy queues.
Rooms - the rooms are clean and adequate, good Aircon and facilities. If in a ground floor room be prepared for lots of ants. Both rooms in our party experienced lots of ants.
Beach - the beach is lovely. We only accessed sunbeds at the beach. But we needed to be down before 8am to access these which wasn't an issue for us personally.
Entertainment - the entertainment and facilities for children is very good. The park, quads, arcade, mini disco and even entertainment is up to a good standard. There are three shops on site which are useful.
General tidiness of the areas around the site aren't appealing. I am aware that it is the guests responsibility to return empty cups to bars or put them in the designated bins however it is very clear that this doesn't happen. Therefore I feel staff need to be aware and areas need cleaning/replenishing with clean cups regularly. Tables are often filled with dirty cups and not wiped down and the designated bins for reusable empty cups are overflowing.
Overall for a 4 star I wouldn't return, however I feel some simple improvements would improve this hotel.
Please be aware this hotel resembles more of a holiday park.
Lovely venue but unfortunately it was far too busy for me to relax. I booked summer school holidays and the resort was packed. What I do rate is guest relations, particularly Haithem. What an amazing member of staff and I cannot recommend him enough. So professional, helpful and really tried to keep my spirits up whem struggling with overwhelming anxiety out there due to the number of people at the same resort. What a guy.
Would return to this resort (quiet season only) just to try get a calmer holiday and to see Haithem again. He is wonderful.
Guy in the gym was so rude and inappropriate. Told me I was dressed in appropriate because I was wearing shorts and a sports bra in 34 degree heat as a teenage girl. Then on the next occasion shouted at me from across the gym when he wasn’t even working anymore for putting a little water in my water bottle saying I was filling it up when I wasn’t I just didn’t want to keep refilling paper cups. Absolutely disgusting man and hope he gets fired honestly.
Well where to start! Paid quite a lot to go here (cancelled Turkey earlier in the year and changed to here…….a decision in hindsight we may regret…..!)
Cons: -
Rooms, we had a room on the ground floor facing the splash pool and near the beach - fab location. Unpacked and went to leave, the door wouldn’t lock. Absolutely broken and the area surrounding the lock was all bent and looked to have been like that for some time. Went to inform reception and were given two options stay and someone would fix next day or try a different room (the word ‘try’ being important here) so I got the keys for another room around the corner, and lo and behold guess what - the door wouldn’t lock! Thankfully I went alone and left family in our original room to save packing etc. Went back to reception and told them this wouldn’t lock either to be told yes it is a common problem with the doors!!! Now who in their right mind would like to stay in a room that doesn’t lock???!!!!! This needs sorting before the rooms get allocated. Went to view another room; it was awful the terrace backed onto a road. So we decided to stay put and lock all our valuables we could fit into the safe and try to enjoy the rest of day 1. Went out, came back, little one went to use bathroom and slipped - the aircon unit had leaked water everywhere. So off I go to reception to be told this would be sorted the next day when the lock was fixed. So towels down to try to control the puddle of water now getting worse and soaking our things! Went for tea and a drink and I could not relax, the stress of two rooms not locking the aircon leaking was not how I wanted to spend my first night. I explained this to reception again and magically they had one more room I could view, so went to view it at 9pm at night and the door locked - yay! And the layout was slightly better in that it had two single beds and not rickety old bunk beds my 10 year old would likely fall out! I said I’d have it so 9:30pm in the dark we pack up and move across the hotel with our cases! I slept like a log I must say that night. Bedding and linen, mattresses years old and need updating as with the room decor and bathroom.
Drinks were ok, drinkable but cheap acidic juice cocktails. Beer was tolerable my partner said.
Snack bars - these were great and food nice, be prepared for big queues in peak times!
Buffet - repetitive and not much choice for kids.
Location - the big win for us! We ventured out mid-to end of our stay and these were our best nights. Although paying for meals out and drinks out added to our overall cost of the holiday it was money well spent. The bars, shops and tavernas within walking distance/across the river on the boat were what made it for us.
As someone else mentioned, the admins of the FB group for this hotel reserved the same sunbeds for the duration of their stay so even they must be of the opinion if you can’t beat them join them in the reserving sunbeds rule breaking! But tbh we had to too as if you didn’t, you simply wouldn’t get one! Also, don’t post negatively in that FB group, you get jumped on by the admins - you can’t have an opinion if it doesn’t align with how they perceive the hotel……!!!! Basically no negative reviews allowed.
Overall our stay was ok once the room issue sorted, entertainment is good, pools ok; slides a good addition but did get boring, location - FAB!!! Not worth the money. Trips book with Soula, she is an asset to the area (just outside hotel on the right) - we booked 3 trips and they were all fantastic.
We wouldn’t stay again but we made great memories as a family. Somewhere else in Greece next year for sure 🇬🇷
Big the King to guest relations Team Kamal Haitham and Eya. They are very helpful and Kind. We enjoyed Our statt.
