This comfortable hotel is in Protaras, just meters away from the best beach in the area, the renowned Fig Tree Bay. This brand new stylish hotel, offers a total of 56 accommodation units, 2 restaurants, 2 bars and a roof top revolving lounge bar. It offers an outdoor pool with whirlpool and an indoor pool in the basement level. A small fitness room is also available for the more energetic guests. There is also an ice cream parlour on site, next to the outdoor pool. This hotel was constructed in 2018 and opened on June 3rd.
Due to the surrounding area and the number of steps around the hotel, it may not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties.
I’ll start with the positives: Clean, cool reception area, whole hotel was clean and well presented apart from the pool (I’ll come to that.) Most of the staff were friendly and polite, and the rooms were clean, if on the small side. The breakfast was typical hotel stuff, very thin bacon cooked in slabs so you could only get an almost burnt or almost raw slice, jams & spreads from large pots rather than individual portions which I prefer, hot dog sausages etc. we only went for breakfast 3 out of 11 mornings. Now the negatives. The hotel bar closed at 10pm but we never saw it open, the bar above the hotel, Revo was terrible, loud music, empty and way overpriced. The pool area was dirty, the metal steps to get in were hanging off, my husband tried to get out of the pool using the steps and they almost came off, really unsafe. The pool area itself was just about bearable until a large group of people from Liverpool turned up, at least 10 adults and multiple kids. Shouting across the pool area to each other, kids screaming and arguing. What was particularly annoying was that there are signs everywhere saying no inflatables, my sons were begging me for an inflatable crocodile to us and I refused, but when this group turned up they had lilos, rings, the lot and weren’t told not to use them. The pool itself was filthy, never once smelt of chlorine so God knows how they were cleaning it as there were no filters. My Son has come home with an ear infection and my husband has a skin infection from the pool! It was vile, clumps of hair from people not tying their hair back, kids obviously urinating in it, I refused to get in and would just use the shower when I wanted to cool off. All in all the holiday was what we made it but I won’t be visiting Protaras again. Our first and last visit. Hardly any Cypriot people working in restaurants and shops.
A great location for everything and the staff are amazing especially the restaurant manager Andrea. Rooms are spacious and clean and a lovely pool area. This is our second time visiting and will be back again.
The noise on the ‘inland view’ side is really awful. We’ve been here 2 nights and have woken up both of them in the middle of the night and again early morning. I mentioned it at Reception after the first night and he said we should have booked sea view as that’s quieter (if I had known how loud it was I would have paid for sea view). He also said we’re lucky we aren’t in Ayia Napa because that would be noisier! It’s too late to upgrade now as apparently they are full so we’ll have to endure this for another 9 nights!
Other than this the hotel is very clean and most of the staff are friendly. I would recommend ONLY if you pay for the sea view upgrade. It ruins the holiday if you can’t sleep and have tired children every day.
Also, just for information in case it’s helpful to those with more than 2 children, if you book a family of 2 rooms be aware that you won’t be put together. Myself and my Husband have 3 children so had to book 2 rooms on one booking, I thought we would automatically be together but we weren’t, they said the same floor is close enough. Luckily we had another family member in the next room so we swapped after a day, but I’ve no idea why they wouldn’t allocate the rooms that way in the first place (the man at Reception said people stay different dates so sometimes it’s not possible, but the people who we asked to swap are here for the exact same dates, we just had to arrange the swap ourselves).
We stayed at the Protaras Plaza Hotel for 2 weeks, the hotel was clean and tidy, the staff on reception, and in the restaurant the manager knew exactly who we were and where we were staying she was just so nice, and also the lifeguards around the pool area, all of the staff were very friendly and helpful. I couldn't sleep in my room it was too loud as it was located at the front of the hotel, so I spoke to the reception staff and I couldn't be moved straight away, so I contacted the resort team and with the help of everyone I was finally moved to a slightly smaller room a week later, but it was quieter and after a week of sleep deprivation I finally managed to get a little sleep, so I could enjoy my holiday?! Unfortunately my Dad had an accident at the pool area, and the lifeguard was so fast at responding to the care he needed, he arranged for an ambulance to attend and within 10 minutes my dad was in an ambulance on the way to the hospital?! Thankyou to all of those people involved in both my room change and my dad's care, he is doing well now?!
We had a very Nice stay here. Thanks
