well what can i say about the kef third time here june25 june26 and july 26 let me just say if your looking for 5 star service then this place is not for you. what i can say is the staff and family that own it are the most wonderful people the apartments are cleaned on a regular basis there is bar snacks from the bar shops and plenty of tavernas on the main road .there are plenty of sunbeds to go around so you don,t have to fight for one .
At first everything looked good until we were shown to our room. We specified a ground floor room due to limited mobility but was offered one up two flights of stairs which was unsuitable but was offered a ground floor room the next day. Te room was clean and well appointed apart from the aircon being hit and miss. The bad sheets were two different shades of white (possible due to continued age/ washing. The towels in the bathroom were well beyond their sell by date. A hairdryer did not work. The door key which doubled up as a power supply meant that if you wanted to charge a phone /Laptop while out of your room you could not do so. More than enough storage available. The hot water for washing and showering seem to take forever to run hot. The swimming pool was fantastic with more than enough sunbeds to go round but do take your own towels. The resturant was great. If on B&B you cant go wrong. Just tell the staff what you would like it will be made. The lady who seemed to be there at all times was brilliant (Darling). Breakfast was 8-30 to 10.30 so if you require anything earlier then you are out of luck but as I say the food is cooked to order and tasty. The bar is open for drinks all day up till about midnight and reasonably priced. The hotel is situated about 100metres away with shops/supermarket the same. Bus trips anywhere cost only 2euros are very regular. This hotel is a very good base to start from if you wish to discover Cyprus.
Honest review, rather than a biased regular visitor one. Good points are the place is nice and clean with a good location and the hotel is well priced from a booking perspective. Pool is a good size and warm, bed is also comfortable. I was torn between giving rating of 2 or 3 but went with 3 as still enjoyed the holiday. Bad points , I will start with the room , toaster wouldn't work properly had to hold the lever down, cooking facilities are poor , one of the rings went swollen when it eventually got hot enough. Very dated , still had an old 80's style alarm clock hard wired into the wall, no plug sockets near the bed either. With it being a self catering holiday you would think you could have you own juice or snacks by the pool , but no, we got asked to move for having a little snack from McDonald's, felt like they wanted to get every bit of money they could from an overpriced bar, 2 euro 50 for blackcurrant squash with tap water , pints are far cheaper elsewhere, coffee came in a sachet that should be complimentary in your room. The thing that really annoyed me was after spending loads with them , on our checkout day I asked for towels so we could use the shower by the pool area where the toilets are even though they still hadn't changed the bulb in one of the shower rooms, they wanted 2 euro per towel , yes its not a lot of money but its the principal of it , just trying to squeeze every penny they can.
Almost finished a week stay and all is good. The apartments are great value for money and my studio room is spacious and very clean. Rooms cleaned daily expect Sun/Wed and linen changed every 3 days. It has kettle, microwave, cooker, fridge, a drinking tap water and all utensils needed if you want to cook and eat. Room 323 has no special view and a tiny balcony, but enough for me as a solo traveller. Staff are friendly, kind and helpful and the pool is clean and a great way to spend some time after a day of exploring. Bus station a couple of minutes walk away, and only a 35minute walk to the harbour, 10minutes walk to the tomb of the kings, and easy to get to Paphos old town too so the rooms are in a perfect location. I have a late flight and late checkout is available which is another good feature (although a bit too pricy as a solo traveller) I’ll hopefully access the shower rooms and enjoy every last minute of my holiday. I would recommend the Kefalonitis Hotel apartments for a relaxing, chilled out break. Thank you!
We stayed in block G room 712, the apartment was basic, but clean and had everything you need. The air con is free and was needed. The view from the balcony was of gardens. The pool and pool area was clean and well maintained, plenty of sunbeds. The pool bar serves a selection of snacks and breakfasts until 3:30 and remains open until 12:30. The apartments are located a 30 second walk from the Tomb of the Kings Road. 2 mintues from the bus station and a 10 minute stroll to the Kings Avenue mall
