Constantinos the Great Beach Hotel

Spent 1 week with my daughter at Constantinos The Great Beach Hotel. Location is good on the beach and near to main strip with bars and shops. On entry to the hotel the reception area is very nice, we were given a room with a fantastic view overlooking the pool and beach. The view was stunning. Room was a good size however housekeeping at the hotel was very poor, rooms were not cleaned daily there was mould in the bathroom, stained pillow cases. A complimentary robe was offered however ours were left untouched, I could never have offered them to anyone as they were old, worn and off colour which made them look unclean so not used. Food was ok however certainly no where near a 5⭐️ standard. Sun loungers around pool were old with stained dirty cushions on. Bar staff at pool bar were lovely and friendly however restaurant staff presented as tired and miserable and we had to chase them down just to get a drink. Very little entertainment available at hotel. Although the hotel is surrounded by the most beautiful setting it’s certainly not a 5⭐️ therefore I was disappointed and unlikely to return.

If they did halves I would give it 3.5 but can’t give it 4 I’m afraid.

Stayed here from October 9th for 2 weeks.

The hotel is generally beautiful, the lobby and floors look very impressive. The location is amazing right behind the strip but right on the beach.

Late arrival so were told to go to the bar where they had sandwiches for us, how lovely we thought, till we received polystyrene boxes with dried bread and cheese. Dreadful.

We paid extra for a front sea view and requested a high floor. This was worth every penny, a button opened the curtains to the most glorious view. I believe the 4th floor has been refurbished so we had no complaints about the room, big massive bed, nice walk in shower, nice table with mirror and stool to do your hair, decent hairdryer provided too.

Whilst it didn’t impact our holiday the towels had seen better days, off white and definitely not fluffy.

We barely used the bars so couldn’t comment, the breakfasts were great, plenty to choose from, I enjoyed the freshly made omelettes and pancakes most days. The fruit like the bananas tasted so much nicer than the ones in the Uk.

We met the lovely Shushma here, she really should be promoted to a supervisor/trainer, most of the staff just cleared the plates and nothing else, whereas she asked every days, how was our holiday, was everything alright.

Dinner is served in another room but think it would be far better in the breakfast room, the food stations are all cramped in one corner of the room and cause problems when busy, it’s just not a big enough area, not helped either by people of other nationalities jumping the queues. If you are going to dinner just to be fed up/fill up then it’s fine you will always find something to eat, whether it be soup, salads, chips, or bread rolls. But if you are looking for dinner with great service, tasty hot food then this isn’t the hotel for you. We ate out most nights otherwise it would have spoiled our holiday.

We had no problems getting a sunbed round the pool, there were plenty, some of the covers were badly stained/tatty but we always found decent ones.

Stan was other only member of the entertainment team who spoke to us, a shame he didn’t do the Aqua aerobics every day as he made it fun, whilst the others were boring and hardly anyone joined in, whereas Stan always had a crowd joining in.

A real shame the hotel don’t heat the pool in October, it really was unpleasantly freezing, and the majority of guests never used it.

Would I come back, yes if I was on a budget but with the expectation to bring extra money to eat out at night as the location was great.

Crystal-clear turquoise water, a beautifully calm sea with barely a ripple, and the wonderful experience of swimming among fish in the early morning. With the water temperature around 24°C, it felt like a little Mediterranean paradise, right outside Constantinos the Great Hotel.

This was my sixth visit to the hotel, and one of the pleasures was meeting familiar faces. What a coincidence to find several returning guests I had played table tennis with last year! We enjoyed playing together again this year. It is lovely how a hotel can become a place where friendships continue from one year to the next.

Another positive aspect is the owner, who is present at the hotel daily and takes the time to interact warmly with guests. His personal involvement adds a welcoming touch.

In the evenings, we enjoyed traditional Cypriot and Greek dancing, adding to the holiday atmosphere.

The food was generally good, with one exception: the hamburger from the beach bar, which needs improvement.

After six visits, Constantinos the Great continues to be a place I enjoy returning to, not only for its beautiful beach and wonderful sea, but also for its familiar faces and welcoming atmosphere.
