- Kontokali Bay Resort and Spa

Overlooking the Ionian Sea and Gouvia Bay from its slightly elevated position, the elegant Kontokali Bay Resort & Spa is set on a densely wooded peninsula close to Corfu Town. It is surrounded by beautiful gardens with pine and cypress trees; first-class features include a private sandy beach and a seawater infinity pool. The scenic fish taverns and bars as well as the shops of the popular holiday resort of Gouvia are within walking distance. Corfu Town with its archaeological sites is only 6 km away and can be reached within a short drive. A wonderful place for a beach holiday.
Due to the surrounding area and the number of steps around the hotel, it may not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties.
Very nice hotel but lacks a few things that make it 5 star. We really enjoyed our stay here with the highlight being the beach area. The sun loungers are right on the beach and the water is just so good! The staff were all very nice and the food was excellent. Some feedback would be that the facade needs updated a little. The Spa area is a bit tired looking. The rooms were nice generally, but we had to ask for water most days which is meant to be given as standard. The entertainment in the evenings was mediocre also, so we tried to venture out as often as possible. There are a few restaurants nearby but nothing special. There are also 2 local bars (about 10/15 min walk) and we had a drink in one at one point but it wasn’t great. For the money this is a very good hotel and if you are the type of traveller that just stays in the hotel most of the time then you won’t be disappointed.
Stayed 7 nights, couple, garden-view room, half board.
Room was underwhelming for the price - bathroom was tight and small, with limescale on the bath. Not the luxury feel we expected.
The whole resort has a "grabby" vibe - there's even a flashy jewellery store slap in the middle of the hotel. It felt like they were more interested in selling to us than letting us relax.
Evening entertainment was a low point - an average saxophone player followed by a band that was way too loud, killing any chance of a relaxing evening. We ended up leaving the hotel most nights for Harry's Taverna and a nearby pool bar instead, both far better for atmosphere.
Breakfast and food generally was good, but asking staff for coffee in the morning felt like a chore for them rather than a normal part of the job - not very welcoming.
Checkout summed up the whole stay - we got handed our final bill and that was it. We've had far warmer send-offs at 4-star hotels in Greece, with staff asking about the trip and offering help with bags. Here, once you've stopped spending, the service disappears.
One genuine highlight of the trip was Greek Speedboat Rentals - incredibly kind, reasonably priced, and honestly the best day of our whole holiday. We rented a boat for 3 hours and couldn't have asked for a better experience.
Overall, very nice location, but the experience felt transactional throughout. Wouldn't rush back.
Another wonderful stay at Kontakali Hotel and Spa. This is our third stay and as usual we got a very warm welcome. We love how re are welcomed back like old friends, it's truly wonderful. And nothing us too much trouble!! The hotel provides a relaxed environment - good selection of bar and eating options. I used the spa facilities for the first time this stay and realised I should have used it on previous stays. The spa staff are all super friendly and helpful and are very caring. I had three treatments with Yasmine who really looked after me and was very knowledgeable, which added to the experience. We are now looking forward to our return next year - see you all again In June 2027!!! 👍
Great hotel, great facilities. Nice beach with sand lots of families with kids so if you’re looking for a romantic place, not sure this is the place overallwe had a great time.. wish they had more shuttles to old town then just one a day we spent €100 one day going back-and-forth
This our sixth holiday at the Kontokali Bay Resort and Spa. We are genuinely welcomed as friends by the staff, many of which have worked there many years. A really nice touch was the bottle of Prosecco on ice with a plate of petit fours in our room on arrival - thank you).
The hotel and grounds are spotless and superbly looked after. We love the balance between the greenery and the sea, it is a very relaxing place to be. The hotel's private beach is excellent, well managed (special mention to Leonidas) and very safe for all ages. You can order food and drinks from your sun lounger via the app or by simply pressing the button on your umbrella).
The Horizon Restaurant is buffet style with a superb selection of food. The quality and care of presentation is first class.
The Asterias Fine Dining restaurant is on another level. The staff are simply brilliant; you will be very well looked after! The food is absolutely outstanding. We simply love the position overlooking the sea to the Albanian coast and eastwards to Corfu town and port. The sunset is magical.
We really enjoyed the wine tasting evening (I learned a lot!) It was run by a young man, Paracleas. Such knowledge and an inspiration.
If you want to relax further then the Spa is a real treat. Very professionally run and well worth experiencing.
Overall, our holiday was faultless from the time we arrived to the time we left. It's always a pleasure to see Kostas, Lambros and Lukas. Genuine friends. Already looking forward to our next visit.
I've thought about it for a few days, but I think the most outstanding quality of the hotel and resort is in the fact that they are always looking at how to improve. This mainly comes down to good management and the professionalism of the staff, both of which have my highest admiration.
