Perfect for our needs. . .
This resort was outstanding. Great accommodations, quiet, and great views.
The dinner restaurant is very good. We were very hungry when we arrived. The front desk should have directed us to their restaurant; instead, they were giving offsite options. I don't think that they were aware of the hotel's restaurant hours. We inadvertently learned that the hotel restaurant was open.
The best restaurant in the area is Fox House. Be sure to ask the front desk for the restaurant's free shuttle. We unnecessarily paid for a taxi, only to later learn that the front desk knew of this free service and didn't offer it. However your get there, go to the Fos House.
Great beach access and family fun
We had a fantastic time at Tamarind Hills and really enjoyed our stay. The staff were very friendly, the beach was gorgeous, the water was perfect. We really loved our vacation. This was our second resort on Antigua, and it gave us a chance to compare some things. The beach house was a great location and the food at Wild Tamarind was really very good. We also loved the beach service. I've seen some bad reviews of the restaurant, but every meal we had was delicious. In fact, my young adult sons are inspired to try and recreate the Island Fire pizza and the Tamarind Fizz drinks. My husband is not a fish eater but ordered the Cajun Mahi Mahi skewers and raved about them. We were all surprised and delighted! We stayed at a beach house which was at the far end of the property from the main resort, and while we had to walk a little more, we loved it. We had access to BOTH Ffryes Beach and Darkwood Beach AND had a mini private beach right off of our house. We were able to snorkel basically right out our back door. We were very close to the back security gate which made taxi pickups very easy. We loved the plunge pool in the backyards. The bedrooms were spacious, cool, clean. We were very close to a good grocery store in Jolly Harbor and that made it easy to grab food to stock the house. We had breakfasts in the house, and did grill and cook at home a few nights. I'm a birder, and I loved the location next to the Darkwood Salt Pond. There were lots of great birds flying over and visiting the wetland. My kids (older teens and young adults) loved the snorkeling, the jet skis, the community pool. We also enjoyed the golf simulator and played pickleball every day!

Paradise does exist
Tamarind resort was a beautiful piece of paradise. I have been to many places in the world and this was my favorite by far. The room was spectacular including the views and service. The water is crystal clear and the people are extremely friendly. I will definitely be back. Thank you so much
Tamarind CHILLS
Just returned from a week long stay in Antigua to celebrate our 27th Anniversary. We stayed 5 nights at another resort (which was phenomenal in all regards), and spent the final two nights at Tamarind Hills. We decided on Tamarind Hills because of its highly rated beach and it is a relatively new property. We got checked in and were driven to our room in a vehicle. It is extremely hilly here (75 stairs to our room from the base of the steps). The bellman gave us a comprehensive review of our room which was stunning. It has a kitchenette, is very spacious with a modern bathroom and large deck with lounge chairs. The last item the bellman pointed out was which direction to turn the handle for hot water in the shower. I found it strange that he pointed that out but didn’t think much of it at the time. We were just really excited to get down to the beach and explore the resort. The beach is beautiful with self serve towels and beach chairs/umbrellas. The water is calm, warm, and clear. Got back up to our rooms for a shower and get ready for dinner. This is where things started to fall apart. Turned on the shower, keeping the handle in the exact position we were shown and waited for the water to warm up. And waited. And waited. And waited. Nothing. It was barely lukewarm. My wife and I each quickly jumped in for just long enough to do a quick wash and get out. It was not pleasant at all. We reported it to the front desk and they sent someone up while we were at dinner. It was a hot, humid evening so I wanted a rinse off before bed. I turned on the hot water and waited. And waited. And waited. Not better at all. This is after maintenance was to our room and reported the issue resolved. We reported that the issue was not fixed through their App to the front desk. Fast forward to next day when the manager came to the beach to discuss the issue with us. I could tell her positioning started to change when she said that the water must not be “warm enough to our liking.” Ha! No one would think that the water temp was adequate for a shower. I travel 100 nights per year so I definitely know when something like this isn’t right. To their credit they sent maintenance up 2 additional times, the last time accompanied by the manager who “put her hand under the water and it was fine.” This is laughable. Clearly they have an issue (otherwise why would the bellman point out the hot water handle positioning) and didn’t want to admit it. The most frustrating thing is it did take away from our enjoyment at the resort. Upon check out I asked the manager if there was anything they could do to make us feel better about our experience and she basically said they couldn’t do anything and that the water was fine, just not warm enough to our liking.” Again, this is laughable as it was barely Luke warm water for our entire stay. The most disappointing thing is the way it was handled. They could have done something such as picking up one of the two dinners we ate there, as a gesture, however they took the opposite stance. Clearly this is a poorly run resort who doesn’t care about customer satisfaction or repeat customers, I wouldn’t go back if it was free.
Incredible Experience
Tamarind Hills Resort may not be for everyone, it is for those who really want to reset and unwind. The tranquil feeling and peace I found there was far beyond any island I experienced. If you are a beach snob, this the place for you. The sand is perfect and the water is crystal blue with literally nothing disturbing it. There is no loud music playing while you are sunbathing and noone soliciting goods on the beach. The staff, was super friendly and accommodating. I wish I could name everyone that stood out but Nafuna and Selena went above and beyond to make our stay wonderful. Thank you and because of you, we will be back ! If you get a chance go to the island of Barbuda, you will not be disappointed. It is a must see!!! The food at the resort is good, although we found venturing out to be better. The hotel will help to find a taxi service and felt very safe. Overall, I loved everything about my stay and cannot wait to come back!!!!
