Rixos Premium Dubrovnik

Had an amazing dining experience in Umi Teppanyaki - live cooking, chef and food was out of this world with added bonus of views of sea and Dubrovnik. A must do when staying in Rixos Premium.

This hotel is pretty amazing, I have never been to a luxury hotel of this scale. The location, the cleanliness, the amenities, the gym, all excellent. The only reason I gave it a 4 star was our reception. My wife and I arrived and both of us have separate but equivalent top hotel status, diamond/platinum levels and the first room they gave us was far from our status. I realize this may sound trite but we have paid and earned these levels through this hotel group and they expound the benefits of having their status and then when we arrived it was like it did not mean a thing. We had to have a talk with the hotel manager to get our status recognized, that effort should not have been necessary. This is a luxury hotel and with the high cost, highest level of service is expected. After a brief meeting we were moved to a more appropriate room. After this little blunder the rest of our stay was wonderful.

My mum and I booked a long weekend to Dubrovnik for mid October and initially chose the Rixos based upon its location and proximity to the Old Town. From the moment we arrived to the minute we left, we really couldn’t have had a better experience. The first thing to note is the warmth and friendliness of the staff across the hotel. Every person we encountered genuinely seemed to care about the guest experience. We felt very welcome and so well looked after throughout our stay. We stayed on a breakfast and dinner basis, and need to shout from the rooftops about how delicious and wonderful the food was. This was consistent across our stay and the high quality of food and good variety on offer at dinner meant we enjoyed our evening meals tremendously (without feeling once that the food was repeating). The chefs do an outstanding job! Desserts were incredible too. Breakfast was delightful and could still be enjoyed on the terrace with magnificent views over the sea. The sparkling wine was appreciated and again the food could not be criticised. So much choice! Our room had a sea view and was large, comfortable, clean and well maintained. Reviews regarding the hotel being dated and needing refurbished feel a little overexaggerated - the mural style headboard and bathroom backsplash could perhaps use a bit of updating but otherwise the room was absolutely fine! We were wondering about this prior to arriving as this has been repeatedly mentioned of late but were thankfully pleasantly surprised with our room. The balcony furniture was excellent. And the beds were very comfy. The housekeeping team on our floor (8) were wonderful and made up the room beautifully. Last but not least, the proximity to the Old Town is fantastic with the bonus of being by the sea, with a stunning outlook and peaceful, quiet surroundings. In the morning you can hear the bell tower ringing and the birds. It’s just lovely! Five minutes only on the bus to the old city. We used the Number 4 service (H.Palace - Pile Gate) which you can catch from nearby the hotel. When you leave the hotel, turn right, exit the car park and you will see some steps leading up. Once you get to the top, turn left and you will see the bus shelter just a little along the road. Very easy! On the return, you need the stop for Hotel Lero, across the road from the departure stop. Once we had figured this out, everything was super straightforward. The walk into town is also easy and very scenic. About 15 minutes or so. Overall we had an excellent stay at Rixos and really couldn’t recommend it highly enough. It was amazing! And we can’t wait to come back!
