Due to the surrounding area and the number of steps around the hotel, it may not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties.
Another marvellous holiday at the Thalassa. Three weeks again. As we walked into reception we were warmly welcomed by the doormen and reception staff. A quick and easy check in and we were off to the room to unpack.
The standard room is a spacious bedroom with sliding glass doors to a balcony. The hotel runs along a promontory between Coral Bay (Sunrise) and Corallia Bay (sunset) We prefer sunset! There's a short corridor from the main room to the door with built in wardrobes and kettle shelf on one side. A medium bottle of drinking water is left every day. There's a modern flat screen smart TV with HDMIs. A dressing table (with hair dryer and wall mirror) The bathroom has a reasonably large bath (huge in our room!) with shower, WC, Bidet and sink. All the fittings are Grohe. Many of the three pin sockets in the main room have got twin USB sockets for charging leads. There's also a glass table and a pair of chairs. On the balcony there are chairs and a table.
Dining The Ambrosia restaurant is the main dining room. Breakfast, lunch and dinner is served in here. Dinner each evening is a different theme such as Cypriot, barbecue etc. The food is very high quality and the service is exceptional. You can sit out on the terrace overlooking the pool if you want.
The Ippokampos Beach bar is on a lawn below the Psari. Open fronted the shaded restaurant overlooks Coral bay. Lunches here are GREAT. Ivan the chef is very good indeed. Service is the same. I love lunch at the Ippokampos.
Psari À la Carte The Psari is on a long terrace overlooking Coral Bay. Managed by the very capable and charming Aristos the food is absolutely superb. We eat there once a week and it’s lovely. Aristos runs a tight ship. It’s excellent. One marvellous menu.
Captains Bar There are numerous tables and chairs adjacent to the Captains bar with several sofa sized external seats and tables through the sliding glass doors. There's an outside bar for people in swimwear.
There is a full spa with hot tubs, relaxation and massage on a lower floor. It always looks great and I think we’ll have to treat ourselves one day.
There’s an interior pool on the lowest floor beneath the spa.
Overlooking the pool is the gym with two cross trainers, two exercise bikes, two treadmills and numerous resistance machines and free weights. The gym has a big new air conditioner fitted into the ceiling. The spa reception has the remote for the air conditioner. The gym is really good! There’s a yoga studio opposite the gym entrance with daily classes as well.
Pool The outdoor pool is on the sunrise side of the hotel. Surrounded on three sides by sun loungers you can get towels with plastic cards you get when you check in. There's constant attention with a pool attendant and a lifeguard. During the afternoon staff come around with LOVELY frozen flannels for the guests around the pool.
I didn't get the names of all the staff but here are a few notables: Aristos, Himal, Ivan, Joty, Bibash, Victoria, Barbora, Pradip and Loden. These are just the names I remember. There are so many more who deserve mentioning! The staff have always been excellent!
A couple of useful points (some I've already mentioned)
There's a kettle with coffee, tea and milk next to the wardrobes; replenished daily. A complimentary bottle of water is left daily; There's a telephone adjacent to the bed; The sockets are UK compatible 230v with a couple of USB As for charging; (recent update and VERY handy!) The TVs have several HDMI sockets; If you need change ask at reception, they're very helpful; Opposite the Coral Beach hotel entrance is a Phillipos Supermarket for bits and bobs; There's a cashpoint left of the supermarket entrance, bus stop to the right; There's a handy taxi company at the left of the Coral Beach drive. You can order one via reception or email directly. Sea Caves Taxis. The 615 bus is every 15 minutes. €2 euros each to Coral Bay or to the bus station in Paphos. €3 euros after 9pm. 611 bus from the bus station to the harbour. It's cheaper to pay €6.50 which includes return from Paphos. Always take a bottle of water on longer bus journeys. Sit as soon as possible on the bus. The drivers can be a tad heavy on the accelerator!
You can stay in the hotel (And eat and drink well with marvellous rooms, staff and surroundings) or you can go out.
We do both. Eleventh visit coming up next year and we can't wait!
A truly exceptional hotel. This was our 7th visit (3rd since it reopened) and we have already booked to go again this September.
Andri (General Manager) should be extremely proud of her staff and what she has achieved since the reopening of the hotel.
The location and views from the hotel are spectacular and one of the key reasons for choosing this hotel, another being the brilliant staff and the service they provide.
All the staff go out of their way to make sure the guests have a great holiday experience.
We love this hotel as it truly allows us to relax in a little bit of paradise.
Amazing facial Babor.. best facial I've ever had., Lietsl is amazing.. worth the money totally worth it..
Great spa facilities offering Yoga, gym and indoor pool. Liesl, Andreas and other staff are friendly and always happy to help. Yoga with Natasha twice a week is first class, she is knowledgeable and helpful to people of all levels and a real asset to the Thelassa. Other classes available at 8 and 3 o’clock, superb hotel.
After reading all the excellent reviews on this hotel we decided to book a 10 night All inclusive stay there. Wow!!!!! we were not disappointed. This is a small (100 rooms) boutique hotel, the design is traditional, very well maintained and spotlessly clean. It has a very relaxing and peaceful quality to it, no sunbed wars here….. beds were available at any given time every day round the pool, beach bar and on the beach with drinks, which are of an excellent quality, served straight to your beds. The buffet restaurant is beautifully presented, the food is varied every night to a different theme and is of a fantastic quality and amazing taste, expertly overseen by the brilliant head chef who is obviously very passionate and proud of the food that is presented, it is the only hotel I have stayed where the food is just as good and as well presented no matter what time you visit. The main stars of this hotel are the staff. They always greet you with a smile and a warm welcome and provide a friendly and efficient service which reflects greatly on the whole atmosphere of the hotel. Unfortunately a couple of days before we left I suffered a fall (not at the hotel) and fractured my leg, the staff were so kind and caring, offering their help and support to us and I cannot thank them enough. We don’t normally return to a hotel twice as we prefer to experience different places but we will definitely be returning to this one!!
