We traveled to Moon Palace Jamaica to celebrate a milestone birthday with a group of 30 guests, and unfortunately, this resort has fallen far short of the experience we expected.
The problems began at check-in. Despite booking our accommodations more than six months in advance, the resort failed to provide the rooms we had reserved and paid for. As we attempted to resolve the issue, we were told that rooms could not be blocked or arranged near one another unless every member of the group arrived at the exact same time. For a destination resort that regularly hosts weddings, birthdays, and large group events, this explanation was both unreasonable and unacceptable. Advance planning is exactly why reservations are made months ahead. I do want to acknowledge Ms. Sherry-Gaye, who stepped in and ensured I received the room I paid for. Her assistance was greatly appreciated.
Even more disappointing than the logistical issues has been the level of customer service. Almost all of the staff members, including a manager named Eyon (who worked the overnight shift), were consistently dismissive, rude, and unwilling to help. Rather than feeling welcomed, we often felt like we were inconveniencing the staff simply by asking questions or requesting assistance. Hospitality should never make guests feel like a burden, especially when our group alone spent nearly $20,000 at this resort. That level of service is completely unacceptable. I would, however, like to recognize the staff at Pier 8 who worked on 7/12/26 during our 7:45 p.m. reservation. They were kind, friendly, and provided one of the few positive service experiences during our stay.
The food was also underwhelming, and restaurant availability was inconsistent, with several venues closed at inconvenient times. Quality varied significantly from one restaurant to another, and many meals were mediocre at best. For a resort that markets itself as a luxury, all-inclusive destination, the dining experience simply did not meet expectations.
The final and most upsetting issue occurred during the reason we were all there: to celebrate my niece's 18th birthday. She arrived at the resort at 17 and turned 18 during our stay but still had a minor bracelet. One of the few things she wanted to do was visit the nightclub with her friends. On 7/15/26, she was denied entry by security because of her bracelet, despite explaining that she had turned 18 and offering to show her passport. What should have been a simple fix turned into a major issue when we were told she would need to pay an additional $200 per night for the remainder of her stay just to access the club. She had no intention of using the club beyond that one night, especially considering it had been closed every day prior and had only just reopened. After declining to pay the additional fee, security remained stationed at the entrance as though my niece and her friends posed some kind of threat. Manager Eyon was extremely rude and disrespectful to my brother, his wife, myself, and other family members throughout the interaction.
To make matters even worse, one of the security guards aggressively grabbed one of my niece's friends while yelling, "Security breach!" in front of other guests. The problem was that he had grabbed the wrong person. My niece was the only one wearing a minor bracelet. Her friends were all of legal age. Instead of apologizing for physically manhandling an innocent guest and de-escalating the situation, he muttered a dismissive "my bad" under his breath before walking away. There was no accountability, no professionalism, and no concern for how frightening and humiliating that experience was for a young woman who had done absolutely nothing wrong. That incident alone should concern anyone considering staying at this resort.
This trip was meant to be a joyful birthday celebration shared with family and friends. Instead, we spent far too much time dealing with avoidable issues, poor communication, and disappointing customer service. When guests invest thousands of dollars and months of planning into a vacation, they deserve professionalism, organization, and genuine hospitality.
Sadly, Moon Palace Jamaica has not delivered on any of those expectations. Based on our experience, I cannot recommend this resort to anyone planning a group celebration or expecting the level of service that a luxury all-inclusive should provide.
