Soco House

We had a fantastic holiday in St. Lucia, travelling from Gatwick in July. We were a bit apprehensive of the weather with it being the start of hurricane season but it was lovely, hot every day, odd day with showers but it doesn't spoil anything. I'd recommend having a walk down the road to some local bars - we did this on a rainy day but it was great sitting under the canopy with a rum and the locals. But then the pool bar is great and we found ourselves sat around the bar area every day at some point. Gavin was a star, as was all of the staff.

Vladimir was brilliant, he's obviously turned the place around looking at some earlier reviews. It's so nice that the GM takes time to talk and ask if there are any issues he can sort. Even just a 'hello' or wave means a lot to guests. We did have a couple of issues with our when we first arrived - air con was faulty and a few other niggles but these were promptly resolved and Vladimir even offered an upgraded room. We declined that offer as the room we were moved to was fine, nice high ceilings and lovely balcony.

Food was lovely, could not fault it one bit. I can definitely recommend the seafood chowder which frequents the menu - it was one of the best dishes I've ever had.

Another highlight was meeting 'Seven' (can't replicate the exact St Lucian letters) - he called himself 'the one'. We bumped into him on the first morning as we were walking to the beach - I dismissed this as a sales pitch at first but the more we spoke to him he could offer various tours/trips around the island. We did a boat trip down the coast and visited some nice beaches and the mud baths, rum was flowing! Those sort of attractions are in the south of the island so it can be expensive due to the roads more than distance. As we saw 'the one' more and more on the beach he could advise of what to do and how. The Friday night street party is great (i miss-judged the strength of the rum and ended up in a pickle both times we went! It's literally a short boat ride away from the hotel but the best way to get there.

We wanted to do rum tasting and chocolate making but the places for this are on the south of the island so we asked 'the one' if he could sort something for us. He made up an itinerary of bars to visit and got his mates to drive us around the island with a lovely Canadian couple that we met. This was brilliantly authentic and we got to see the real St Lucia and tasted some fantastic rum - included in the price was lunch at a roadside BBQ, rustic and genuine, a fantastic morning. To say this was not an official tour it was and put together by 'the one' on our request which is testament to him and his kindness.

All of the lads on the beach are great - Noah, 'Lion' and 'the one' are there most days and will accommodate anything you want to do without being pushy. Pigeon Island is a nice visit and only a short boat ride away if you don't mind a walk - nothing too difficult.

Marie's Fish Shack is well worth a visit which is at the Southern end of the bay - Lion kindly took us there. Apparently she can be grumpy but she was great! I think it's because the food takes a while to be done but she literally cooks it on a BBQ to order - the fish is fresh the same day and is fantastic!

Overall an amazing holiday and would highly recommend! Special shout out to 'the one', was a great help to us.

Saint Lucia is, without a doubt, one of the most beautiful islands I have ever had the pleasure of visiting. From the breathtaking scenery and stunning beaches to the warmth and friendliness of the people, this country has left me absolutely in awe.

I visited Saint Lucia in September 2026, and although the island itself is truly beautiful, if I’m being completely honest, it was the people who made this trip so special and unforgettable.

My stay at Soco House was absolutely amazing from start to finish. The hotel, the atmosphere and, most importantly, the staff made the experience even more memorable. Every member of staff we encountered was lovely, welcoming, friendly and genuinely happy to help. You could feel the warmth and hospitality everywhere you went, and it never felt forced. It was simply people being kind and making you feel welcome.

A special mention has to go to Eloise, the shift manager, who was an absolute star. She was incredibly helpful, approachable and attentive, and went above and beyond to make our experience enjoyable. Beyond being excellent at her job, she came across as a genuinely wonderful human being. People like Eloise make such a difference to a holiday, and I hope she knows how much her kindness and efforts are appreciated.

I also want to give a special shout out to D-one on the beach. He was extremely helpful, informative, friendly, down to earth and welcoming. Whether answering questions or simply making us feel comfortable, he brought such a positive energy to the experience. It’s people like him who make you appreciate a place beyond its beautiful surroundings.

What stood out to me most was that the warmth wasn’t limited to the hotel. From the resort staff to the team on the beach and everyone else we came across during our stay, the friendliness and hospitality were consistent throughout. Everywhere we went, we were met with smiles, kindness and genuine warmth.

Saint Lucia has a special energy about it. The natural beauty is incredible, but the people give the island its heart and soul.

I will absolutely be returning to Saint Lucia, and when I do, Soco House will most definitely be my choice of stay again. I would happily recommend it to anyone looking for a memorable holiday with beautiful surroundings and genuinely wonderful hospitality.

Saint Lucia, you have left me in awe. Your beauty is unmatched, your people are incredible, and a little piece of my heart will always be there.

The Soco house was very different from any hotel I've stayed at before, at first it seemed to quiet but after we relaxed we realised just what a fantastic place it is to unwind. Our room was lovely with the most comfortable hotel bed I have ever slept on. What really makes this hotel is the amazing staff, they are friendly willing to do anything to make your stay memorable from Rosie and Gavin who made lovely cocktails to all the restaurant staff. The manager Vladamir knows all the guests names and greets you like a friend. It was low season so the beach was pretty empty which we loved and only a 10 minute walk to local malls and shops, we walked during the day and evening to the shops and felt very safe. We will definitely return to this hidden gem of a hotel.
