Bay Gardens Resort and Spa

We stayed here 2 weeks and really want to love the place but are torn. We arrived about 6pm on a Saturday evening. We had a long journey, but as part of the check in we were told we would need to book our evening meal at the restaurant in the premises next door and to wear something elegant. I felt drained and travel sick so that was the last thing I wanted. We were also told that the bar in our hotel closes at 7pm but the one next door would be open until 10:30ish. That was the case every night we were there except for a couple. The bar next door was dead, you could hear a pin drop and it wasn’t what we expected as we thought we would be in a beach bar. The second night we did go to that restaurant (Kimchi and Kallaloo). I am vegetarian but im not a fussy eater. Maybe it was because I was still off colour but I did not enjoy the meal at all. There was only one vegetarian main course, and the menu did not change so we were a bit stuck then for the rest of the stay. Even if I had of enjoyed it? I wouldn’t want the same meal every night.

I found the same with lunches too. There were 2 set menus and not much vegetarian choice on either. There is a pizza/pasta and fast food bar open during the day so we found ourselves having to eat early…I don’t think I have ever eastern so many margarita pizzas (which were great but that’s not the point).

The best meals for me were breakfast. That was buffet and there were plenty of vegetarian choices.

On one of the Saturday nights there was a buffet which was also good. However, we nearly missed it as there was no info board or anything so it wasn’t publicised, we only knew because we saw them preparing and asked somebody.

We did go to one of the sisters hotels for an evening meal but once we got there the only vegetarian options were tomato pasta or pizza ha ha. We ended up eating out 8 out of the 14 nights, and St Lucia isn’t a cheap island.

Despite all that, there were a lot of positives. The staff were all so helpful, friendly and professional.it never failed to amaze me how many remembers our names and room number. When the bar was open, the drink selection and service was great. And you cannot beat the location or the views.

I know we went aut of season, but we didn’t expect the entertainment/bar/restaurants to all be closed by 7pm on an all inclusive holiday. Maybe if we had gone at a different time we would have had a better experience.

I had a wonderful stay at Bay Gardens Beach Resort & Spa! The food at Sapphire Restaurant was the best I’ve had on the island, and the staff were amazing. They made my birthday on October 13 truly special!

My only complaint was the billing process for all-inclusive guests. After every order, I was presented with a bill requiring my signature for record-keeping, even though nothing was owed. My concern was not the record-keeping itself, but having to repeatedly sign bills that should clearly show a $0.00 balance due. This became frustrating and unnecessary, especially when I refused to sign but was still repeatedly presented with these bills.

Overall, I loved the food and hospitality. A clearer, more convenient record- keeping process would make the experience even better!

I visited for an all inclusive day pass with my daughter for her birthday. She enjoyed her day and special treatment received by the staff. We also did on of their non-motorized activity that was included with the stay with was fun.
